Songs of Our Heritage: Shalom Aleichem - Welcoming Angels

Composed in 1919 by Rabbi Israel Goldfarb, this iconic melody is sung on Friday evenings in millions of Jewish homes around the world to welcome the Shabbos. Something that has always fascinated me is that we can celebrate Shabbos in different countries around the globe, and so often it’s the same classic melody that brings in the Shabbos spirit, uplifting our families as we sit together around the Shabbos table. Jewish music is the soundtrack to our lives. At every milestone, holiday or mitzva, it enhances and enlivens our experience and service of Hashem.
