Eli Scheller on Lakewood traffic lights

[Music] I think the way they put up new traffic lights at least over here in Lakewood probably everywhere else is a big lesson for us to learn from you see over here is a very big busy intersection and they want to put up lights over here it's going to be very hard for people to follow along with the lights because they're not used to seeing it so they put up lights and they put bags over it that you can't see the red yellow and green it's months that they pass by and they see the traffic poles finally after a few months they take off the bags and now they see the flashing yellow light so for months they saw the traffic poles now they see the flashing yellow lights finally when they're ready for to go into service they put a big sign 200 ft before the light warning new signal ahead and now people are ready to stop for the red light months that they see it subconsciously they saw the light so many times now they're ready to stop and I was thinking that's such a an important lesson for our lives you want to change your behavior ell you want to change your Behavior to come into Rush a on a different person doesn't take overnight you can't change Behavior overnight you can't just put a red light from one day to the next nobody's going to stop they're not used to it you have to have months of preparation well we have 30 days of preparation but it's about getting used to it building a new habit takes at least 21 days you want to wake up early you have to build that skill do it again again and again so whatever you want to work on is going to take time there's going to be times that you may forget but pick yourself right back up and keep doing it day after day after day until it becomes a habit and I I'll end off with a great quote that I heard at first you work hard to build a habit and then the Habit builds [Music] you thank you so much [Music]
