One of the weirdest parts about living
in Israel is that everybody's got an
opinion.
You tell someone where you're thinking
of living and they're like, "Why there?"
You tell someone what kind of school
you're considering and they're like,
"No, no, no. Not that school."
You tell them a car you're thinking of
buying
and they're like, "Yeah, no. Terrible
car."
You tell them what apartment you're
looking at and they're like, "How much?
That's crazy."
And the best part is you didn't even ask
at all.
But somehow within 30 seconds this
person has reviewed your neighborhood,
your finances, your parenting, your
commute, and possibly your marriage.
Welcome to Israel.
And at first as an Anglo you're kind of
like, "Why is everyone in my business?"
But then after a little while something
happens. You kind of become one of them.
Your friend tells you he's moving
somewhere and before he even finishes
the sentence you're like, "Yeah, no,
bro. You don't want to live there." And
then you stop and you realize,
"Oh, no.
Israel got me."
