Day 6 Chanukah Kavana with Harav Yussie Zakutinsky

Everybody so tonight is the sixth night of Khan and it's also entering into Shabas Khan you know the is is that when it comes this now there's a number of candles to light right you have the Kaneka candles you also have Shabas candles is that first you light Kaneka candles and then you light Shabas candles the reason I'll explain that the reason for that is kabala the reason for that is is because the light of is amazing the light of shabas is extremely big. Extremely big. And the concern is that if a person were to light shabas candles first, then the light of Kaneka would become so swallowed up in the light of Shabas, it wouldn't be noticeable. So in order to make sure that Kaneka and the light of Kaneka is noticeable, so first you light Kaneka candles and then you light Chabas candles. But if a person lit Shabas candles first in the in the unbelievable glow of the Chabas candles, the Khan candles wouldn't be as noticeable spiritually speaking. What's the lesson of that? The lesson of that is is that on Shabas Khan, one of the is to make sure that we don't lose sight of the small things even though we're in the presence of something so big. Very often a person in their own their own hashem only focuses on the big accomplishments, only focuses on the big events in life. And very often in the presence of those big events, the small little things don't uh matter so much. So every single day putting out fill and every single day eating kosher, every single day learning and davining and doing and being a good trying to be a good husband and a good a wife and a good child and a good sibling and being just being a good Jew. Uh we don't focus on that because we're waiting for those big milestones. We're waiting for that big accomplishment. You know the mash that you're going to do. What about the daytoday grind of just trying to do the right thing? So just as Darel said, when it comes to Shabas Kaneka, there's a special effort of making sure the Kaneka candles don't get lost in the big flame of Shabas. And that's why we don't light the Shabas candles first because then we wouldn't be able to discern the smaller candles of Kaneka. Rather, we light the Kaneka candles first to make sure that we focus on those small things and we don't lose sight of it in the presence of the big light of Shabas. That's our void of obviously to appreciate and to attach ourselves to big accomplishments in our lives. But not to lose sight of the of of connecting ourselves and to appreciating the small little things whether it be the small little things in our the small little gifts that Hashem gives us in life as well but to focus on that and to make sure that doesn't get lost in the uh in the big picture.
