Day #180–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

it is day number 180 of our daily study of and in the three chapters today of M We are continuing the laws of the Passover offering chapters 3 four and five and corresponding to that we have uh a few minutes with all positive Commandments today okay positive commandment 57 is PES sheni what's pesak sheni PES sheni literally means the second Passover when's the second Passover well you know when the first Passover is I don't mean the holiday Passover I mean the the offering the sacrifice of Passover oh we said it yesterday on the 14th day of the month of Nissen so those who miss out on the first Passover offering because they're ritually impure and they're unable to bring the offering or for other reasons they have a makeup opportunity exactly one month later on the 14th day of the month of year which is the month after Nissen so that is positive commandment 57 uh positive commandment 56 is the Mitzvah of eating the meat of the PES offering to eat it that night meaning the night of the Seder roasted over fire there's a very specific way of of preparing the meat of the Corbin PES together with matah and bitter herbs hence the famous Hillel sandwich positive commandment 58 is the Mitzvah of eating the Corb PES sheni you going to say you just had PES Shen yeah yeah that was the Mitzvah of bringing it as a sacrifice now I'm talking about the Mitzvah of eating it and that's done just like the PES reine the first PES offering is sacrificed on the 14th and then eaten in the evening of the 15th of Nissen so too the PES sheni just push it a month later it's sacrificed on the 14th of year and it's eaten the evening of the 15th of year and again the same way uh it's eaten the same way together with matah and with bitter herbs so I guess you would have a hell sandwich sheny although I've never heard anybody string those words together in that particular combination okay uh we're going to continue with more p uh related Corbin pesak related laws tomorrow God willing
