Day #144–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

Hashem it is day number 144 of our daily study of ramam savitz in the three chapters a day of mishna Tada we are still in the laws of the sabbatical year which we began yesterday specifically chapters three four and five today and corresponding to those laws we are learning today several Mitzvahs that have to do with the sabbatical year a negative commandment 223 is the prohibition against harvesting Fields during the sabbatical year positive commandment 134 is the positive commandment to make the fields ownerless let it rest abandon it yes there is private property in Torah but in the sabbatical year in the land of Israel your fields are for the public equally equal access to all positive commandment 141 now here is a another aspect of the sabbatical year which is not agricultural per se but rather financial and that is to forego loans on the sabbatical year if you have a debt if you are the Creditor and you hold a debt that somebody else owes you you have to relinquish that debt in the sabbatical year uh negative 230 is the prohibition against collecting a debt after the sabbatical year negative commandment 231 is very interesting refusing to lend money as the sabbatical year gets close in other words person says well I know if I loan this money let's say it's your number six already it's coming very soon the sabbatical year and I won't be able to collect my my loan so therefore I'm not going to give a loan the refusal to give a loan because you know the sabbatical year is coming is itself a Prohibition you're not allowed to do that okay those are Mitzvahs today we will see you for more tomorrow God willing
