Day #132–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

[Music] is day number 132 of our daily study of ramam sefiramitous in the three chapters a day of mishna Torah we are studying helicus mice the laws of the tithe that goes to the levy and that is Chapters 4 5 and 6. we started it yesterday and we're continuing what today and we'll be learning it for uh another few days God willing okay so today's mitzvah is a repeat of yesterday's Mitzvah remember how it works the way that we study Safir mits was we're not going straight through one two three four five what we do is we study whatever mitzvah inseframe maimonides corresponds to the halach is currently being studied in the three chapters a day of mishna Torah which is also by the rambam maimonides uh so we have a repeat so we're going to learn it again in the Mitzvah again positive commandment 127. and we didn't mention it yesterday but we'll mention it today is this is a verse from The Book of Numbers otherwise known as by midbar chapter 18 verse 24. and it says the tithes of the children of Israel Hashem taruma which they set aside as a gift for Hashem [Music] I have given it to the levium as an inheritance and then the verse finishes that's why I told them meaning Hashem told the levium Israel among the rest of the Jewish people you will not receive an inheritance yes the levium did not have a tribal territory there were Libyan cities which we'll talk about uh later but they did not have a tribal territory their way of supporting themselves was by collecting these Miser these tithe donations from the Jews who did have land and therefore were involved in agriculture and would give a tenth of their uh of their produce to the levium and then the levium would be dedicated to more spiritual Pursuits okay that is our Mitzvah today we will see you for more Miser related Mitzvahs tomorrow God willing
