This is your full guide on how to
maximize the new American Express Resi
credit. At Dan's Deals, we've been
teaching millions of people how to
maximize their credit card points and
miles for the past 21 years. So, be sure
to follow us for more videos like this.
American Express recently introduced a
brand new $400 per year resi credit,
which is divided four times per year,
meaning $100 every quarter. The first
thing you're going to have to do is log
into your American Express account and
enroll in this new benefit. You only
have to do this one time. Now that
you're enrolled, all you have to do is
spend money at a resi restaurant. You do
not have to have a resi account. You do
not have to make a reservation via resi.
In fact, you don't even necessarily have
to go to a resi restaurant. And this is
where it gets really interesting.
Traditionally, the easiest way to use
this credit would be to go to any resi
restaurant, which you find on their app
or website, and spend on your bill. Pay
however you want. Apple Pay, it doesn't
matter. As long as it's going on your
American Express Platinum card, the
credit will register to your account,
and you'll be refunded $100 per quarter.
But the fun part is you can actually do
this with gift cards as well. So if you
go into a restaurant, you buy a $100
gift card, that will be credited. The
big question everybody wants to know
about is, can you even do this online
without having to leave your house? And
the answer is yes, you can. The trick is
that it has to show up on your credit
card bill as coming from the restaurant.
So if they're using a service like
Toast, it will come from the restaurant
directly. But if they're using someone
like Cash Start to sell gift cards, it
will not work. My method is buy a $1
gift card or a $5 gift card to your
favorite restaurant and then see how it
bills. If it bills from the restaurant's
name, you're golden. Buy the rest of it
and do that every single quarter and
save up $400 in gift cards per year to
your favorite restaurant. I've been able
to negotiate with some of my favorite
restaurants where I'll actually have
them top off my gift card with $110 or
$120 for every gift card that I'm
buying. So, for example, Wall Street
Grill in New York City is offering a
$120 gift card for a h 100 bucks. So,
that means you're going to get $480 in
gift cards every single year with your
$400 credit. That is pretty sweet.
