AMEX Platinum Business Card Update 2025
1,303 views
The AMEX Platinum Business card update is a mixed bag. It lost some great benefits for travel. But did gain some good with 2x spending categories and bonuses when spending $250,000. The $895 annual fee obviously hurts. Clearly they are focusing on high spending businesses as customers. They did raise the signup bonus to as high as 200,000 points which is nice too. #travel #creditcard #business #amex #platinum

Did you hear the bad news about the MX
Platinum business card update? Not only
did they raise the annual fee by an
additional $200 for a total of $895,
but they also removed one of the very
best benefits. You used to be able to
redeem your points with a 35% rebate
towards any domestic airfare or any
international business or first class
flights. You can no longer do that. Now
you have to select only one airline for
the entire year and that's the only
place you can redeem your miles. and it
has to be a domestic carrier. They did
add a nice new benefit of $600 per year
towards hotels. That means in the first
half of the year, you could book a hotel
for $300 and the second half of the
year, you could use the other $300. But
the really great update is the 2x spend
category in all of these categories and
any purchase over $5,000 up to $2
million per year. That benefit used to
be 1.5 points per dollar. And this 33%
increase is actually huge for business
owners. And I I think AMX was being
really strategic here. I think they
don't want regular people having these
cards. There's a very high annual fee
and there's not a lot of benefits for
regular consumers. Unlike the Ammex
Platinum personal card that they added a
ton of great benefits and that's an
awesome card for everybody to get. This
business card is much more niche and
that's intentional because they want
business owners to be using this card on
large purchases. And to double down on
that, they added another benefit. After
spending $250,000
on this card, you unlock $1,200 back in
Airfare and a $2400 MX1 AP credit.
Unlike the Platinum personal card
update, which I really liked. I was a
huge fan of it. I I really didn't see
any downside besides the annual fee
raise, and the new benefits far
outweighed those. With the business
card, I could see a lot of people
closing this card because of this
update. What are your thoughts on the
new platinum card updates?
