giving children open access to the internet where telling the world come educate my child in any topic one of the very first things that we need to recognize as adults is technology today is completely different than the technology that was around when we were younger kids are being exposed to things of an inappropriate nature at ages that are not developmentally appropriate children are naturally curious especially a child who's going into sixth grade seventh grade eighth grade and his phone can in one minute get him to the lowest places in the universe you know we're handing over our children we're asking our teachers to educate our children um and it's a losing battle right the kid went to sleep at who knows what hour you know they were exposed to who knows what content and now we're asking them to focus on chumash or navi that's a real challenge [Music] so as most of our parents know by now tag has been at the forefront at protecting our children from the dangers of the internet just like when a person wants to be healthy and eat healthier and lead a healthier lifestyle they'll visit a nutritionist when someone has a medical issue they look for an expert to diagnose it and to treat it the same thing when it comes to technology it shouldn't be the parents trying to figure it out themselves rolling the dice and hoping for the best outcome you go to the experts and that's where tag comes in when i constantly have another option consider engaging in another creative activity or i could sit back and watch another youtube clip i can watch another video if that's always an option that temptation has significantly marginalized our students growth development they've definitely seen a change in the type of misbehavior that's happening in the classrooms from the words that are being used to the different you know ways that they're treating each other they'll meet strangers on the internet a lot of these things the metaverse or roblox or those types of things they can meet a stranger these programs or websites or apps are immersive and you enter into a world with with strangers and you have no idea who your child might be talking to we all know that when it comes to relationships how we relate to our children how we relate to our spouses when we compare that to the world's view that where they portray a different type of relationship and in reality in the way we relate to our children and our spouses we understand that real life is different than it is on the screen when our students come from a world at night scouring the blogs and hearing unfiltered feedback generally in the more negative space and they're seeing language i mean they're being exposed to unfiltered opinions of various ages and backgrounds they're coming in with that language they're coming in without thinking they're coming in with that negativity that stuff permeates a child's heart whenever we meet with parents about students that are having behavioral issues in school or academic issues there's never a time where their bedtime is not one of the problems that they're facing and that's often has something to do with lack of regulating of the use of smart devices when it comes to almost anything that we see in our society anything in the world anything that's highly addictive and possibly can damage your health it's all regulated right i mean a kid wanted to have a cigarette he can he has to be of age he wants to drive he wants to have alcohol any of these things are regulated to make sure that children are protected when it comes to internet addiction and addiction to some of the most dangerous things on the internet there is no instant body reaction there's no physical reaction to let you know you're in a bad place we're at a disadvantage our kids are born with all this technology they know how to use these things better than we do but if we don't uh make ourselves aware of the dangers that each one of these technology each one of these apps each one of these programs we're not aware of it we're just not going to be able to take care of our kids in the way that's necessary parents it's time to recognize and listen and open up your eyes to the fact that the principals the schools the administrators is reaching out to you to tell you that the future of our children is dependent on the choices that ultimately you make so i think as parents we have to recognize how powerful our interactions are with our children from before they're introduced to their own devices so at this point we all know about the issues and the dangers that the internet presents to adults and to children alike the good news is that there are solutions there are solutions that can make our lives safer our children's lives safer everything is within your control and everything is going to be tailored to your needs filtered router and that will filter your entire internet that's coming into your house tag stands for technology
