Rabbi Shlomo Diamond on the Takana that Saved Our Community

And my mother said, you could have had that those years in the 30s, you could have had the whole community intermarry. That's how it was. It was very bad. And he saw that sense [music] that it made a special takana, and that takana saved the community without a question. The edict that you're going to be ostracized from the community was able to eventually win them over and give them the strength not to, you know, give in to their desires to marry the the that they wanted to marry. It's unbelievable. Amazing how this man and with such a community that was not as religious close [music] to what we are today. Wasn't close to that, yet to make a such a strong takana against getting and against accepting getting with the understanding that you're not going to really have a get set, and therefore he made this takana that saved our community without a question.
