[music] >> Well, the goals of Torah Um are twofold. >> [music] >> Number one, we want to give the kids discipline. So, when they get out of school at 5:00, it's a long night. So, we want to get them into a discipline that they have to use their time wisely. They have to come to the synagogue. They have to sit down and learn. Secondly, it prepares them for real life because these kids are not going to be in high school forever. This won't be something new to them. They'll be used to spending nights in the Beit Midrash. [music] When a young man is involved in learning Torah in a relaxed environment, that now [music] penetrates to his heart. That makes him a new human being. Part of the program really is that they should bond with their rabbi outside the classroom setting, and that [music] bond should be a seed really which is planted for a future, a more productive relationship with the rabbi. And you think these kids just want to go home and veg, and stare at [music] a screen for 6 hours straight. And that's not what it is. Comes 8:00 at night, and you see kids [music] bustling through these doors. They get connected to what they're learning. They get connected to their rabbis. To learn at night on their own voluntarily shows us that they have an unbelievable [music] potential and an eagerness to learn. Whatever that student needs, we tailor-make the class around [music] each student because we understand that each student is different. And when you're coming back at night for optional learning, you need something that speaks to you the most. >> [music] >> You just love it. You love being here. You love wanting to come here every night. You want to come early. You want to stay late. You want to just be around the rabbis cuz you just have such a good relationship with them. >> It's very chilled here. We could be with our rabbis, and we could just be like friends with them, but at same time like learn with them. In school, you have to do for tests and for assignments, but here you learn for the fun of it. >> Torah Chaim gets me connected to my rabbis. I had my cousin's wedding about a month ago. And right as the chuppah ended, I decided I don't want to miss class, so I went across the street for about an hour. And I learned I would never have done that. But now, I was like, I don't want to miss class. It's packed every night. The Torah Chaim program for the girls, we meet with them once a month. They are also in touch with us through chats. They are the future of our community, and the this program will shape them and guide them into the future mothers and wives of our community. My favorite part of the Torah Chaim program for girls is the chance to connect with my teachers [music] on a deeper level outside the classroom. >> Last summer, we had a Shabbaton by my house in Deal, and that led us to creating the No Lashon Hara chat. And on this chat, we learn tidbits of the Chafetz Chaim, and that helps us to be careful [music] with our speech. From going to the monthly classes, I started reciting to you lim, and then I noticed that it's so much more than just words. It's something I feel when I say it. Connecting with those words [music] really changed my outlook on life. This is different than regular learning because we have a choice to go and grow and connect with our teachers and our show. And it's projects like this that help us grow and be the best people we can be. Feedback is phenomenal. Parents feel good >> [music] >> cuz they see their kids, their confidence is good. To the credit of the Yeshiva, I mean, they're really amazing. [music] It shows their generosity. It shows the culture of Magen David these days. If you do come, you'll get more knowledge, you'll understand Torah better, you'll love the Torah, and you'll be able to to learn everything from these rabbis. You take our youth and you keep them connected to the foundations of what our grandfathers laid out for us, you're now building a successful future for our community. You're investing [music] in Torah, you're investing in education, you're investing in the youth, you're keeping them off the streets. >> [music] >> It's the community, It's in our synagogue. So, it's a I think it's a great investment on many levels. >> [music]
