MDY Israel Solidarity Trip Video

[Music] there was a first solidarity mission that was attended by trustee Berto Sutton he came back impassioned and very very confident and sure that everybody must go and one thing he said that really really rang home to me was he said you know they felt abandoned after October 7th I had never thought of it that way and the idea of doing it for mag and David it seemed a tall task and where do you begin and how do you know what to do and it's wartime and where do you go and is it safe and there was so many questions in that moment with such short amount of time but the purest of intentions I saw the power of [Music] Team my expectations of the trip were to go around see the devastation that happened understand it firsthand and obviously to spread Goodwill whether it be giving out gifts showing them the akut showing them the strength of US of our Unity I just felt like if I could give them a little support maybe some love let them know that the United States and the Syrian Jewish Community Megan David is behind them and are here for them they had no idea that we consider them all heroes my family and over in Israel October 7th for Suk the cries and the blood of our brothers and sisters in Israel are just screaming out to us and we must do whatever we can I was very grateful to have the opportunity to go it came full circle from being there October 7th and now being able to return and help however we can I would wake up every morning and there was just a void like I'd be crying and really empathizing feeling that pain I said how could it be that they're there and we're here living our comfortable life yes we feel it yes we're praying but if I have the opportunity to go I have to go I'm so glad that I was able to embark on the mag and David Mission because we were able to see everything that we worked on in school with the students come to life one of the things that inspired me the most was visiting the soldiers in t Hospital one of the soldiers was telling us how he was behind the tank and then he heard the shots go off and as he was crawling seek safety he saw his leg laying behind him he just went to safety tated his leg and waited for help and he had a smile and I want to go back I'm waiting for my prosthetic leg so I could go back and then I saw a rabbi mansor crying and it broke my heart cuz even a rabbi that sees so much was affected and it stays in my heart every time we went to see somebody they brought us in they hugged us they're not soldiers they're actually [Music] Heroes what was amazing about this trip is we had so many lows but so many highs also interwoven and the way it was planned was really well thought out we went from Kar AA and B and seeing the destruction there and feeling it and and being spoken to by D whose family is now in shatters his mom and his brother were murdered there but he's focused on rebuilding right now and he spoke to us and they're so strong what he relayed to us is that's what their goal is now to rebuild meeting with Maya and it reg being in their home here were two people that I knew were taking hostage I had a certain idea of their story and whatnot but in reality they didn't know me they had no idea who I was the way that they told their story the way that she says how they put her to sleep in order to operate on her leg and she wakes up and she sees that her leg is put on backwards and instead of herself being upset about that she says my leg is backwards but you know what at least I have a leg I'm lucky and I'm walking into their home and how are we going to give them the crazy part of all this is I walked out with strength from them two girls Reed from their car where their parents were murdered in front of them no one knew they were in the back seat their grandmother their father's mother she was beside herself and I'll never forget the image of Rabbi Manor's mom pulled up a chair right next to her held her hand the entire time through the story whispered in her ear words of encouragement wiped her face with tissues brought her a glass of water paying that chocol in essence and being by her side and even knowing what to say to her and giving her those words of encouragement for all of us to see that was just something again you can't put into words what that taught me afterwards is there is no doubt we're going to win this war we're broken now we're going to pick up the pieces we made a wedding for a couple she was an orphan it was the best wedding ever there was music there was happiness there was everyone in just regular streets of clothes we had so much fun it isn't about the cost value of what a wedding costs it's the couple and the happiness that everybody else gives it was very moving the part that really stood out was how all sectors of the religion was United the ceremony was officiated by Rabbi grman himself and when I saw the enthusiasm he had and the love that he had for this couple I was amazed I always had a love for the land of Israel but I came back with a love for the people of Israel that I never had we all just came together and regardless of our background we're all Jewish that's the bottom line to be together like that for a common purpose that was real and pure and then see the impact it's Priceless Rabbi Grossman spoke to us he said to us you know I never met a non-religious Jew every Jew has aim and that's exactly what we saw with everybody that we met they could try to extinguish our flame but instead they ignited us we became one big light we became one nation that just is shedding light around the world something that really inspired me was making the bar and Bot mitzvas for the displaced children we are blessed to be in a community where our boys and girls they grow up with learning T and our Traditions that might not be the case with children in Israel it hit me when the girls opened up the SE and couldn't say mod I said wow we're giving them tools now hopefully they'll be able to want to learn how to read I want to thank so much Rabbi mansor his wife his mom this trip was so meticulously planned we've got to see things that I'm sure no other group's got to see and I cannot be more thankful to the team I want to thank our entire mag and David Community your flavor your input your spirit your love your voice was heard a very very special thank you to to Rabbi mansor and his wife to Mrs mansor for being the spiritual guide and our strength throughout to and Haim you are the ultimate leader in your very humble way it was you it was absolutely you who made this trip number two happen toor Margalit you are our angel you're so much more than a Hebrew language teacher that I am convinced of but we are blessed to have you to Gladis anona and the business office you put all the moving Parts together so much so that we had a very efficient and impactful trip we have been in this together in every single way writing letters saying to helim cheering and singing with isai REO thank you PTA everybody showed that when we do things together we have that much more powerful and we're certainly able to get through these challenging times and inshah we're going to see the miracle that hashem's going to perform for all of us and we're going to celebrate like we've never celebrated before so thank you and I'm [Music] is [Music] Med
