Two years ago, they said it couldn't be done. They said this race wasn't competitive. They said our community wouldn't show up. They predicted a 7030 defeat. But we had other plans. Together, we built something bigger than a campaign. Neighbors knocking on doors. Firsttime volunteers finding their voice. Seniors sharing stories of the struggles that they overcame. [music] Parents bringing their children along so they could witness democracy in action. We didn't just run for office. We built a movement rooted in community. [music] Block by block, door by door, conversation by conversation. We listened, we organized, and we believed. And on election night, we shocked the pundits, falling short by just 200 votes in the most closely contested election in the entire state in a district that they thought would never rise. That's not a loss. That's a mandate unfinished. [music] Because real change doesn't start in marble halls. It starts in living rooms. In the brownstones that have housed generations, in the storefronts that light up our avenues before sunrise. In the prayers whispered in our houses of worship. In the rhythm of subway tracks and the laughter of children in our parks. Brooklyn has always been where dreamers become builders. Where struggle becomes strength, where every block carries with it a story. Communities built this city. Communities carried it through hardship. Communities turned diversity into strength and struggle into opportunity. And when communities decide that they deserve more, that's when the history happens. I'm running again. And I'm doing it because I believe in the power of people united. Because our families deserve affordability, safe streets, strong schools, and leadership that shows up not just during election season, but every single day. This campaign isn't about one person. It's about a community that has recognized its power and demands the future that it deserves. Two years ago, we proved what we can do. Now we finish what we started. Not almost, not someday.
