hello this is part two of the of p as we
said the in regards to the the most
important to get rid of is the inside us
uh to uh not go over the entire issue
again but just to give you a perspective
in a in a story there was one guy that
was a very big Gan very big prideful
person very arrogant one day he arrives
at the sh and the rabbi sees this guy
with his head in the sky and the nose
even higher and he says to them ah p is
coming up I uh I know you don't keep it
but uh one day you'll do CH the guy says
no no no what are you talking about
Rabbi keep p goes no you don't keep P of
course you violate P go no Rabbi what
are you talking about I keep PES how
could you talk to me this way he says
well you know in PES we have to get rid
of the and you know we say that part of
getting rid of theet is burning the ketz
and you know whatever we uh we haven't
found and we don't know of we say that
says that
whatever is uh that I know of or don't
know of is considered dust and Ashes but
when you say it there's no way that you
can mean it he says why would you say
that Rabbi he goes because we say the
same blessing for ourselves to Hashem
every single day we say Hashem consider
us like dust and Ashes we are only dust
and Ashes AEM and uh you know we
shouldn't get any any uh you know
shouldn't have any Pride there's no
reason for us to be prideful so just
like you don't mean it every day when
you pray you probably don't mean it
during during P so the rabbi was had a
very clever way of teaching this guy a
little bit of M to bring him back to
Earth because again it's very very
important time to do CH is p because
again we have to be reminded when we
were in Egypt the ones that survived as
we said in our lecture some say was only
one out of
five survived and there's actually a mid
in that says one out of
500,000 Jews survived MIT and actually
reached the mount sa and received the
tah one out of 500,000 that means two
out of every million and those two the
few million that actually survived were
still in the 49th level of Tuma 49th
level of
impurity it's when you really think
about it how bad you know if they were
in a 49th level of impurity which is one
level away one sin away from being the
worst kind 50 the unrecoverable level
you know where were the ones that stayed
behind so again this is shows us that
part of the
whole uh celebration of PES is not just
a celebration obviously we have to be
happy we have to get together with
family it's also a time for us to
celebrate Hashem giving us another
chance Hashem giving us a chance to do
chuva as it says in parat Bo in Exodus
or seph uh chapter uh 12 verse 19 for
seven days leaven may not be found in
your houses for anyone who eats
leavening that Soul shall be cut off
from the Assembly of Israel whether a
convert or a native of the land you
shall not eat any leavening in all your
dwellings shall you eat matot so here we
see an outright verse in Exodus from
Hashem telling us not only that we're
obligated to eat mat but also that we're
not allowed to eat and why because
anyone who eats
during PES is not considered Jewish
whether they're a convert or they're one
that were born Jewish hasem is
specifically telling you it's irrelevant
what does it mean whether convert a
convert is considered 100% Jew why is he
mentioning convert here he says because
right now just people from Egypt decide
to convert so they're still new and they
may want to use this as an excuse no I'm
new to Judaism I just did chuva I just
converted no no no no my friend you know
I'm telling you out right you're not
allow to eat you're not allow to eat
this is a you know it's not that big of
a deal it's a big deal if you violate it
why because it's a simple rule not to to
to follow so as far as we've talked and
extensively about it but just to add a
couple of points about it to finish off
the KET part and then we'll go over into
another
issue um the KET is not is not going to
be allowed after the fourth hour of the
day according to the sages after the
fourth hour of the day on Friday uh
after the fourth hour you are no longer
by the fifth hour technically
you are no longer allowed to sell the
you must burn it so obviously everyone
that has KET that they want to keep if
it's closed packaging of expensive
liquor uh closed packaging of expensive
food that you don't want to throw out
and you want to sell it to a non-jew you
can do it but you must do it before that
time once that time comes on Friday you
are no longer allowed to sell it you
must Burn It You Must Destroy it you
cannot keep it in your house you not
cannot keep it anywhere else You Must
Destroy it it could be a million bottle
of uh of whiskey you're not allowed to
keep it so again make sure that you go
to your local Rabbi and sell your
whether you are uh at home or you're
traveling you still need to sell your
KET so that's something that uh we all
must
do um the another thing is again I
mentioned earli today you have to make
sure that you brush your teeth because
sometimes something can get stuck there
and you could have your in your mouth
the whole holiday and this is a sin it's
a very big sin just not worth uh uh
making uh
so make sure that you're not uh in any
position where you have any KET in your
possession not inside and not
outside uh moving on into uh other other
issues packaging of all Goods packaging
of all food that you buy must have an
obvious seal uh and obvious seal of
approval that it's kosher for Passover
don't take any chances on it it's not
worth it no food is that good to sell
yourself for it so make sure that all
food that you buy is 100% kosher a
Passover uh and be reminded that if you
keep something that's on P without
selling it and without burning it you're
not allowed to use it after PES because
you're not allowed to you're not even uh
allowed to use and enjoy something that
was forbidding a p if you didn't do this
mitah of actually selling it so again if
you made a mistake steak and you forgot
to sell your and that was there after
PES and after PES obviously is allowed
but that specific K is no longer allowed
so you must sell it moving on into the
next thing is as far as koshering uh the
pots pans utensils uh you must kosher
them uh because all of these uh pots and
pans and utensils absorb the non koser
food for PES non koser P obviously if
it's non kosher food in General then you
have a bigger problem of Kash but we're
talking about people that are eating
obviously kosher and you have a uh non
Kosher for PES food uh if the pot or pan
was used purely for wet food like food
that has sauces uh then it needs to go
through a process called aala which is
boil you know putting it through boiling
water but this is not to be done by you
just throwing some water on it you
should take it to someone that's a
professional that has a very very large
pot
that could literally fit any pot in it
in these boiling water uh that have to
have gloves and it's it's you know it's
a big ordeal so it doesn't cost much but
the point is that it's a uh many cases
it's free but the uh the bottom line is
that you have to do it you can't just do
it yourself this is for any powder pen
that used a uh you know wet food uh on
the other hand if this uh powder pan was
used in a oven or a uh a grill uh you
know for and and make dry food in it
then it requires libon lion Is Burning
uh so you have take it usually to the
same place the same Rabbi that does the
aala will do the LI it will burn to make
sure that all of the non kosif Passover
food that was absorbed into the Potter
pan or utensil was a uh is no longer in
it uh again this is to the average
person this seems a little bit extreme
but trust me when I tell you it's a it's
definitely worth it to not take the uh
not to take this risk and just do it
this is what Hashem commanded it's not
just something that we made up
recently uh so all of this should be
done by a professional as far as the
types of uh plates uh and uh cups and
stuff that need to be cerisedolls
asazi actually are on this specific
issue and they actually require haal
which is putting the glass if you want
to use it for Passover as well as the
rest of the year you have to before P
you have to go to the AAL uh if it's a
plastic wood bone uh or uh metal that
was used only for cold food then it just
needs uh you know
washing okay but if it was used for hot
food then hot food absorbs so for
example if you ate a steak or chicken
cutlet on it then you have to do the uh
if you're sapharic nothing you just wash
it if you're ashkanazi you have to do
aala if it was a
um uh you know if if you're a uh if it
was just cold food like cold cuts and
salads uh and things of that nature then
you just need to wash it regardless of
whether you're ashkanazi or spartic but
always double check with your local
Rabbi uh because certain communities
sometimes certain things uh when it
comes to porcelain clay or
ceramic uh these cannot be
cized uh for
p as a matter of fact another k for
anyone that's converting uh or anyone
that's a b chuva uh that used to eat
non- kosher food on it any type of non-
kosher food whether it's a non kosher
chicken non kosher steak or pig or camel
or whatever other uh food is out there
in this world if you ever ate non-
kosher food on this ceramic porcelain or
clay plate you are never allowed to use
it again you must throw it out uh there
is a p that says that it can be
koshered uh from uh kosher food to PES
but never from non- kosher food for
kosher food to P if you go if you ever
want to go through this headache you
have to put it in water uh uh new water
over three different over three days in
a
row and it's only if it was always used
for cold food so this is not really
relevant for most people no I don't
think anybody would really need to use
their plates that uh you know that
ceramic you could just use glass or
metal or something else but the point is
the K here is that if you ever ate non-
kosher food on a ceramic porcelain or
clay plate it can never be cized you
must throw it out uh this is the same uh
uh we learned this actually from s the S
the woman that was um accused of
cheating on her husband she was uh going
to drink this special water that had
hashem's name in it the ink of's name in
it uh was done in a uh this this clay
cup and the reason why is because the
sages teach us that just like there's no
way to kosher a clay that was that has
had impurity in it there's no way to
kosher a a marriage that has had you
know had cheating on it so if the woman
cheated she would drink the water and
she would die if she didn't cheat she
would get a blessing and all of her sons
would become big tadim and so on but the
point here is that we learn that the uh
the ceramic clay or porcelain cannot be
koshered uh this is part of hasem this
is literally in a toah as far as tables
and
countertops uh all you need to do is
just put some uh on a table just put a
cover you know just a cover for the
table there's no need to do anything
else table Toops and uh counters just
put hot water you know wash it with
really really hot water and that's
enough to uh to do it because generally
people don't eat off of the counter or
or tabletop uh but just hot water is
enough uh also because the tabletops and
counters generally don't absorb the uh
the food
uh to uh to finalize in the last couple
of things uh you have on Shabbat no uh
no form of work whatsoever is allowed to
be done starting the afternoon meaning
that you're not allowed to finish work
an hour before P you must finish work
before the
afternoon uh anything and at that point
you're no longer allowed to do any me
that is not related to PES so yes you
are allowed to drive but you're only
allowed to drive to the store to to buy
things for PES you're not allowed to go
to Home Depot and buy things to fix your
house next week uh you're not allowed to
go to a customer once the afternoon
starts on Friday that's it the holiday
in essence for you begins you're only
allowed to do you're only allowed to do
things that are relevant to P this is
the source for this is in the the oral
T page
50b anyone who does a nonrelevant on the
afternoon of P Eve will never see
blessing from it and will'll lose it in
a strange way this is what the Tora says
this is in page 50b so again even if you
close a deal that's $50 million on you
know at 3:00 in the afternoon on PES Eve
you could rest assure that there's going
to be no blessing from it so might as
well just delay it till after PES don't
worry Hashem is in control you're not
going to lose the
deal also next thing is there's no
eating of matah on the uh that uh
afternoon of PES there's no eating of
matah you're not allow to eat you know
matah during the day of P so Friday no
mat whatsoever until the S so even
though you're not allowed to eat anymore
you're also not allowed to eat matah
you're allowed to eat everything else
chicken uh steak meat potatoes
everything else but specifically matah
you're only allowed to start eating
matah on the SED this during the Seder
that's when you're allowed to start
eating it uh only time you're allowed to
eat matah is if the matah was fried or
cooked meaning if you're putting it if
you know how to do it where you throw it
into your omelette which is very very
tasty you put some matah in a bunch of
different uh sauces or or um different
ingredients in it and it's part of the
uh part of the meal that's fine but it's
being cooked but matah by itself matah
with chocolate matah with jelly mat you
know that is not allowed until the
sedo um also you're not allowed to eat a
big meal or anything that's mesot any
cakes or cookies 3 hours before
nightfall which is generally Nightfall
is when we have the prayer and then we
have the Seder so you're not allowed to
have a big meal you're allowed to eat
small meals but nothing that's Mees not
no cake or cookies uh or anything that's
been
baked but uh why because you're supposed
to arrive to the Stater hungry uh this
is very very important cuz again the mat
you eat on the Seder is uh you have to
eat a lot of matah so you have to eat 30
gram of of matah uh and uh four times
and uh 30 gram of olive size um 30 grams
of mar so this is a lot of food by the
way especially if you don't have if you
have just the traditional matah the mat
that's a square matah that's a lot of
matah so in order to eat all of that mat
and and fulfill that Mitzvah you have to
eat a lot of matah
um the uh also there's AAG that the
first born fast on Friday on the day of
of P Eve fast all the way until the
Seder uh the way that uh they fulfill
this Mitzvah without fasting is by
listening by going to a s going to a
meal of a mitvah it's either a meal of
when someone finishes a part of
the completes a a track date of the gar
or a goes to a uh meal of a Brit or any
type of meal like a wedding on that
Friday which generally the only things
that are done on Friday on P Eve are
usually because no one wants to fast so
ask your local synagogue if someone is
finishing a track date of the because if
you're firstborn you'd have to fast that
day or at least that's the M you're not
obligated but it's generally a thanks to
Hashem for not killing the firstborn
Jews at the time of the uh of of of this
holiday uh man men must also uh attend
this uh this uh meal uh that they're
having for this but women should attend
it if they're POS if it's possible but
there's more leniency from the sages on
women because women generally have to
prepare for the meal so if it's not
possible for them the husband would
usually go bring them part of the meal
home and they could eat it at home but
generally it's better if the women
actually go doesn't take very much time
uh a person shopping for meat uh for uh
you know that's shopping for meat for
the holiday cannot say again cannot say
that this meat that he's buying is for
PES why because it sounds according to
the sages it sounds like he's saying
that he's preparing
aan preparing a sacrifice which is not
permitted since we do not have the bet
mikdash this is also the root of why
we're not allowed to have the lamb shank
the Z that many spartic have
unfortunately I mean until this day
where they eat a they eat a lme shank on
P Eve this is not allowed because it's a
in essence a form of a Corban a form of
a of a offering a resemblance to it so
this is not allowed uh you're allowed to
eat it on the the afternoon but you're
not allowed to eat it during the Eve so
if you're buying meat in general enjoy
your meat but do not save this me is for
p
um uh the uh last couple of things to
finish off you uh before PES before the
Seder everyone has to go to beet pray a
nice prayer of Alit which is a c
celebratory prayer it's a very nice
prayer uh it's different than the
traditional prayers we have during the
week uh especially that since it's
Friday which is you know Shabbat as well
as um P so this is is a opportunity for
you to get closer and closer to Hashem
before you even get home uh prepare one
of the things that a lot of people do
during P afternoon is prepare the olive
size matah which is supposed to be 30
gram but four pieces four times because
you have to eat four uh uh times 30 gram
throughout the evening and also two U
Mar uh that's 30 grams each so usually
most people to make sure that they
fulfill the Mitzvah in a precise way
they spend the afternoon cutting pieces
to make sure and weighing it to make
sure that it's 30 gr exactly and they're
fulfilling the Mitzvah so everyone
during the Sedar gets the uh you know
gets their portion so throughout the
night they're eating exactly what needs
to be eaten um this is a big Mitzvah and
the biggest part of the Mitzvah as we
mentioned earlier today is that you have
to tell the story of The Exodus to the
kids to the wife to yourself to your
guests your kids come first your wife
after obviously and then your guest do
not focus on your guest only you have to
focus on your own family uh first the
starts at home first not with the
neighbors and the people you see once
every three years so make sure that you
have studied everything you can about
the story of Exodus as I said you should
learn from the shirim we've made the
shim the RAB mrai made sh rabim klon
made about the parot uh that we made par
um all of the par that actually have to
do with with this holiday schot which is
the first book of Exodus uh then you
have V uh then you have parad you know
these These are the specifically those
three are the ones that have to do with
this uh this um um holiday lot of
Miracles a lot of wonderful things lot
of Amazing Stories we spent a lot of
time studying to make sure that we bring
you new so go and watch the it's a few
hour
for a lifetime of reward because if you
give your family your kids your wife and
your husbands your friends a good PES
full of stories they'll remember that
PES forever P with just Food they'll
forget you two days later and maybe even
complain so remember this is for hem and
it's not only for Hashem that because hm
needs it it's because we need it so
everyone has a kosher p an amazing PES
and remembers that the whole purpose of
PES is to remember why we were even
saved in the first place if we're giving
hem a reason if we gave him a reason
back then we need to give him a reason
now soem each one of us gives him a
reason on PES and every day after to
continue saving us to continue giving us
Miracles and to continue fulfilling all
of the promise he made to Abraham and
yob
