A good morning boys I
Leave English my senior citizen tomorrow
hi.
I could wait to you and all those who
are live right now mommies before Yom
Tov.
And a good
morning Yom Tov you watching this right
after Yom Tov.
It's quite for being here.
We are
on a sort of a marathon of sheer him
to make sure that the island has the
proper amount of sheer him and nobody
falls behind has a strong.
Pesach is a biggest cooler to fall
behind.
And if you don't know the trick, the
trick is
to
do the Duff that everybody's holding on
to the island is holding enough Peters
on Saturday whatever it is that's the
Duff you do.
And whatever you missed you jot down
somewhere and you'll make it up
eventually one day believe me you'll
make it up today you do today's Duff.
And the bigger trick is not to fall
behind and to learn on Yom Tov I know
it's difficult.
After the suda
copper right a few minutes here few
minutes there you don't need that 7 hour
nap in the afternoon you could also do
away with six you can learn a stick of
tire.
It's a reminder for the island to say
see
right now in hood start it's 5 days in
the island if you're watching this on
Matsi Yom Tov it might be
seven.
Oh, sphere is so immer is available for
dedications the first had more my vision
schita you can put anything in there you
don't have to put the first of but
somebody took it already for this day
the first had more
my vision schita quite do this more show
Leia asked the Lord for shame all.
Sponsor a day or all of the island in
the white Duff calm slash sponsors.
WOW.
WOW, IT'S QUITE a mark.
This is nice this is a nice surprise.
Let's see.
I have her.
Cool man, we're going to hold these two
with Jacob.
It looks a little tired no look at his
eyes the little
looks like he did a one two many
concerts over there no.
He needs a stickle nap tonight.
Wow, not the only one.
You have all the okay Jacob you should
go I'm looking forward.
Cooling it is I'm going to hold you to
it listen usually I don't allow people
to go and start by new Messiah but you
insist that's it we're going to we're
going to hold you to it.
Ooh.
The river of mine.
Wow.
The market have a market.
I get Yom Tov I get Yom Tov thank you
usher Warner from KMR.
Thank you.
Listen there's a lot of surprises here
today.
I'm showing the desk all. I could Yom
Tov read Ali

Exactly
>> [snorts]
>> ah.
You're bringing mommies ah for cloudy
serum everybody enjoys
your learning

Thank you Reb Ali again I get Yom Tov.
It's quite a ah.
Yes he.
Is that the show he was
So what is that was on a fast speed or
something?
But I think Shwaki is saying his song
okay that makes sense.
What do we have here?
>> [music]
>> It's quite A MOIST STORAGE.
OH.
HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN A WHILE.
WOW, it's quite a I miss you.
You haven't been by the last Shabbat
home we missed you.
What is more balance no these are
surprises each one what is this?
Reb Ali a good
This is not
you know a few weeks ago you caught me
in tons of river and you feel handler
actually pulled me over to watch you
getting a Duff and at that moment it
opened my eyes to really think about
considering starting the Duff you mean
so while I'm still considering it just
know how much you give to all of us and
inspiration and continue to do your
great work a good Yom Tov.
But now I have to go because my market
share is down the street good Yom Tov.
>> [laughter]
>> Very good very good very good okay
listen
as long as he's learning tire.
Listen to this
Jacob Shakhnes wrote he wrote me a few
things in the past he he's a great
writer.
I like this a lot it's quite a mark I
felt I couldn't go on without writing a
few words how many how many minutes are
we in cuz we really got to hustle here
it's almost Yom Tov.
There are thousands upon thousands of
you getting learning every single day
connected to tire in a steady consistent
way but behind that I mean all of them
ask me believe all the hours the effort
the constant adjustments the recordings
in multiple languages the coordination
with so many people across so many hours
is something that can't be fully
understood
from the outside it's mysterious
knowledge in the deepest sense and yet
what shines through most is not just the
effort but the heart the fire the MS.
Something incredibly powerful about
these days especially around Pesach
when
the world feels scattered when people
are in different places let me read it
from here.
And different schedules somehow the
tires being learned in all places and at
all times.
It's as if a quiet global
cold tire is rising nonstop circling the
world and you are at the center making
that possible thank you.
That is not just a Duff Yomi movement
that is the schmear of a quiet Israel
living breathing source that is hard to
put into words on a personal level it
has changed me to be able to hold on
onto daily learning to do hazard to turn
even simple moments like cleaning for
Pesach into moments filled with tire
that is a gift a real gift.
And I'll be honest seeing you after long
hours at the look
oh yeah yeah yeah.
With that look in your eyes
carrying both exhaustion and something
what I don't get see
don't look exhausted at all.
It's something so much deeper it doesn't
weaken the what doesn't weaken the
message it doesn't weaken the message it
literally strength strengthens it it
shows what tire looks like when it's
lived with MS.
Inspires more than words ever could like
I've told you in the past and probably
will say it over and over and
I feel humbled and honestly privileged
to be part of this to learn through
something built with such sincerity and
such sacrifice.
The boys I
there's such a big team there's a team
and I showed in the other sheer Yossi
working the four something in the
morning
working Mark Ashkenazi online
it's a team it's the whole team it's
unbelievable believe
I yeah yeah okay.
May you continued choir brocha and
simchas live and all that you do I mean
and may we continue to grow together
through this incredible light can't wait
to have you back hugs and
Jacob Shakhnes beautiful.
All right now that I have tears in my
eyes we could start the Duff.
It's quite a
the the typical Arab Yom Tov Duff with
tears in the eyes.
So tell me the mark.
Actually we're holding by the mission.
Pay Zion almond base.
Yeah.
Good.
Oh we have to do
sponsors.
>> [laughter]
>> Yeah they didn't print sponsors okay
that's their problem.
They'll have to maybe the editors will
put it in meanwhile we go by there here
goes the official edition of the white
shots himself by the Iranian Levy
families the parent by anonymous with
gratitude to Hashem.

behind the scenes.
MDY art for the month before shleima

I said he came to visit me. I didn't see
him in the basement for a while but he
came to my front door. He just wanted a
hug. I gave him two hugs.
He should have a refuah shleima refuah
shleima Mordechai ben Esther. We love
Mordechai ben Esther. She should have a
refuah shleima b'koriv.
A complete refuah shleima. The refuah of
Daniel
ben Ayelet Esther. Says the Hilchos
Mishna
daf peh zayin amud beis on the bottom.
Sheva middos shalachu b'Mikdash.
There's seven measurements for liquids
in the Beis Hamikdash.
We just finished talking about the two
or three measurements for solids for
flour.
Now we're talking about the different
measurements for liquids. The Gemara is
going to tell us what you need each and
every one.
Hin
So we start off the Tanna starts off
with the largest one.
Hin
v'chatzi hin. So hin according to the
Chazon Ish hin is about 7 liters. Chatzi
hin will be 3 and 1/2 liters. So that's
the that's the most chomer dik
shiur here it is.
You have the hin which is 7 liters and
it goes all the way down to a quarter of
a lug which we call today a revi'is.
So on Pesach night we're supposed to
drink a kos. Each kos should be a
revi'is. That's the smallest shiur.
And according to the Chazon Ish that's
approximately 150 milliliters.
A quarter according to Rav Chaim Noeh
it's 86 milliliters.
And according to Rav Moshe Feinstein one
should be makpid on 100 milliliters
which is easier to to remember. The way
people remember it is kos.
Chof plus sameach is 80 and the vav is a
six. 86 milliliters according to the
Chazon Rav Chaim Noeh.
And according to the Chazon Ish it's kos
choglin which equals 150.
And Rav Moshe is somewhere in between
so it's kedai to do 100.
Okay.
So says the Mishna
you start off with the largest
measurement. The Mishna starts off but
then we're going to see that
according to the view that we start off
with the lowest measurement. What the
nafka mina is the Gemara is going to say
but over here we start. The largest
measurement is about 7 liters according
to the Chazon Ish much less about 4
liters according to Rav Chaim Noeh.
V'chatzi hin there was a measuring cup
that [snorts]
was a half a hin. Well half of that
measurement. And then you have shlishis
a hin or revi'is a hin like keves yayin
right?
Lug lug [clears throat] v'chatzi lug
or revi'is lug g'vohak. These are the
seven.
The um
the first motzei Shabbos after Rav
Shlomo's Rebbetzin was nifteres
so he asked for a certain cup
to make Havdala.
So they brought him the cup that he
usually makes Havdala in.
And he said no no the other one.
And he explained that
his wife insisted on
that he should use this cup because she
got it from yerusha this and the her
mishpacha
but now that she's not around anymore he
doesn't he he's not machuyiv to use it
and he wants to be makpid on the shiur
of the Chazon Ish. So in other words
that cup was good for the Rav Chaim Noeh
he wanted to be makpid on the Chazon
Ish.
And when it got to Pesach
as soon as she was nifteres he started
being makpid on
putting away this this chumra to put
water away to use water that was set
aside before Pesach. Such a chumra.
And the reason why he didn't do it while
his wife was still alive is because the
first year they were married he asked
his wife to set aside water for Pesach
and she she said she forgot. She says oy
you forgot nishkaf it's not the end of
the world. It's not such a important
chumra so in order not to hurt her
feelings he never was makpid on it their
entire marriage. After she was nifteres
he said I got to I have to be makpid on
it. It was a I did it not to hurt her
feelings but now that she's not around
it's b'seder.
Ah middos tovios.
Rav Eliezer ben Tzadok omer shnosav
choyu b'hin.
There were different demarcations
on the measuring cup.
In my Rashi here I don't know what
everybody else has. In my Rashi there's
a picture a rudimentary picture. So
like a typical measuring cup.
This much is a chatzi a hin. This is
revi'is a hin. This is a lug.
A revi'is lug etc. Different marks on
the
on the actual measuring cup.
So in other words he argues and he says
there weren't seven different measuring
cups. It was one measuring cup that had
demarcations in it.
Ad kan l'far this is chatzi hin. Ad kan
l'ayil.
This is shlishis hin. Ad kan l'keves
this is revi'is hin.
Rav Shimon omer lo hoyo sham hin.
The largest measurement didn't exist.
B'chima hoyo hin shamash?
The hin was used once by Moshe Rabbeinu
in order to make shemen hamishcha which
lasted forever.
But there's no purpose for it
afterwards. That's it. Klal Yisrael
never made shemen hamishcha anymore.
Elo middos yeseiros lug so but you have
to have seven. And the Gemara is going
to go into each step why do you have to
have seven and why according to the
other men why do you have it?
Elo middos yeseiros lug umetzah shom.
There was
a a measurement called a lug and a half.
Sheva middos l'minchas Kohen Gadol
that's what they measured the oil for
the Kohen Gadol's mincha every day.
Lug umetzah b'voker lug umetzah
b'arba'im. So the seventh
measuring cup was one and a half lug.
Tanna Rabbanan three lines from the
bottom sheva middos shalachu b'Mikdash.
So now
this Tanna is going to go from the
bottom up.
Start from the the smallest one. We know
the smallest one is a revi'is.
Revi'is lug
chatzi lug lug revi'is hin shlishis hin
chatzi hin v'hin. Divrei Rabbi Yehuda
this Rabbi Yehuda starts from the bottom
up.
And now we have a freebie because we had
this in the Mishna.
Even the other one was a freebie. Rabbi
Meir omer hin chatzi hin shlishis hin
revi'is hin lug chatzi lug revi'is lug.
Rav Shimon omer lo hoyo sham hin.
There's no hin. B'chima
shamash? Hin shamash? What do you need
it for? Daf peh ches amud dalet.
>> [snorts]
>> Daf chabara'in. The boy's side we're daf
chabara'in.
Es mi ovi tachas.
What is it what is it used for?
Elo middos yeseiros lug umetzah shom. So
in fact there was something else called
one and a half lugs. B'ima Kohen Gadol
don't you it's a freebie. We read this
in the Mishna.
Lug umetzah b'voker this was for the
Kohen Gadol's chavitin one and a half
lug in the morning lug umetzah
b'arba'im.
Amru lo efsher chatzi lug hoyo sham.
Efsher l'shayer b'chatzi lug. Mark this
is why I was able to come 5 minutes
early. I didn't realize that these lines
were a freebie. Once I realized I had
extra 5 minutes I didn't have to
prepare. Amru lo efsher lug hoyo sham.
Efsher l'shayer I'm kidding.
The efsher l'shayer b'chatzi lug.
He says why do you need a one and a half
lug?
You just take the half lug measurement
and do it three times you get one and a
half lug what's the problem?
Amru lo efsher he tells them after the
so
you can say that in everywhere. Chatzi
lug v'lug l'yosif then you even need the
half a log. You don't need the full log.
Revi'is how you say it in Aramaic. the
revi'is. Take a a becher from the seder,
the small bechers. I
bought a couple of small bechers. Why?
Because there's a there's an idea of of
drinking the entire cup.
So, if you start off with something
large,
you're going to have to drink this whole
thing. It's a problem. But if you don't
want to get too tipsy, but you want to
drink the revi'is and you want to drink
the whole cup. So, you get a cup that's,
you know, 150 ml.
According to the Chazon Ish or
86 according to the Rav Chaim Naeh.
Oh, he says, according to you, just take
a revi'is
and through the revi'is, keep on pouring
until you get to the to the shiur you
need. Revi'is shiur revi'is. That was
that club. I believe it was.
You know what? He says, the reason why
you need one and a half log is because
we had a rule in the Beis Hamikdash.
Klei shemishames midah zo umeshamesh
midah acheres.
You cannot use one measuring device for
something else. It's it has one purpose.
You can't try to measure
a one and a half log with a one log klei
and keep on measuring. Doesn't work like
that.
We learned in the Mishnah that there was
different demarcations, marks, measure
like your wife's measuring cup.
It says a cup, a half a cup, a quarter
cup. So, two in the Beis Hamikdash,
there was one measuring cup, but it had
different different markings.
Why does
the Mishnah say that according to Rebbe
Yehudah it goes from the
the smallest amount and it keeps
climbing until you get to the hin?
According to Rebbe Meir, it starts with
the hin and goes downwards.
What could be an nafka mina in the how
how we read it?
Omer Rebbe Yochanan, berutzei midos
ikibnei.
When you fill up the the cup
and the
oil,
the wine,
goes over the rim,
that's berutzei midos.
Man de omer, mimata lemala, according to
Rebbe Yehudah that he started off with
the smallest shiur and he went up, he
climbed up. Kosova berutzei midos
nischatu.
Whatever goes above the rim has a
kedushah like inside the cup.
Revi'is yovel Rachmana l'Moshe.
And Hakadosh Baruch Hu gave one
measurement to Moshe Rabbeinu, the
revi'is.
V'omer lei, sha'er
d'ko aili l'hu berutzei.
You should measure it
and you'll see that there'll be a like a
overflow, go above.
In other words,
you're going to try to take the two
I gave you a revi'is. Take two revi'is.
Take two of those and you'll make a half
a log.
Man de omer, mimata lemala, kosova
berutzei midos lo nischatu. But
according to Rebbe Meir, you're going
from the highest shiur down.
It didn't become kodesh. Why? B'ein
yovel Rachmana l'Moshe. Hashem gave to
Moshe Rabbeinu the larger shiur.
V'omer lei, sha'er b'chol d'kunaftei
berutzei.
Take from this and the berutzei, the
overflow is going to flow over.
So, when you start from the smaller
shiur, you're going to be left
with
some overflow. It's going to go above
the rim. But we start with the larger
one,
it that's not how it works. It's going
to fall to the side.
Explain a little bit more in a moment.
So, let's see what they did here. First
of all, berutzei. Here we go.
This is the over, the what what it goes
over the rim.
Ah,
the color, the it's perfect.
You take two revi'ises and you make a
chatzi log.
>> [snorts]
>> So, through the overflow, what goes
above,
reminds me, this made a big impression
on me.
Reb Zalman Auerbach asks,
there's a sugya that talks about
um making a
kodesh brocha.
And it says that what's the lashon over
there? Basically, he brings a raya.
The Gemara says that in its sites it's
lo shiyach.
That to have drops of the wine on the
outside of the cup
is not common.
So, as Reb Zalman Auerbach
understood, if you're supposed to fill
up kiddush above above the rims, what do
you mean it's not shiyach? Every time
you do that, it's going to drip on the
side.
From the fact that the Gemara says that
it's not common, that proves that the
Gemara doesn't want you or doesn't think
that you're going to go over.
And it's actually slightly below the
rim.
And I took that to heart when I when I
when I read what he said.
And I took it don't I don't go above
above. I go up to the you know, a little
bit below maybe.
My guess look at me, what's going on?
Zalman Auerbach said that you
shouldn't go, you shouldn't have the
shlish shiyach.
Maybe I shouldn't pasken based on this
kasha. I don't know.
Just made a big impression when I was
learning the sugya. Like, wow.
Ein fo
Abaye omer, d'chulei alma berutzei midos
ikla meima nischatu, vikla meima lo
nischatu. Says Abaye,
when it comes to the the the over,
the overflow, whatever you want to call
it, you go both ways. You could say that
according to everybody it's kodesh, it
has kedushah of the klei according to
everybody. It doesn't have kedushah,
whatever. But we could say the machlokes
is different. Rav Nachman bar Yitzchak
comes with
You know, the famous pasuk, shneihem
malei'im. So, the word malei'im,
what does it mean? Man de omer, mimata
lemala.
According to Rebbe Meir that he started
with the hin, the largest measurement
went downwards, kosova malei'im shlei
chaser v'shlei yoser. The word malei'im
means
it has to be exactly. Should be full,
not too much, not not below the level.
Man de omer, mimata lemala. But
according to Rebbe Yehudah they go from
the smallest shiur, you go from the
revi'is all the way up to the hin.
Malei'im shlei chaser. It means that it
should be full, meaning that you
shouldn't go below the line. Av yoser,
malei'im garina bei. But if you go too
much,
it's it's it's it's fine. Why?
Because and this l'chatchila you could
explain it before as well.
When you go from a smaller vessel to a
larger vessel, you're going to have that
foam. You'll have those bubbles.
And that always, even though you had the
right amount to start out with,
but when you start pouring it into the
klei, into a larger klei, it's going to
foam up and it's going to create
more. Like when you pour soda, obviously
when you pour soda it just psh.
But even with wine, similar, it has
certain bubbles and that's why it's okay
to have more. If you go from the smaller
klei to the larger klei, it's okay to
have more. But according to Rebbe Meir
they go from the larger klei to the
smaller klei, you don't have those
bubbles that much and therefore it has
to be exact.
Okay.
Omer Reb Shimon bar Yochai, shom hin.
Reb Shimon asked the bomb question.
There's no it's not necessary to have
this giant hin. What do you need it for?
Shapi kama l'Reb Shimon bar Yochai. He
said, well,
Reb Nachman have a hin d'Moshe Rabbeinu
sh'shimonim sh'cho. You're right. We
don't use it now. But Moshe Rabbeinu
once upon a time used it. The
sentimental value to the chashivus
shemen zayis hin. Mar Zutra when he did
the shemen hamishcha, Mar Zutra gave it
to the doros so they have it tzaruch.
Since for generations you don't need it,
Rebbi Shmuel had a big nose.
The famous Ignatz. Sometimes a chacham
took something and made it mizah. Put it
away forever.
So, they took this hin and they buried
it cuz it doesn't serve any purpose.
Rebbe Yehudah and the other man omer
says, the Tanna Kamma says, kivan
d'havei havei, once we have that
measuring cup, that measuring cup stays
in
the closet in the Beis Hamikdash and it
stays there forever.
Omer Mar, v'simi al bitachon. Reb Shimon
says, uh since I don't have the hin, I
got rid of it, so so now I'm left with
six keilim, six measurements. What am I
going to do instead?
As the Gemara, leisa gilui milta. So,
you won't have seven. What What happens
if you don't have seven? Nothing
happens. You have six.
No.
K'd'omer Ravina, gemiri sh'tei smichos
betzibur. We will learn in a few days
that this halacha l'Moshe miSinai,
halacha l'Moshe miSinai, that you have
to lean on two korbanos of the tzibur.
You know, when when a person brings an
individual korban, he leans with all his
might on the head. But when the tzibur
brings a korban,
you don't have that leaning really.
Besides, by the par aduma and the
la'azazel.
That's halacha l'Moshe miSinai. So, the
same way we have halacha l'Moshe miSinai
tells us they have to lean on two
korbanos,
how can I have gemiri d'sheva midos
halacha miSinai? So, we know from
halacha l'Moshe miSinai.
Torah miSinai, Torah sheb'al peh.
There were seven measuring cups. Now,
you have to figure it out. You have to
know. You have to we have to break our
heads, come up with the seven. What is
it?
If it's not the hin, we're not using the
hin anymore, so must be one and a half
log.
Rebbe Eliezer ben Rebbi Shimon omer,
sh'shimonim sh'cho. No, there's only one
measuring device and it had marks.
As the Gemara, leisa sh'va midos.
He doesn't what about the
we just discussed last night. No, he
doesn't have
the shamash you know.
He has a shamash
shamash he does but a shamash didn't say
seven measuring cups it said seven
shirim.
Seven measurements.
You can use all you can put all the
seven measurements into one cup all you
need to do is make marks in it.
Says the mishnah reveals my
shamash
now the mishnah is going to go through
all the measurements what do you do with
each one the is going to help it out a
little bit.
Reveals my shamash shamash what do you
do with the reveals?
Reveals my
we know we don't really talk about this
part of the
we're very familiar.
You have to put the blood on the on the
thumb and on the toe with the big toe
and on his ear and on the
whole thing put oil.
Blood.
But there's one part where we he has two
birds and he one bird.
And you put the blood of that bird into
the water that came from a a live a live
stream.
A mile.
These are things I threw in we have
newer and better but whatever this is
what I found.
So.
Reveals my
he needs a reveals or reveals
the monster.
So the monster his rough tour to man.
And he brings.
Collies.
And you need a reveals oil in the
column.
What
do you do with the half a log? Half a
log
you know the
she comes and her husband brings her and
then they take the
with the with the shamash name
they put it into this water was a half a
log of water.
The shamash
the 30 matzah breads there's 10 comments
30 matzah breads get.
A half a log of oil.
What do you do with the log?
Every mincha gets a log shamash.
Every gets one log.
Says the mishnah I feel shamash
every shamash
of a mincha gets one log so if you're
going to make one giant mincha which is
60 shamash and that's the largest one we
said.
If.
You can mix it in that bowl in the
largest amount that you can mix is 60 60
shamash so requires 60 log shamash.
In law a law loga.
Even a large mincha of 60 of flour
requires only one log of shamash not 60
log of shamash shamash is that there's a
possible mincha of a log shamash for any
mincha you get one log shamash.
Says the the mishnah shisha the par six
log.
In other words. A half a hen.
Cuz the mishnah talks about a full hen
half a hen.
A quarter of a
third of a hen.
So what do you do with a half a hen
that's for the par which is six log.
A
which is a
goes for the ram who
goes for the sheep. Three
and a half log for the
each candle gets a half a log.
You also have a bee.
Oh.
So that's a lot of oil if you think
about it.
If a reveals is 150 milliliters so
you're talking about 300 milliliters
it's a lot like two kiddush cups.
Whatever it is if
it's 86 so you still have.
Two kiddush cups.
Half a log the column there.
You also have a
reveals log shamash. Why do you need to
why did
have to be
punished? The reveals
why didn't need
if
To give the the to the water of the like
the mishnah says. Who so.
It's outside of the Zara.
Or outside of the
Rashi says outside of the Zara.
The
daff because of the base on top.
The monster and if it's.
For the oil of the monster
the the bread becomes college through
the we said.
I'm going to
shamash
shamash going to go.
The shamash
it's an order to measure one reveals one
kiddush cups worth of oil per each and
every column. And there's six columns in
the morning we said six columns in the
afternoon each column got a reveals.
Korea lay.
So it's interesting we're going to have
in the a few that
I'm going to be so excited.
Korea lay no this is here.
Korea lay it's
shamash is us.
He comes from a far out country from
bubble.
Is us. He gives he's a man that gives
us.
It's like
the
said.
When I'm in the it's.
So people come and they give me money.
And they ask me for and ideas when I go
to so.
People come and they ask me for money
and they give me. And ideas.
He
comes from a far place and gives me an
he told me good shot.
Oh the turning of the by our dad global
experts in cross border payments the dot
com please read the day because every
that happened was first read.
Okay what do we got?
Okay. [snorts]
Half a log may
you may shamash.
You also have a shamash half a log
shamash.
So it says in the mishnah what do you do
with the half a log it's for the
or for the the.
You also have a
half a log shamash
the shamash the shamash.
The water where does the water come
from?
This is the best I can do I know we have
much better we have already our stuff
this I got from.
Call the lotion.
I know it was already young tough by
Yossi. He did whatever he could do and
that was it.
Uh the the water comes from the yard.
And the itself has a
and gives and infuses to the water so
why do you have to be punished again?
The
shamash
mind
it should come straight out of the not
from the faucet.
The
if it's for the oil of the
the
the the
the breads of the become college like we
said before the same idea through the of
the carbon.
You don't need a special to be punished.
I'm going to be we just had him earlier
the son of says I'm going to have to
shamash never never.
With this.
Half a log this is how we divided the
oil for the oil.
I'm
once again we have a new Mary straw you
call them a Mary straw.
I guess that's where the got its name.
Mary straw it's a great name.
No I thought it's over here.
Hmm.
This [snorts] is gimel I thought it I
thought maybe it's a possible.
I don't see it now.
Okay.
It's not here.
So maybe this is only words but I
thought it's a possible.
Mary straw.
Interesting.
Okay I don't see it.
Mary straw you light up the the candle
of
that's
exactly what it is oh.
I get it okay this is
let me see I'm going to be
I'm going to be.
Mary straw so.
What happens if.
The
oil.
Extinguishes itself in the middle of the
night.
You
know what happens you know like you're
on Hanukkah.
The wick the black wick falls into the
oil.
It muddies up the oil the
wick itself becomes terrible case of
what should you do?
You should clean it out the noise
shamash the oil.
First you clean it out then you redo the
whole thing add the oil.
Add a add a wick and you light it and
it's good.
You also have a
ask
when you when you fill it up with the
oil can you
can you give a half a log start all over
with the whole half a log.
Okay, Moshe has to
or perhaps let's say
from the half a log, half of that went
down. So now you left with the reviews.
You're missing a review. So pour in a
review. Why why start off with the full
amount that is already lit for 3 4
hours?
I'm going to give me I'll tell you why.
She did the community original.
Obviously have to start all over again,
give it the full amount.
The community original because if
you have to add whatever is missing
if
you're going to if you're going to
How how you going to know what's
missing? Now the community original,
maybe you're going to measure with one
of your measuring cups.
You're going to take whatever is left
over
and putting it to put it into measuring
cup.
And now you see in the measuring cup
that it's let's say you have a review.
So you know you're missing a review.
Let's say you have a a half a review. So
you know you have to put three quarters
of a log. Whatever it is.
But you have to measure it in a special
measuring device.
But that's only good if you have you
know 30 40 different measuring devices
cuz every time it extinguishes at
different periods of the night and you
have to measure exactly.
So that's the community that can't be.
Can't be that you're you're taking the
leftover oil and putting it in the
measuring device. Okay, Shiva meters.
Not original meters to put many many
measuring devices.
And that's my right out that we don't
have to measure.
And just start all over from the
beginning. Just put it in the half a log
and show me the show.
Kore alei, he said a third possible over
here. Badarha slah.
So Rashi explains badarha
you take the hadarha and it's a lotion
of hidudin hidutha.
The hey and the dalid are
interchangeable. So your sharpness
hidudin
slah rehav dvar emes v'anava tzedek.
Because you so sharp you set a great
shot.
V'anami and the mamish meforesh a
freebie. Omer Rebba Omer Rebba. B'amla
Omer Rebba Abba Omer Rebba Hanina Omer
Rebbi.
Nerisha kofsa if a one of the candles of
a ner goes out nidashna nidashna sela
and the oil got
discolored and the wick is no good.
K'she'Eliza what should he do? Metiva he
cleans it v'osem b'shemen k'mida rishona
the original amount. You're bringing
hatzi log you pour it in umad l'ika and
you light it.
Omer Ravuna brei d'Rav Yehuda Omer Rav
Shishes.
Ner sheba midah sheprok m'ava.
Says the Gemara Omer Rebbi Hiyya that
nobody knows.
The lo y'diya daf knows this.
That the menorah was flexible. The gold
gold is very flexible.
And in order to clean out
let's say
a
perfect.
>> [snorts]
>> This is the the the glass that holds the
oil.
How how are you going to clean it out?
If it's stationary, how are you ever
going to clean it out?
The only way to do it is if you're able
to turn it over.
But how do you turn it over?
You take the
the stem of the menorah and you bend it
down.
Boom. Upside down like this.
And then once you're there you clean it
out. Beautiful.
Let's take a look.
This is removing the wick.
These are the milk of Hiyyam. You have a
like a tweezer device. You have a fork.
You have like a shovel.
And take a look over here. It's bent
downwards. For both sides bent.
Interesting fork he has over there. I
would use the tweezer in that situation.
Okay, pulls out the wick.
But once it's bent downwards
then you clean it out.
K'sovar she'meina sheprok m'ava. K'sovar
kicks if kikar. It says it's made out of
a a block umiksha and it's one hard
piece. A menorah v'ne'er sel k'sev.
It it it was one piece. It didn't come
apart. You can't unscrew it. It wasn't
made out of different pieces.
Given the boyata since you have to clean
it out you love the prokm'ava. Not if
not for the fact that it was flexible
v'havein metivelei you wouldn't be able
to clean it out ever.
Basically I'll ask you a question.
K'tzal
what how do you do it? Nisalku min
habayis.
You take apart the the menorah
and you take the wicks out and you put
in the oil. You put in the heichal.
Umikahn and you you
wipe it down b'sfog with a with a
sponge.
V'osem b'shemen v'alikin l'eid. You put
the oil in it and you you light it. A
body can see that you can take it apart.
U'd'Omer Rebbi Tarfon d'sanya chachamim
Omer Rebbi. Who's chacham the Gemara
The ner the top part never moved. It
didn't move. This part stays stationary.
U'man chachamim Omer Rebbi Lazar who
it's Rebbi Lazar d'sanya
Says how do you clean it?
So I asked Yossi to do something. Look
what he did. Mamish every Yom Tov last
minutes before Yom Tov.
If this is the the top of the menorah
the cup of the menorah said it had a
They actually I remember them selling
something like this. Like a metal piece.
That a piece made out of a gold
that sat on top.
And they would slide it
open.
You take the the the the wick clean it
pour in the oil through that hole.
And put the wick right back into that
hole.
Now I do want to say I asked Yossi to do
it in another shape but he said it was
too difficult for him at that point to
do it. It was more like the shape was
more like a canoe. You know like
like a boat.
It wasn't a round shape. But that's
okay.
This is for illustrative purposes only.
What does it mean k'mintasha? He said
people are not going to understand
maybe. K'mintashal oil gava.
The a thin piece of gold on top.
K'shumitiva and when he cleans the
menorah
k'lapi piyo he pushes it slides it
forward.
Sh'nosem b'shemen.
And when he puts the oil in k'lapi
rishon then he he he closes it up. He
puts the oil through the hole.
Omer Rebbi Yehuda Omer Rebbi Shimon
d'sanya
d'sanya menorah boys min kikar.
The menorah and the top glass the the
part they put the oil in all comes from
that one
piece of gold which weighed about what
50 pounds I think he said it was.
V'ein malchochav nachtzei min hakikar.
These guys the the tools that remove the
wicks
and the oil and cleans it out that was
not part of it.
V'lo inei Rebbi Shimon
sorry.
Rebbi Hiyya Omer and here this is a new
shita.
Menorah is above min hakikar.
The whole menorah came from the big
block of gold. The lo inei Rebbi Shimon
malchochav nachtzei.
Um
Mark how many people are on YouTube? I'm
just curious. Three five it's Erev Yom
Tov.
It came from the big chunk of gold.
And then he says he sticks in one word.
V'lo inei Rebbi Shimon.
Wow.
5 p.m. in New York and almost 50 people
on YouTube. 49 people on YouTube. Kol
hakavod. Unbelievable.
Hashem
the oil is
thirsty for Torah. Thirsty for Torah.
Yom Tov is in 2 hours.
So we have to finish up here, upload
this share and do another share real
quickly right before Yom Tov. Yishar
koach Mark again. Tzadik yesod olam.
So says Rebbi Hiyya he sticks in one
more thing. He says the actual cup that
held the the oil was not made out of the
that kikar.
Boys min
uh the lo inei Rebbi Shimon malchochav
nachtzei boys min kikar. Doesn't come.
Rebbi Hiyya and Rebbi Shimon one says
that the cup did come and the other one
says not. They both agree that the tools
not.
Rebbi Hiyya and Rebbi Shimon they they
argue in the pasuk.
D'sanya kikar zahav tor ya'aseh oisah.
You make
um the menorah out of one kikar zahav.
L'madu l'menorah sheb'mei then we know
the actual menorah comes from the kikar.
Min Rebbi Shimon Omer Rebbi. How do you
know that it comes to include the cups?
Tamar lomar es es kol hakelim ha'eileh
all these vessels. Yochsin Omer Rebbi
Shimon malchochav nachtzei. Maybe it
includes the tweezers and the fork.
Tamar lomar oisah.
Only menorah. Divrei Rebbi Hiyya. In
other words according to Rebbi Hiyya the
cups do come from the gold.
As the Gemara kasha Rebbi Hiyya Rebbi
Hiyya. A second ago we read from Rebbi
Hiyya that the cups are not included in
that one chunk of gold. And now you're
saying it is.
Trei d'anvei Rebbi Hiyya.
You're right. It's two two talmidim each
one thought he heard something else from
Rebbi Hiyya.
Rebbi Yehoshua ben Korcha Omer Rebbi
Tarfon kikar.
Rebbi Yehoshua ben Korcha says that only
the menorah came from the chunk of gold.
V'ein malchochav nachtzei b'nei Rebbi
Shimon and he holds like the part of the
Rebbi Hiyya that the cups and the tools
didn't come from that gold.
Rebbi Shimon Omer Rebbi Shimon
Omer Rebbi Shimon Omer Rebbi Shimon.
What am I going to do with the pasuk? Es
kol these vessels.
So Caleb shows off just the positive
just saying they come from gold but not
from the same chunk of gold from the
brick of gold that the menorah is made
out of.
As the Gamora is over here but
that's I don't need the positive that
that is my fortune of positive
Shiva the hell is a hairy banana.
Who
marked himself as a fortune of positive
you should make
the tweezer out of gold.
So the Gamora needs to have
been arrows.
Let's go back.
Been arrows.
This guy on top the cover
is made out of gold.
So
what's going to happen? Anybody that
ever lit the menorah and has a piece of
metal that covers it knows it becomes
black from the flame.
From the ashes.
I would think that the Torah
says
listen since it's going to become black
you love it so called who use impure
gold. Don't use the top quality use
gold. You want to use gold great but not
the top quality it's going to get burnt
anyway.
Call marshmallow on that's why I need a
positive to tell me no you make it from
the purest of the pure. The boys I have
a good Yom Tov. Thank you for being
here. You should go Mark. You should go
to all the editors to the the artist to
Yoshiba Fred. You should go to all the
money.
