Instead of 10%, you're going to come out with 20%, which is much more, double the amount. Lechem hapenim esrim arba isrin, you start off with 24 isrin, but you have 12 breads, it's a lot different. Mei esrim arba isin. You have esrim arba isrin, instead of one isrin for the omer, you get 24 isrin from 24 sa'im. Basically, you're getting a third. You you're you're producing 33% of the material. Says the Gemara, "My time, oh why is it that by the omer you get so little? You get 10% of what you started out with?" Says the Gemara, "I'll tell you why. There's a few reasons, a couple reasons. Kivan demichadash is brand new stock. It just came It It just It was just harvested from the ground a minute ago. Um demichadash also Um misoyim asi, and it's barley. So, barley is more inferior. It's inferior. Isrin mufchar lei asi al mishulash isin. I'm telling you the the the fact on the ground is that in order to come with a nice soiless product, pure of the pure, you need to start out with 10 times the amount of what the final amount is. Shnei aleichem shnei isrin mishulash isin. And what's the pshat over here? Why is two the two breads on Shavuos different? Kivan demichitna asi. We know the omer is from barley, but the shnei aleichem is from There's only two things that are from barley, right? The omer and the soless. But shnei aleichem on Shavuos is not from the barley, it's from wheat. So, it's better It's better quality. Aval gav demichadash asi, even though it's new, shnei isrin is also mishulash isin. So, you get 20% of the product. To remind the olam, that on Shavuos, the the the two breads are what is mattered the the the minchas of that in the Beis Hamikdash. So, it's from the new crop. Zog die Gemara, >> [clears throat] >> Lechem hapenim esrim arba isrin, mei esrim arba isin. My time, oh. Why is lechem hapenim so inferior, so to speak? You you get a third of your your total amount from your product. Not 10%, a third. Kivan demichadash asi, um mei asi also, because over here it has two things going for it. First of all, it's wheat. Second of all, it's older crop. Mufchar asi misoyim. Isrin mufchar asi misoyim. So, you get a fully isrin from a sa'ah. Trei avonim minchas ribah, demidas isrin. Oshir mi'as, demidas isrin psulos. A mincha, where you come with less flour than the Torah says. Let's say the Torah says an isrin, and you come with 90% of an isrin, 98% of an isrin, possul. Let's say instead of an isrin you put 1.1 isrin is on there, possul. You can't go one drop more, one drop less. It's an exact amount. But ribah um demidas sonchlin. But if you start off with more product, instead of starting off with three sa'im, you start off with 10 sa'im, cuz you want to get more a better produce. You want to get a better product. That's okay. You could start off the what you're starting off with, as long as when you come into the when you're makriv the omer, you come with the bowl, it's the right amount, it's exactly an isrin. We don't care what you started out with. Oshir mi'as demidas Even if you start out with less, as long as you have a pure product, you're good. Rebbi Shimon omer sonchlin, oshir mi'as demidas sonchlin, kashrus. I told you, simple sugias. Check this one out. Next Mishnah. Omer hayu menupa bishlosh esri nupa. So, there were 13 sifters. Here we go. See them all lined up over there? We're trying to sift the soless. So, you have to understand, there's kemach, soless, and subin. There's three products here that we're trying to sift. The subin is super large. The shaft. The kemach is super thin. That's the what we what we use today, the flour. It's It breaks up, and then there's the soless. It's thicker than flour, but thinner than subin. So, there's a little bit of a problem, because if you're going to sift out all the shaft and let everything else fall to the bottom, it's going to include kemach and soless. You want to get rid of the kemach on the one hand, which is the thinnest of the thin. You want to get rid of the thickest of the thick, which is the subin, and leave the middle part. So, that's that's why it's problematic. And that's why, in order to get the best of the best, we used 13 sifters. Now, what what are these 13 sifters? Shnei aleichem bishtei mesri. Shnei aleichem The the two breads of Shavuos only used 12 sifters, not 13. But lechem hapenim and the and the bread on on on Shabbos, the 12 breads, b'chadasri, only in 11. This is halacha l'Moshe miSinai. We're not going to ask questions. This is what Hakadosh Baruch Hu told Moshe Rabbeinu, 13, 12, and 11. 11, 12, 13. Rebbi Shimon omer lei hayu lan kidzva. The lechem hapenim didn't need a uh 11 sifters. It's whatever the amount came out. Ela soless menupa kol tzarco hayu. Maybe you could bring uh fine flour, or let's call it soless. You can't even buy it, purchase it in the store. As long as it's pure. Shnei amar velakach es soless. You buy it, you could take it. V'afisa oso, and you bake it. At shetiya menupa kol tzarco. Whatever it takes to get that product. You don't need to use 11 11 sifters. Turn around. How do you do this? Bedaka begasa, bedaka begasa. So, says the Gemara, you go very very thin, small small holes, large holes. Small holes, large holes. Small hole, large holes. Rebbi Shimon omer lo zoyim amar, shlosh esri nupis hoyu b'Mikdash. No. Zeh l'ma'ala min zeh, v'zeh l'ma'ala min zeh. There are 13 sifters, and they all have different size holes in the sifting. So, it goes 1 through 13. One is the smallest hole that only fine kemach could come out of. And 13 is the largest hole, only subin will fall out only The keara, the the kemach and the soless will fall out, the subin will stay on top. What do you do? Elyona koletes subin. The upper one traps the subin. Tachtona koletes [clears throat] soless. And the bottom one gets the soless. The way they explain it is, >> [clears throat and cough] >> according to Rebbi Shimon, you start with number 13, very thin, small holes. Then you go to number one, very large holes. Then you go to number 12, small holes. Number two, large holes. But it's smaller than the number one. Two is smaller. And you keep on going like that. You do Where am I? I was at 11 and three, 10 and four, nine and five, etc. Rebbi Shimon omer lei hayu lan kidzva. By the lechem hapenim, there was there wasn't an amount. You don't say you have to do it 11 times. Tana Rabbanan, soless v'afisa oso. It says by the lechem hapenim, soless v'afisa oso. Milavin she nikcha soless. You're allowed to buy ready-made sifted flour, that's soless. Uminayin shafilu chidin? How do you know that you're allowed to purchase the raw material, the wheat, and start from scratch? Tam lo amar Velakach mikol makom. It says velakach, so it's mikol makom. Only lechem hapenim you're allowed to buy the raw product. Why? Mifnei achi sachin. In order to save money. It's something that we do every single week. So, if you're going to buy the ready-made product, like uh in pomegranate and all these stores they're selling now the covered Pesach, they're selling the salt water. Now, if you do this every day, this would be problematic. Once a year, no, you want to buy salt water from the store. So, I used to make a lot of fun of it. So, what's the problem? You take water, you take salt. No. Good salt water has to be boiled. So, they save you the boiling process. And for that, you pay $1.99. Okay. Some people, for $1.99, it's worth the time because listen, you have to go to the stove. This is a 10-minute ordeal. They make more money more more than $1.99 in 10 minutes. Not such a crazy maybe. Maybe they have the perfect formula of how much salt to put in this that tastes great. I don't know. They have healthy salt. There's not healthy salt. How much could help you save lose weight? It's very very harsh. Oh. My Rebbi said, "So, what what what what's the savings exactly? I won't save my father 100 bucks because he told me that if I don't get thrown out of school for a whole week, he's going to give me 100 bucks." So, I told him, "I saved you 100 bucks." He says, "You don't have to eat fish on Shabbos and everybody should get together and they should protest this and they shouldn't buy fish." But, who who who and if you have fish already, then you permitted to eat it. Okay. There's another one with the adasim. If the adasim are too expensive, then you could uh you could use other adasim. I'll be matter of this, I'll be matter of that. Just interesting because we're talking about Pesach. So, I want to remind I don't want to push a few buttons here that the best maror, according to the Mishnah, and according to Halakha, basically, the best maror is is romaine lettuce. Why? Because it's brought number one in the Mishnah in Pesach. Not chrain. So, then is the question is why why is chrain so so popular by by Chassidim and then and Hungarians by my wife's whole family and you know, chrain, you got to you got to cry because it's maror. The reason is because in Europe, they didn't have romaine lettuce. So, it became a thing to use chrain. But, in fact, the better one is romaine lettuce. And there's a remez here. The Maggid of Ram brings a raya from this coming pasuk that when it comes to drinking, you can drink before your animals cuz it says the Torah says, "How do I see that the Torah cares about your money?" The v'hishkisa eidav v'es be'iram. First, Hakadosh Baruch Hu said, "Hit the rock. Water will come out of the rock and I'll feed you. Don't go anywhere because I have a great video to show you." You drink and then let your animals drink. But, part of me see, why does the Torah say v'es be'iram? Because the Torah cares about your animals.
