my dearest friends in the last video
update we spoke about we may be done
with Corona but Corona is not done with
us and I so badly wish that was my last
video that we could be celebrating how
our numbers are so much better and our
phases are progressing and we're
returning to normal life but
unfortunately that is not my message I
have a critically important message to
share and that's what I'd ask you to all
listen to carefully and let others
around you know the spike is happening
all around us and well for a long time
we were able to say that even though the
numbers and the data was rising around
us our community seemed to borrow Hashem
thank God be fairing well that day is
over the numbers are rising all around
us and they have penetrated within our
community hospitalizations are rising in
the community the hospitals have scaled
back no longer allowing visitors
canceling segments of elective surgery
we're hearing about dozens of positive
cases within our community and local
camps struggling with family members of
their campers who are testing positive
one of the local camps needing to close
down for now altogether and so my
message to you is this if you're not
feeling well at all in any way contact
your health care provider immediately
about getting tested and in the meantime
stay home let me be clear we have member
in the community who tested positive all
they thought they had was a headache and
it turned out they were positive with
Corona another who was positive had a
post nasal drip which is a fancy way of
saying they had a runny nose and it
turned out they had coronavirus both
possibly could have transmitted to
others several people had reasons to get
tested and it turned out they tested
positive even though they were entirely
asymptomatic they didn't feel bad at all
and yet they had it enough they could
have been transmitting it to others this
is a potentially lethal virus the
consequences are incredibly dangerous we
have to err on the side of caution if
you don't feel well in any way at all
stay home stay home and ask your health
care provider if you need to be tested
if someone in your household is positive
the whole household has to quarantine
for a minimum of 14 days according to
CDC guidelines consult your health care
provider
it means if someone in your home is
positive everyone else can't be out and
about
they can't somewhat quarantine they have
to buy
Health Department regulations quarantine
a minimum of 14 days if someone has
reason to get tested in there waiting
results the whole house has to
quarantine even if there are no symptoms
because if you go out you can be
transmitting from one to another to
another and to a vulnerable person who
may not have what it takes to survive
getting this lethal virus let's define
quarantine when we talk about someone in
your family having it when we talk about
your awaiting a test result because you
may have it when we talk about anyone
not feeling well what it means to
quarantine is home isolation it means
avoiding people it means not going out
not to the supermarket not to shul not
to meet people 20 feet apart in your
backyard let me be clear we're here to
help
if you've tested positive or you are
concerned you might be if you're not
feeling well and your whole family is
quarantining we can have food delivered
to your front door we can pitch in and
help take care of what you need we are a
community we're a family we're here to
help one another but you need to help us
by not keeping it to yourself by letting
people know let me be clear there is no
shame and there should be no stigma and
no guilt associated with having
contracted this virus there are people
who are been practicing great precaution
who nevertheless contracted it for
reasons we don't understand or know
there's no shame there's no stigma there
is no guilt
having coronavirus is not your fault but
not telling the people you've been in
contact with not behaving responsibly by
quarantining you and your family taking
quarantining seriously following the
guidelines of what it would take and how
long do you have to wait to be able to
return that is your fault
and that would be one's responsibility
and so I appeal to you I beg you as we
see these numbers spiking as we see it
having penetrated and infiltrated into
our very community please don't keep it
to yourself share with the people you've
been in touch with everyone please wear
masks in public wear masks indoors
outdoor many animal continue the
distancing continue to do what is
essential and defined for yourself what
is not so essential as we see these
numbers rise and spike and the
vulnerable among us still at incredible
risk we need to work as a community we
need to work as a family we need to be
concerned for one another
we need to follow the guidelines we need
to follow what it means to quarantine we
need to share with others if someone has
tested positive we need our entire
family to cooperate tomorrow's the first
issue of October Thomas motive Ribeira
Schechter has made clear that it's more
important to try to fast and it would be
to davon with a minyan and so the manana
that are taking place outdoors 4:00 in
the morning when it's incredibly hot and
humid if you feel it would compromise
your fast better to dive in at home than
to attend and outdoor menu which could
compromise your fast anyone is not
feeling well in any way having symptoms
or signs of illness does not need to
fast let me remind you this fast is not
punitive this fast is redemptive the
fast is repentance the fast as an
opportunity for us to remind ourselves
that we are a soul that has a body and
for 12 hours to tell that body we will
deny indulging in you because we will
emphasize our soul we will reflect on
what we've done wrong and what we've
done right and what we can do better and
one of the things we can do better is to
be better following these guidelines and
to be better community members to one
another to bring all our family on board
and cooperating please God if we do if
we learn the message in the lesson we
are transformed from the experience of
fasting and we are committed to one
another then please God we can keep our
community safe wish everyone to be
healthy holy and happy
