Connecting the Pipes Properly | Rabbi Doniel Osher Kleinman

So we moved into a new house and we made a guest room downstairs with a bathroom, and we were all excited for that first Shabbos when we were having guests. The guest comes for Shabbos and they come upstairs, all ready for Shabbos, and we say: How is it downstairs? And the guest says: I don't know. Something's wrong with the shower. There's no pressure there. No pressure? That's strange. So we go downstairs, we turn on the shower, and the pressure, the water pressure is extremely weak. And so we called a plumber and he fiddles around and he looks around and he checks here and he checks there and then finally he says: Ah! I got it. He says: One of the pipes, the connecting pipes in the shower pipes, one of them was loose and there was actually water leaking out from underneath. And the water pressure was negatively affected. The water wasn't flowing properly. He says: I made the connection. The connection is good now. Things will flow. Pele Yoetz, in the section on Sight, speaks all about the eyes and the power of ראייה, the power of sight, what it means to sanctify the כוח הראייה, the power that we have to see things. And the Pele Yoetz says something incredible, in the name of the Kabbalists, in the name of the Kabbalistic works. He says: The עיניים, the eyes, have in them the power of the שם הוי”ה, of the holy name of Hakadosh Baruch Hu י-ה-ו-ה. He says: ארץ, earth, symbolizes the אדנות of Hashem, the name א-ד-נ-י. The אדנות of Hashem means the fact that Hakadosh Baruch Hu rules the world. He says that when a person uses their eyes, connects them to the ground, when you look down, you look at the ground, you're connecting the power of הוי”ה, which is the name י-ה-ו-ה, which is the name that symbolizes the רחמים, the mercy, the compassion of Hakadosh Baruch Hu, you’re connecting that with אדנות, with the way Hakadosh Baruch Hu runs His world. Essentially, the way to connect those pipes in the best manner is by connecting your eyes to the ground. When you fit the pipes right, the Shefa flows. The Chasam Sofer writes in Drashos that the Pasuk says, Hashem blessed Avraham Avinu with everything. Avraham Avinu was the wealthiest man in the world, Chazal say. He had everything he could want. The Chasam Sofer says בכל is the Rashei Teivos, is an acronym, for ‘I have made a covenant with my eyes.’ Avraham Avinu was careful with his eyes. He didn't even stare at something that he was permitted to look at, as we know. That is where the Shefa, the blessing of Avraham Avinu came from. If you connect the pipes properly, if you make sure that the pipes fit, your eyes are focused where they're meant to be focused, you've perfectly fit the אדנות into the הויה, you’ve fit Hashem’s running of the world into the pipe of compassion, you will be blessed with incredible Shefa of בכל. You'll have everything. It takes time. Every blessing in life takes time. You don't have to call a plumber. You can do it yourself. Connect those pipes properly and the Shefa will flow.
