Comparing the @HerzogWine Clarksburg & Chalk Hill Pinot Noirs with Joseph Herzog

The Herzog Pinot Noir, a phenomenal job. Amazing. Perfect for the four cups. Wow, and we have it on sale, by the way, for under $40. It's wow. >> All right, we're going to taste two Pinot side by side, Clarksburg Pinot and then the Chalk Hill Pinot. Different structure. It's the second vintage of the This is the second vintage, correct. Okay. So, this is going to be the Clarksburg is going to be more what you know the Herzog style reserve Pinot, both non-mevushal. Cherries. Fruit, the obviously the rose petal, the strawberry, the rhubarb compote, that whole thing very floral. And then the Chalk Hill Pinot is the bigger Pinot. The Chalk Hill Pinot, the soils are different soils, completely different soils. Very different structure, different clones, and the wines are basically two different wines. The Clarksburg Pinot, what you know the Pinot to be, elegant, light, floral. Speaking about Pesach I think it's nicer than the past few years, this one. Because we we used to play with the different we used to play with the different Santa Rita Hills, Edna Valley. We used to play in the very different regions, very different sites, and you had it was always different. Now we've decided to focus in we grow a perfectly the the in the Clarksburg vineyard, very similar climate to Russian River, and it produces a great Pinot Noir. >> the nicest we've done it so far. So, we we farm this like a top Napa Valley reserve vineyard in order to produce this result. [music] So, you're getting the more what's it called? Pulled together. Pinot, it's elegant, but yet shows its colors. >> California, but it's elegant. So, that's that's the nice thing about this Pinot. I was not supposed to speak during this video, but wow. Wow. Second one is the Chalk Hill. The Chalk Hill, that's the soil is much more limestone, uh actually certain places even obsidian. >> [music] >> It's way bigger, and you get the one that's much as bigger tannic, mouthfeel. It's the big brother >> [music] >> of the reserve Pinot Noir. Also non-mevushal. Bigger wine. High in tannin. High in tannins, the barrels, all of that way different, but it's a it's the big brother. So, if you want to have a big Pinot, it's the Chalk Hill. You want an elegant Pinot, >> They're both beautiful. You did a great job this year. Perfect for Pesach, arba kosos, all of that. Yeah.
