Perhaps the biggest accomplishment this
year, as Mr. Weriga mentioned, was not a
legislative, but Governor Hawl's
intention to opt in to the federal
scholarship tax credit after the federal
government releases the rules. The
governor was not able to be this evening
in personally, but I want to thank her
publicly.
I want to mention also one of my good
colleagues who's here tonight, Rabbi
Adri Mudson, our national director of
government affairs, who is among the
leading advocates in the nation, not in
New York, nationally, worked for years
and years as part of a group of
advocates around the country in bringing
this to fruition and we're very proud
that um to be part of that team. This is
not a voucher. It won't cost New York a
single nickel. It's an opportunity to
help hundreds of thousands of kids
across the state in both public and
nonpublic schools, whether for tuition,
after school programs, remedial
assistance, and so much more. It's truly
a gamecher, and we look forward to
January 20.
