So many couples reach out looking to build on their communication skills thinking that if they have better communication skills, they'll feel more connected to their spouse. But the truth is it's the other way around. The couples who invest in feeling more connected to their spouse by getting to know their spouse, by noticing their spouse, by paying [music] deep attention to their spouse, those are the ones who have better communication. Communication is the result of connection. It's not what produces connection. Think about the times in your marriage where communication is better. Anytime communication in your marriage is better, it comes together with there being more connection. When connection is present, so is communication.
