and uh it's going to be a very difficult year with action next year if somebody had told me 10 years ago when I started that we would end up as good friends I would have said that they were great but the last 10 years you taught me a tremendous amount most important thing being a party matters during elections but when you get up here to do the people's business it's not a republican thing or a Democratic thing it's the right way to do things you've always stood for what you believ is Right you've let us know that many times you thought we were kind of heing off track a little bit I always appreciate that that you opening your mind to us you told us exactly how you think things should be done and then we work to a compromise I think that's something that if our friends in Washington can learn this country be in a lot better shape uh it's been a pleasure serving with you I'm fortunate that I'll still get to serve with you on the N way for the next few years thank you for your service to the town uh enjoy your Thursday nights off for a while and uh please don't be your Str [Applause] well first of all thank you for all the proclamations and gifts I really very touching I thinking the voice is quite beautiful find a treur spot for that um you know I may committee I'm not ding Senator and I still represent l b you will be hearing from me if you set that on line you know that you'll be getting the the uh phone call let let me just share share a few things 30 years ago when I came on the committee um uh it seems hard to believe 30 years ago um I served with with with four great people the late W Thompson late Kenny Matthews uh the late George Buck wall and John Franklin myself and it was quite an historic committee and let me share one thing to to the three of you that here in those days The Freshman was not allowed to Fu for the first three years um it was it was it was it was an interesting experience and a very good experience each one of those each one of those people uh gave me something help me to to understand and it was an important aspect um I can I can't say one thing I I cannot thank the people like it enough I've had 3 wonderful years of serving people this and uh every day is been a joy uh the people of this community the clest of all the towns I represent I've always had the closest El where I live where my kids grow up for the school it's a very special Community it's a healthful community I can tell you that anything I've been involved in whether it be the hospital whether it be working um for for synagogue or Day School El like that for the people in in this community have always been the first to come forward the volunteer the first to help out and and I can tell you icept C last week I had the mission of Blake and Children's Services because I had to show her the children and what we do as a community of he special she was amazing the volunteerism young high school girls voling time houses and unheard of we brought over to to see uh the center there and how they they work with people and and the dental services there for for underprivileged and low income underserved population respected um she was amazed um uh a month before that I had a commissioner of C Kim and how they serve the the population UND sered population IM population of our County and they were amazed at at the volunteerism um Kimble is part of the St Barn Health Care System the largest in the state and we have more obili at Kimo than any other Hospital in the system or any other Hospital JY over 1700 1700 volunteers that volunteer Kim what a wonderful thing when the retirement commun a unit at for season there a unit at at Fairways there one non e origal every Community country everyone is involved in in helping the community work in community what an amazing place you know I I I sometimes sometimes see other parts of the county and I told you is a jealousy jealousy of what have there are bumps in always look and that's part of life but think about it we have grown to be a community of maybe 100,000 people and and we still have the heart and that's a wonderful thing think you know you take a look at L you see a Catholic women's School across from the largest sh in the world living together what an amazing fact you see people work we just saw our police force honored by everyone and how the helping of of different groups of of hot sellers involved in helping police been on the street working so well with what a wonderful so I I will tell you that that though I'm I'm stepping down for committee and everything has a thought and there's a young man coming and know going to do a great job but this is a great and and you you gener have a lot people proud of here because it's been a pleasure working and I tell you that that uh my legislative office gets a tremendous amount of calls and what what wonderful people I can't tell you my my staff people come in and cakes and [Music] cookies and and and it really is I I have to tell you just it's a wonderful wonderful community and something that that the three of you here are part you know we've gone through some tough Economic Times in the state and we're not over that yet um but this committee has has tried to to to stay the course and try to make some some reasonable decisions working with with with unions working with the employees and there are work employes I've served to to the managers and through the employees what wonderful employees you have working C their attitudes are positive people are nice they F these are all important things this makes a community and and I think that that very honestly uh um you're right the thing I look forward to is I've never seen TV on Thursday night so there's no such things re uh that I'll enjoy but but but you know like everything else we we we go to all the same Affairs together we see all the same things and and I'll be Bing you all the time but just keep in mind you know watch what lak does it's the largest p in my district make sure you guys keep in mind and and I hope you're going to welcome and work with Mr Atman the way you welcome and work with me uh he's a bright young man he certainly brings a a new Viewpoint to commit it's always need you know I heard Tom L say something when he left which is very very true there's always time new breath pressure someone look at it a different way and that's good that's a positive thing for Community not so there are a lot of positive things going on uh got a young man coming on which is good with new ideas and sometimes you know you say you tried it didn't work you got to try it again from a different set of eyes and that's important um and the community is is a loving Community you guys have a lot lot of great people to work with out there and a lot of great volunteers so you have a lot to you proud of I have a lot to be proud of and again I I thank you I've been and honor to serve for three of you an honor Ser with Min you know I just have to tell you what what kind of um um um sweet man minach is I um I I knew his his uh he'd be away for H we had a little Hana party for his kids in my office and you know uh I I gave the kids gifts this and I and I made his wife promise that they go to the store buy anything they wanted it can be it can be something junky it didn't have to be something uh you know that made sense and I have to tell you the kids just had a great time called me for my wife to thank him for doing that for his family what a sweet man and and it was very fortunate happened before on a Sunday and my family was in the car together you all about to talk to him but what what a su man to do that and appreciate the fact I know that that he's looking forward to coming back and and that you know he got his promotion over there he's a major now and and he's he's very excited about coming back he the major mayor major mayor but just just wonderful and and all of us is going close together we've all been all share F together um and and that's important and that's important fact together have that relationship you know each other's family uh and that's one thing I will keep going on with I promise you'll be getting calls for lunch and dinner going through events and that and I promise that uh that I'll I'll let you read your Proclamation there and I'll read mine but really I've had a had a great great time with you guys and I certainly will miss back from writing this but I I really again want to thank the people that before like given there thank you [Applause] at this point I
