sorts of things that nobody really wants so we're going to have some levity now we're going to have some humor hopefully you never know with a comedian whether we're going to be good or not I never know I might stink but I'm gonna try and the good news is I have someone who's definitely funny always with me today you know her you love her Adriana could you introduce yourself to the people on how they might know you and your big Instagram fame yeah so my name's Adriana and I am known as non-jewish nanny so I'm basically a nanny who's not Jewish and I nanny for all Orthodox Jewish families here in Florida now wait a second I got to hear all about this how you got this gig how do you how do you how do you get into this business how do you get into the non-jewish nannying business but you're not Jewish but you have families that are mostly do you only exclusively work with Jewish families no I mean they just like book me 24 7 because they have tons of kids so they need tons of child care and I'm very active also how do I get into this line of business well I have an opera degree so we need to have a side job to make more money and um basically that's just how I started with one family and once I started with one family the word just traveled fast and now my phone blows up 24 7 to take care of kids okay so here's the thing about you that I find fascinating everyone thinks you're Jewish everyone because you have that cute adorable Jewish face and Aura it's it's more of a way about you and you're absolutely not so what let's just cover this what are you exactly so I never got the Jewish comment like ever in my entire life until this so I think it's in everyone's head like I just think it because I dress like a jasmus they say oh you dress like a Shiva girl so like see us but I am half Cuban and I'd say half American my mom is from America she's from Connecticut her last name though is La France so obviously French background but my dad is from Cuba um I was born here um we've lived here our whole lives but like so I'm half Cuban but I don't know I'm afraid to do the DNA test because it's gonna like ruin my whole career I guess no no no you have to do the 23andMe immediately because I promise you nobody says that well you have got to be an mot do you know what an mot means no [Music] I'll give you all right I'll give you I'll give you the first word member member of yeah like I'm a member tribe a member of tribe yes we call it and we call each other oh she's an mot he's an mot let me just say this you are an honorary mot I will take that title proudly I take a lot of time to learn everything and I'm around well that's the thing I love about you when you say things like I will take that title proudly it feels like you're a proud Jew and I know you're not Jewish but it feels like you're proud to be so closely associated affiliated with Jewish people so tell us more about that why are you so in love with us everybody hates us why do you like us thank you oh so everyone you guys think everybody hates you but I'm telling you all my friends like they everything I tell them like they love it and I think it's have you been on Twitter at all recently have you yeah I know I'm not friends with those people I guess but like okay good I'm not good but basically have you studied history have you are you familiar with the crusades inquisitions pogroms have you no we're definitely not the most loved which is sad because you're not a fan favorite and it's okay I don't understand but like I'm here to make you a fan favorite you're the kids are my fan favorites for sure it was always so fun when I would go nanny for the Jewish kids at first which was my first any job anyways but what made my day so funny and so fun was like oh my gosh why are they building a Hut in the backyard like why are we like why you know are you fighting about which shoe to tie first and like it's just so funny like the little rules that I would learn I was like there's really a rule about that and then I'd be like but why and where did it come from and like I think it's so interesting kids love to talk and we need nothing but stuff to talk about when I'm with them for like six hours a day so like right so so I'm very curious about that because I have to in my job poke fun at a lot of our rituals and customs and traditions and holidays but I do it out of love and I do it as an Insider really an observant Jew that's doing all of these things but I'm allowed to look at it as an outsider and have that comedic observational eye and go oh yeah we're in a hut this is nuts but I love it and I but I see how others might view it so how do you view it when you see you know maybe the dad of of one of your kids that you're helping out wrapping himself in leather in the morning do you see this as well that's weird or do you see it as oh that's a nice tradition and a custom that they do I mean so at first there were just things like my boy wore census and I was like what is the String like what are these strings that are hanging from his outfit and I was like and why is only he wearing them why is my little girl not wearing them and then I would see the dad also assist and then the dad also has like another prayer uh cloak thing to diving with and I started to notice all these things and so you know once I started realizing how like important it was in their culture and how every how official it is and how every family did it it just became like second nature and like yeah I very much respect it and of course like when I first saw it I was like what is that you know so interesting where do you buy that and now I know I know there are plenty stores like that sell all these products and stuff but like right right but and you respect it and I love that and I respect it and I do it all but again if I am putting on to Villain at an airport lounge because the flight is too early in the morning where I had to leave the house when it was still dark and then I'm there and I just feel the people staring at me and and I'm thinking oh they're recognizing me from Curb Your Enthusiasm no they're looking this guy going why is he wrapping himself in Leather so again I always am aware of what the outsider thinks and because you're an outsider Now sort of with us in the group as part of the group there is nothing that we do that makes you go okay sorry this is weird there's got to be something like when we put the an era of pesach we put the bread in our house and then we go on a search on a hunt for the bread we just put there a second ago there's got to be something that's weird to you that's not even weird because like we do that with Easter egg hunting that's true you guys are just as crazy as us hey let's put eggs in our backyard and then go looking for them a giant man breaks into our house in the middle of the night and does good things rather than takes so I mean like we are more crazy sometimes it just so happens that we are more commercialized so you know oh that's normal to be crazy like that it's so funny because it we you're so right and it's all perception it's all how you perceive what we're doing and I perceive everything that I do as beautiful and spiritual and connecting to a Heritage that's thousands of years old and I love it but I do recognize as I'm doing certain things well this is a little nuts I'm shaking a a lemon and a branch in every direction like like I won something yay so it's even as I'm doing it yeah you're there and everyone so even as I'm doing it I I'm aware and then again as a comedian I have to poke fun at these things and I like doing that but I don't make fun I poke fun and that is a distinction that I always make because again I love it all and I'm I'm knee-deeping it but it's my job to just poke fun at everything um so what are you what are you uh thinking now as uh as as sort of an honorary member of the tribe are you feeling this sense that we're all feeling right now that it in the mainstream media that we supposedly control there's nothing but rhetoric and anti-Semitism out there from comedians to basketball players to rappers are you feeling any of that heat or do at least do you feel that we're feeling it um I only really have positive feedback from all my Jewish people and I feel like very protected by you guys when I tell you that if somebody says anything the slightest bit rude in my comments they jump on them so quick and they just offend me and it's so sweet and so the fact that the majority of my followers are Jewish and they treat me so well and I don't get a lot of hate and they're so kind and accepting even if I make a mistake I think this shows a lot that like maybe the non-jewish people Haven't Found Me Maybe the anti-semitic people haven't found me yet um but the people who have found me are the Jewish people and they're really loving and supporting and I think that really just tells a lot about their religion and lifestyle well that you're so right by the way for the record you happen to be very lovable and adorable you're not you're not difficult to love so yes we do love you but also the Jews in general are an accepting and loving people you know the whole message of Judaism is the Love Thy Neighbor thing and our whole purpose is which means to heal the world so all of the the garbage that's out there about us and the rhetoric is so insane it's so the opposite of our teachings and our way of life and how we live you know the fact is you look at Israel as an example how is there so much hate on Israel when Israel is this open and accepting you know country that loves its from Jews to Jews to Christians to Muslims black white whatever you are we are a multicultural open democracy and accepting and loving of all and all we want is coexistence and then you have this insane notion that Zionism is racism I mean you must look at this and go guys you're all crazy I live with these but I know what they're really about so do you ever find yourself refuting people who are you don't even face that because you're not Jewish I I mean I've had some people make comments like oh you work for Jewish people like that must suck and I'm like why they pay very well and he's like no it doesn't way to perpetuate the money stereotype thank you but I literally had a friend of mine a comedian friend of mine say to me but you're rich and I go Rich what you know you're Jewish do you really think we're all rich I grew up in the Bronx I used to wake up with Roaches on my face my parents were teachers we're not all rich most Jews live below the poverty line yes some of us did well but that doesn't mean all of us and the whole thing about how we control anything the banks the media Hollywood is so insane because if because you know this better than most Jews can't be in agreement on anything there's no way we could control something we would just be arguing he's fighting over it there is I would love to bring these anti-semites into a shul board meeting just to see they'd be sitting there going these people can't even control how long the rabbi speaks are you kidding me these people can't agree on whether the kid is should be hot or cold we had children last week so let's have it this week I mean it's just we can't agree how we're not controlling anything because we can't agree on anything it is insane all right back to more pleasant topics I think the stereotype is that like you yeah people say oh you're rich but like you're cheap then and like I've had people say to me like oh but like you know if I worked for Jewish Family I'm sure they wouldn't pay me on time and like it makes me so mad because I'm like my families are so generous they pay me before I even get out of the driveway like so and yeah the cheap thing is another it's a cheap stereotype makes me crazy because all I do is spend more than I have you know the code for food like the fuel the clothing everything is more expensive and like they they pay for it too the child care I mean and like I'm so happy to be there for them and work hard to I guess earn my money so I even have a bit about how Jews are not cheap okay see cheap people don't spend we spend we will spend just as long as we know we're spending less right because for us yeah for us it's all about getting a good deal you got to get a good deal from the day from the day we get circumcised once you get that first 10 off you're gonna want it for the rest of your life and that's just a joke that I have but the but the reality is that the Jews being cheap thing is another stereotype that was put on us that is completely not true I mean most of my Jewish friends are not cheap of course I have a couple of cheap Jewish friends but I have a couple of cheap Jewish not not non-jewish you know cheap exactly right anyway exactly so the point is these stereotypes are they're all just stereotypes so I wanted to ask you um what is as an honorary Jew what is your favorite Jewish holiday so probably suit codes circus I say circus because like all my kids are like yeshivish so like I say circus I say Chavez so because for me is kind of like do you understand when you say when you say shookus and Shabbos you I I can't believe you're not Jewish I I so I don't know if you know this about me but like I'm I was a diction teacher in grad school so for Opera we take German French and Italian diction and language I sing in all those languages which is how I am very good at doing a sound and Hanukkah you have it and we do all that we do all those sounds sneas that's a very Italian how are you right I guess I don't know myself too so my family my dad's family is actually really from Spain so maybe that's why he does not have but like like in in grad school we are drilled like viciously on our it needs to be correct like especially for Opera and so um I get like complimented on that and in my German singing and so I feel like that's how it transfers over so easily I've done nothing but imitate languages my whole life so so how much about our culture and traditions do you know like for example so I used to play this game called Jewish or Jew e if you're Jew if you're Jewish then you don't really know a lot if you're Dewey oh my God you're so dewy you know everything so here we go Jewish or Dewey this will determine do you know the difference between a minion and a musuman well do you know what a minion is well I think it has something to do with like feminine and masculine things no no no a minion when when you when you go to when you go to adopt and you need a quorum of 10 men okay and when you bench you need only three I knew about benching being less than actually dominating at the school but even you know that you're not Jewish you're Dewey you're a big Jew why would I know like what have when was the last time someone needed a nanny to go like with their husband to shul you know like that's so funny by the way I I was at a Brisk yesterday I don't want to brag but that's how busy and exciting my life is later this month as well well you stopped showing off um so I met this bris and it's this lavish beautiful bris and there's like 200 people there and someone gets on the microphone and said um how many men here ate bread and I'm like what a weird question that right no they said raise your hand if you've eaten bread and then people right right and then they're like no wait a second raise your hand if you're a man and you've eaten bread because they were just looking for ten so that they could bench fully with the whole thing and not just the bism I'm like this is the only place on Earth at like a bris where someone gets on a mic and says raise your hand if you're a man and you've eaten bread where else would you hear that that question now yeah I know it's like like that's like the stuff that I like love to teach to other people and explain to it like even when I'm talking to my mom my friends my roommates like and explain and then it's like there's an explanation there's always an answer to your question and like that's what I really like about Judaism and it never ceases to stop I feel like the questioning and the answers I'm constantly learning uh I just learned about the difference of cheese too like somebody made me a pizza they said oh it's also like call Israel or something call Israel right follow-up Israel yeah yeah call Israel so I was like I was like oh okay new thing now I know it's like are you learning every day different like laws and rituals and stuff um I mean I'm always like doing stuff with Judaism and like the Jewish moms or the Jewish kids it just comes up you know like when you're with when you're taking care of these kids and it's so much in their lifestyle like that's why I had to say like oh you know why are you fighting over tying your shoes like oh why are you dipping your hands in this like washing thing oh why are you like mumbling to yourself like you know it's like I was always so curious and yeah like even when this when the when the sukkah came in the mail they they got the materials to build the Suka I was like I originally thought it was like a play Hut for them to play the kids to play in the backyard they're like oh no the kids explained to me and I was like oh well that sounds like a fun holiday it is fun and all we do is just eat and have fun and drink and smoke cigars outside there it's so fun so okay one more Jewish or Dewey do you know what a Mitzvah is yes I love telling my kids that was such a good Mitzvah I write the Mitzvah notes and I'd also love to tell them hey uh that is not gonna make us I'm happy that's a biggie Vera wow no Mitzvahs and averas okay one more Jewish and Julie how many Mitzvahs are there well there's 631 laws oh my God you were so close you just you just dyslexia it a little bit it's 613. 613 mitzvahs but I know for me there's seven technically Miss buzzers Samoa laws right that's right you know there are the seven right yeah but for us we have 613 you were so close you said 631. maybe I am a little dyslexic but we should make it 6 14 it just means go to bed on time for your non-deuce babysitter that's a Mitzvah so I tell them well now so the question is you're sort of you you you're sort of in love with Judaism in a way you fell in love with these these kids these these Jewish religious kids and then through that you sort of have a affinity for Judaism yeah ever ever consider hey should I convert or have you ever thought about that because we don't Prosper proselytize we would tell you right now we don't want you but we would love to have you if you're willing to you know we treat the convert better than each other that's like one of the law one of the Mitzvahs you've got to treat the convert so would you ever consider converting um right now honestly what like this whole social media thing has taught me is that my my voice is heard louder as a non-jew rather than being Jewish and I'm really excited and happy to like be a part of that um I find that like I can observe and like feel connected to your culture and religion without even coming to converse I don't want to convert I like how I am in my life right now where like I think that I take like we work together in a way like we have like I still view us the same with the same mindsets and same beliefs it's just like I'm a little bit different but I feel like I'm still doing Mitzvahs on my end as a non-jew you're so right stay you you be you you're the best and look at that gorgeous smile is your dentist Jewish his last name was Ehrlich was what happened to him I don't know he couldn't be that dead by now he's old I don't know but uh erlich and salafudi in uh in Sarasota Florida that's where that's where I got my braces done Ehrlich is a Jewish dentist yes well he did a fabulous job you have a stunning set of teeth there thank you on your teeth before yeah like all the time which do people think they're veneers and I'm like no they're just like I just have braces and like actually when I got my braces off the they like took photos of my teeth before they're like for their office oh yeah those are some gorgeous teeth good for you and the Jewish dentist who gave you braces you see the Jews were just yeah it's another joke that I have you know there was the horrible uh White supremacists who were marching with the tiki torches yelling the Jews will not replace us and I have a joke which is you know Jews will replace we're not looking to replace you we don't want to replace you we just want to put braces on you you know what I mean we just want to manage your portfolio if we replace you how are we going to invoice you okay we don't want to replace you we want to place you in a 30-year fixed low interest mortgage fees and rates may apply we want to place you in one of our fine assisted living facilities we don't want to replace you you idiots but anyway one of the first things I say in that bit is is we just want to put braces on you so many Jews or dentists and look at a good job they did for you they've been saying humble persons unbelievable okay so you're not going to convert we like that we like be you staying you because we need you on the other side fighting for us you know what I mean we have enough of us fighting for us we don't have enough of you guys fighting for us and we really need that you know we need we need so much more black and Jewish solidarity we need we need everybody's help because it's it's getting ugly out there what is the best thing about your job now that you're an influencer anyways like I hate being even called that I'm like I feel like it's not true because I'm just like everything that I post online is like this conversations I would have in my house with my roommates or my mom like it's just exactly what I actually live day in day out but the best part about my job and I always reiterate it is like I could be in like the worst place in life like so depressed in such a bad mood having such a horrible day and kids force you to just stop and because kids like are a full-time job like they just force you to stop and thinking about anything that you had going on in your personal life or anything that you're worrying about 20 minutes ago and you just like are enjoying the moment and taking care of them and before you know it you're like oh I didn't even realize I didn't think about this like remember I was sitting in a field like dealing with the most horrible horrible like legal issues and personal things in my life like it was a really hard time in my life and this is like a very big turning point in my life and I sat like to come to Judaism and love it and I sat there thinking like these kids are just so so pure and these mothers are just so kind and like accepting and like willing to just like just talk about wholesomeness in general like genuine things like it just took me out of a world that I was like I am not happy here anymore and it was really like an escape and it's very Whimsical to think about how much children can just like transport you to like wow all that matters right now is that we're looking at the butterflies in the park like yes absolutely by the way wait till you have your own children I have four children and everything you just said they do to me so you're right Hashem by you as we say do you go on trips with the families that you nanny with yeah I mean I do a lot of the times when the parents go on the trips and I stay with them um one of my family's desperately wanted me to go to Israel with them but like it just didn't work out because it was like so short notice but um I do a lot of traveling essentially like I can't leave Opera because I'm in contract right now and in season but like this summer I'm definitely planning I'm sure I'll go away with people I'm going on I've never been oh you have you you've never been on a pace off program no my first one I'm going to grease this like piss off and I was kind of pesach but like I think it's piss off and uh I don't know but I'm really excited and like I'm gonna be doing a whole series learning about it more in depth and I'm going snea's outfits like everything like I'm gonna observe jump to days like it can be so fun I think people are gonna love there is nothing like a good pesop program and by the way whatever you do it's now what is it December stop eating now because you will just eat 24 7 at this pesos program I stop eating around December January and then all you do I mean you're talking midnight barbecue they're grilling at three in the morning at these programs it is just an eating Fest so who the hate the Jews like who could hate a group of people that can provide that right exactly well maybe because they hurt maybe because they heard about all of our fast days where we're not allowed to eat but anyway that's why I hate the juice why do we need all these fast days give me a break I want to eat so and so Israel you've never been no I feel like okay you must go you must go to Israel it's my happy place Jerusalem Tel Aviv these are the most beautiful incredible magical places on Earth where it's a cross between old and new you know it's the ancient civilization and the and stones that are thousands of years old and Relics and then all the modern Technologies and the most you know Innovative the tallest buildings you know are there the Israeli Towers and and and all of the great Israeli Innovation and and when you see that it's it just Wows you to go from old to new modern to ancient and the people are amazing and you feel the the Holiness of it well except when you're in Tel Aviv then you're just sort of partying and drunk but but Jerusalem especially it's it's so magical and so spiritual that most people that I get off the plane and they just start sobbing if not when you get to the hotel are you familiar with the kotel my five-year-old taught me all about the kotel and were you Daven special words and Hashem loves those words she says wow and when you get there and you go on the women's side and you write a little note if you want and you may write a prayer and put in the wall and it'll be great well we're looking forward to uh hosting you in Israel thank you so much for being here and thank thank you
