Mr. Yitzchak Mirilashvili - Choosing Responsibility for Others - Colel Chabad Intl. Awards Gala 2025

There's a vivid memory that is um that is in my mind where it was a Friday and my grandfather's assistant came to him and he told him that finished giving out the the intended to give before before Passover. He was a list of around 40 people, 40 rabbis that lived uh that were close to him through the years. And he made sure that before every he would uh distribute a certain amount of money to these people. And my grandfather told him something that u was very powerful. He said, "Now you can rest and so can I." And uh a few hours after that, he [music] actually passed away unfortunately. But that was the last words that he he mentioned. And uh we all realized that this they summarized his mission in life. He felt responsible for the surroundings, felt that other people's problems were were [music] his problems, especially Jewish people. And that was something he was brought up with in his community in Georgia. And uh that's that sense of responsibility for the the surroundings is is uh something that is clearly very Jewish feeling because [music] we're doing something that's clearly a mitzvah, but we're also continuing the the the chain of generations of of accepting the responsibility and acting on it. The amazing thing about Kabad is that they're combining two things that are they're very hard to combine that's very unique and I ascribe that to them having a special blessing from Admor Zaken [music] and uh and of course Rabbi Dma being picked by the Reb. They're able to do things on a scale that's unprecedented without uh losing the the care and attention to a single person. So while every Jew is important, like he's the only one, they're still able to help tens of thousands of Jews. And that is really something that our foundation has not seen many examples of, he's truly something that's uh that's uh extraordinary. Person is not just a statistic. So while you can be helping hundreds and thousands of people, each one is a is a unique uh soul, a unique nisha. And uh and the the kabat does that in a special way. is is a project that is is is really tremendous and uh the fact that the Israeli government is uh is a big supporter of this even in the time of of of war is is a great testament to how important and indispensable [music] this is because it helps people the real needs in a real way that impacts their everyday life. Our foundation has checked this uh this project many times as as we've done other projects of Kabad and and and [music] uh each one of them they really are uh you know they have stellar uh results in terms of um getting to the right people at the right time in the way that is has the most impact. So it's really a tremendous project.
