Chutzpah Revealed This Story

When the Brisker Rav came to Eretz Yisrael, he was considered the Godol HaDor. Reb Isser Zalman Meltzer, another Godol HaDor, came to visit him. And people noticed that he wouldn't go in to see the Brisker Rav. They said, "What's going on?" He said, "I'm waiting for everybody to leave." So, they "Oh, you're waiting for everybody to leave?" So, they kicked everybody out, and he went in. But they said, "Nobody can go in." He said, "I don't want anybody to come in." There's one bochur mechutzaf who snuck in and hid like under the table or something. And the bochur says, >> [music] >> "What happened? Reb Isser Zalman Meltzer, shalom aleichem, the Rav, whatever." He says, "I brought you a sandwich. I figured that you're probably hungry. You just came from chutz la'aretz. You see all [music] these people for a long time. I brought you a sandwich." He says, "The the olives, it's an olive sandwich, and the olives I took trummus and aish. Just don't worry. I took it to highest level. Here's something to eat." I thought it was a great story. Cuz he's thinking about somebody else. Thinking what How's that person feeling? Right now, he's starving. But he's, you know, he's seeing people. He's going to say, "I'm starving." He's not. I brought you a sandwich. And then I said, "Oh, without the mechutzaf, we wouldn't have the story. Sometimes it's good to be a mechutzaf." Yeah, yeah, you know.
