Vayechi - 2nd Portion

Join me as we learn for today the kish for Monday parases which is chapter 48 verse 10. Yesterday we learned as Yakov lives his last year is in the land of Egypt. He calls his son Yoseph and makes him promise that he's going to bury him in the land of Israel as well in the cave of the patriarchs. Well, as Yseph hears that his father is not well, bringing his children to be blessed by his father Yakov. Verse 10. He was not able to see love. So Yoseph therefore positioned his children near his father and he kissed them and he hugged them. Verse 11. And says to Yoseph, I dared not even to hope to see your face. And God made that I should be able to see your children as well. So Rashi explains what does the word filult mean? And he says as follows. I never thought that I was going to see you again. The word fulti comes from the word thought. I've never dared to think that that would be the case. And he brings a case where we see in Isaiah the same terminology. Bring advice and therefore think about what to do. Verse number 12. Yseph withdrew them from with between his knees between his father's knees [snorts] and he and he bowed himself to and he b and he bowed to the ground. What does it mean that he withdrew them from his father? What was going on here after Jacob kissed them and hugged them? So Yoseph took him from without it from in between his father's knees. He drew them back. So like this he can settle them in the places that they should be able to get a blessing. And he set them up. One would be for the right and one would be to the left. This way can place his hands upon them and bless them when saved them went backwards from his father. Then from his father then he bowed down to his father and asking his father to bless his sons. Verse 13 and Yseph took both of his sons from the right which was to the left of Yakov and Asha was to the left of Yoseph. However was to the right of Yakov and he approached Yakov. Verse 13, what is the Torah telling us over here? How did he situate them? So imagine if one person's facing another. So your right is the other person's left. That person's left is your right. As Rashi explains, somebody that comes to greet his friend comes out. Your right is for the left of the other one. And therefore, because the older one, therefore, he put him on the right that he should be situated to receive the blessing first from Yakov rest and which is referring to Yakov sent his right hand and he placed it on Ara's head. Even though that Aphr was the younger one and his left hand and the head of though Manasha was the older one he crossed his hands deliberately though even though he knew well that Manasha was the firstborn what's going on over here what is the word like these translates explicit knowledge that knew exactly what it was doing by moving his hands this way. He did it purposely so he well known is the older one and still all he did not pay attention to that. And now he continues to say verse 15. And he blessed and he said, "My God before whom my fathers have gone with me, the God who was my shepherd from then from my earliest of days until today." Verse 16. the angel who delivered me from all raw harm. May he bless these lads and they may they bear my name in the name of my fathers and may they propagate like fish among the earth. What is he referring to the angel? What angel? this angel that God would always send with me whenever I was in uh whenever I was in distress and he needed to save me like it said previously in the when I was in love's home the Torah uses a terminology and an angel told me in the dream of Jacob and he tells I am the one also so too when he put up a monument I am the god of basel so too In all those places where an angel came to protect them, this same angel shall protect you the children should bless these lads. Who are the lads? Rashi tells us as they are being blessed because of Yoseph and the children are blessed as well. The word they should be blessed that they're like fish just like fish that continue to propagate and no evil eye can have control or hurt them. This concludes the second tow reading for
