Join as we learn together for Tuesday
parishes for chapter 6 verse 29.
Yesterday's Torah reading the Torah told
us who Mosha and Aaron are and how they
where they come from, who their family
is, and how they were appointed to be
the messengers of God to take the Jewish
people out of Egypt. Verse 29.
And God spoke to Moses saying I am God
speak to Pharaoh the king of Egypt
everything that I will speak to you.
Verse 29.
This is the same statement as we
mentioned before in verse 11.
Come speak to Pharaoh the king of Egypt
because he interrupted by telling us who
they were telling us about their family.
The Torah reviews it again to tell us
where we're up to.
I am God.
I am God. What does it mean? I am. You
can trust me.
I am worthy enough. You can trust on me.
You can depend on me. That I am the one
that sent you following my commands and
that it will all work out. Verse 30.
Over here Moshe replies to God before
I have
observe I have made over here he says I
am a man of blocked lips
and how is Pharaoh ever going to listen
to me verse 30
this is not that Moshe said it again but
the Torah is reviewing what would
happened previously that Moshe responded
to God that the Jewish people
they're not going to listen to
the Torah reviews it here again
because it was interrupted.
This is what you will find again
like when a person speaks and says okay
let's review what we just said before
because we were interrupted. So let's
recap what happened and this is what the
Torah is doing as well. Chapter 7 verse
one. And God says to Moshe,
"Observe, I have made a master for you
over Pharaoh."
However, Aaron, your brother shall be
your spokesman.
You are a master over Pharaoh.
You will have the ability to give him
punishments which is plagues and make
him and make him suffer.
Will be like your prophet.
He's going to be your translator
when you use the terminology prophecy or
speaking
is a man who announces and tells the
people words of rebuke and comes from
the word
from the lips uttering
say words
in
predigger and in old French it's called
pger preacher it comes from the same
word preacher if you take the dal gimmel
preacher. That's what a is that he will
be called a preacher and therefore he
calls him over here preacher tell
somebody who rebukes
verse two
you will speak everything that has to be
told
and Aaron your brother will then will
say it to Pharaoh will repeat it to
Pharaoh
only then will he let the Jewish people
go from his land the explains
You're going to say once everything that
I send you to do in a short language
and your brother will interpret it.
We'll make it sound nice and articulate
it.
Make it sound good in the ears of
Pharaoh.
The Reb explains why over here do we
need that Moshe and Aaron should speak.
If Aaron was the one that's going to say
it to Pharaoh anyway, why does God have
to tell it to Moshe? Let him say it to
Aaron and Aaron will say it directly.
Why does Moshe have to say it to Mosh?
Not only that, why does Moshe have to
say it to Pharaoh and Pharaoh not
understand? And only afterwards Aaron
make it sound nice or why does Moshe
have to make it sound strict as God says
he will be a master to give you
punishments and then Aaron will make it
sound nice. Now here the Reb is telling
us that there's two modes for us to
combat the evil. There's the Moshe mode
and there's the arrow mode. And one has
to remember that there always has to
have motion in the background. Meaning
Moshe has to say it as it is the
severity to be able to give the
punishments to show the authority the
authority that God has. However, at the
same time, the Torah is a way of
pleasantry. The Torah is a way of making
things sound nice. And that's what
Aaron's job was to make it appealing to
Pharaoh as well. And that is the duality
to combat the evil of the time. Number
one, to always remember that the
authority we have over evil, but at the
same time look to transform it, not only
to subdue it.
Verse three,
and nonetheless, I will make Pharaoh's
heart abstinent.
And therefore, I will increase my
miraculous signs
and the marvels, the land of Egypt.
Verse three,
now that Pharaoh will be considered
evil. disconnect will tell him the words
because pharaoh is going to say who are
you that I should listen to God
it's revealed by everybody that he
there's no interest in listening but
that they don't have any interest in
repenting on what they've done
but now it's time for me that I can make
it in a way that I will make him hard
meaning that I will make that he
shouldn't want to listen and he will
become obstinate about it
said I can make my miracle
And the Jewish people will come to
recognize my strength.
This is also we find the attitude and
the behavior of God that maybe that he
punishes the nations of the world
that this way the Jewish people should
learn and repent to God. As it says
God says I have destroyed the nations. I
have destroyed the people and this way
the Jewish people can learn lesson from
it.
Still in all you'll notice something
unique as we continue into the plagues
by the first five plagues.
It doesn't say that God made his heart
abstinent
but the heart that Pharaoh himself
became obstinate and did not want to
allow the Jewish people. He himself his
heart was hardened and didn't let the
Jewish people. And only after Pharaoh
became hardened and did not want to let
the Jewish people, then the last five
plagues, God says, "You made the choice
and now I'm going to take away your
freedom of choice." As we'll get to it
when we learn those plagues,
verse four,
Pharaoh is not going to listen to you.
And then I will put my hand upon Egypt
and I will bring forth my hosts as my
nation, my people, the Jewish people
from the land of Egypt
with great with great uh wonders, with
great judgment against Egypt.
What does it mean? My hand
literally my hand. What is my hand going
to do? To hit them, to punish them. As
God says, as we say in the uh on
Passover, not through a saraph, not
through an angel, with God himself that
smited the Jewish people, the Egyptians
verse 5, and Egypt will know that I am
God.
When I will raise my hand over Egypt,
and I will take the Jewish people out of
their midst.
Verse six.
and did
as God commanded them.
So they did. They followed exactly what
God told them to do. Verse seven,
Moshe at the time was about 10 months
short of 80 years old.
And was 83 years old
par when they spoke to parro. This
concludes the third Torah reading of
