Join me as we learn Humash for Tuesday.
Parshat V'Zot Ha Brachah, which is the
third Torah reading, chapter 33, verse
13. Yesterday we learned about the
blessings that were given to Levi and
Binyamin. As we mentioned yesterday,
Levi, which they were doing the the
service in the Holy Temple, next to it
is Binyamin that the Holy Temple was
going to be in his parcel of land. And
today we learn about Yosef because the
Tabernacle was also in the parcel of the
land of Yosef, which was from Ephraim in
the area of Shiloh.
Verse 13.
And to the tribe of Yosef he said,
God, may may his land be blessed by God.
May be blessed with delicacies by the
heaven and by the dew, with the water
that lies deep the deep that lies below.
Which because it lies deep below, it
makes it more the soil very wet.
As we'll soon see, Moshe is going to be
giving Yosef 10 distinct blessings. We
mentioned two of them so far, the
delicacies and the heaven with the dew,
by dew. Let's see Rashi.
His land is going to be more blessed
than anyone else's.
He says this specifically
by Yosef,
>> [clears throat]
>> even though the entire land of Israel
was blessed, but
it wasn't
because it wasn't as good as all the
other parcels as Yosef's.
And therefore he tells them as follows,
what's so special?
Delicacies, sweets.
And from the underground, from the
from the deep soil below, should the oil
that the water comes up from the bottom
and makes the entire ground moist, so
therefore the produce is always wet.
Rashi notes over here as well that you
will see that many of the blessings that
Moshe gives are very similar to the
blessings that Jacob gives as well.
Verse 14.
With the delicacies that are produced
from the sun and with the delicacies
that are ripened by the moon. That's
three and four.
Because his land was not blocked in
front of by mountains. It was open, so
therefore the sun was shining in it
constantly. And the sun
makes the fruit sweet.
There are certain fruits that become
ripened because of the moon. The
these are those cucumbers
and pumpkins and squash.
Another explanation of what it means
The word garnish comes to mean that it
it causes it to come out. Meaning that
because of every month it causes it to
come out more produce and more produce.
Meaning the amount of produce that would
be growing from it because it's such a
moist land that would continuously grow
every month more and more stuff would
come out.
Verse 15.
With the first fruits ripening on the
mountains early.
With
the delicacies of the hills coming every
rainfall.
Even during rainfall.
Rashi 15.
Blessed that the first one of his fruits
become ripened because
because on its mountains they were
higher up, so therefore their fruits
would come out before all the other
mountains and all the other lands.
Telling us that when God created the
universe the mountains that were in
Joseph's domain and parcel were created
before the others. Give me asylum.
This is valleys that continuously
produce
produce and they don't stop because of
the lack of rain.
Where as we mentioned there are 10 of
them so we're now we're up to numbers
seven
and eight.
Verse 16.
With the delicacies that are produced by
the land of its fullness.
And
with the favor with the favor of God who
dwells in a thorn bush.
Rest upon may may there may the
blessings rest upon Joseph's head.
And upon the crown of the one who has
separated from his brothers.
Let's see Rashi.
Like resting in a thorn bush.
Meaning that may the land of Joseph be
blessed with the will and desire and the
ease
of the presence of God.
The God the almighty God who has
revealed to me at first in a thorn bush.
The desire
the pleasantness and appease and
appeasement. The king called Rashi
anytime we find the word Rashi comes
from the word appeasing pleasure.
May this blessing come to Joseph.
What does it mean that Joseph
was separated from his brothers
when he was sold to down to Egypt.
Verse 17.
The higher surely other light, glory has
been given to Yeshua eventually with
this refers to his preeminent
descendant, his ox.
The carnate him carnif.
May his horns be the horns
of an aurochs, type of ox.
But him I mean I get you after this.
With those horns he will gore at once at
to the end of the earth.
After the others in I get you after the
others to the end of the earth. The
hammer of the visit frame, which this is
the thousands of a frame him off him and
ash and the thousands that will be that
will be slain by a descendant of
Manasseh.
Rashi will explain what all this refers
to.
Verse 17.
The higher surely yes the higher there's
a firstborn.
But not a firstborn to his to his
brothers. So it's who washing the dollar
mouth was but he's great and higher
and superior than others. She never as
it says after he be here at me I will
also make him a firstborn.
The same many because he's also to the
Jewish people are called the firstborn.
I am a lucky at some a minute because
the king that comes from him, the
successor of Mosha who Yeshua she kosher
cashier become a lucky and this is
referring to Yeshua was strong as an ox
that he will be able to conquer the
kings at once.
Hotter light, it's beautiful. Nothing
like given to him she never even sat on
my head to phone a love that you give
him your beauty on him.
The carnate him carnif.
Sure kosher been kind of nice. An ox is
strong but doesn't have beautiful horns.
However I would aim the other animal
which we refer to our aurochs. It's
animal it's it's a horns are beautiful
but they ain't kosher but it's not
strong enough. Therefore, not so Yeshua
therefore he gave him the strength of an
axe and the horns of her aim.
What does it mean the edge of the land?
Or the edge of the earth. These
are the 31 kings that Yeshua wiped them
all out at once.
You
think that all of these kings were in
the land of Israel.
What is it telling us? That they were
every king from all over the area. They
all owned palaces in the land of Israel.
And therefore even though these kings
did not officially live in Israel, but
they were from all over the universe.
And they came and they had kings and
they used to live there.
Because it was important for everybody
to have some type of
like ambassadors, like embassies there.
To say that
says in Jeremiah that God gave us a land
that all nations of the world wanted.
And therefore it says that Yeshua to
wipe out 31 kings. Who were these 31
kings? This was all the people that had
embassies, mansions in the land of
Israel.
We're talking about the thousands that
Ephraim would wipe out.
Those are the thousands that Yeshua
wiped out when he came who Yeshua came
from the tribe of Ephraim. The thousands
of Manasseh wiped out.
Those are the thousands that Gideon
killed in the war of Midian.
The amount of people that he killed at
the time were 120,000
Midianite soldiers that Gideon wiped
out.
This concludes the third Torah reading
of Parshat V'Zot HaBrachah.
