Tzav - 5th Portion

Join as we learn the kish for Thursday parasav the fifth tow reading chapter 8 verse14. Yesterday we began the installation procedures that Moshe introduced Aaron and his sons to in preparing them for the service in the holy temple. Today we continue with those events. Verse 14. And then he brought the sin offering bullish and Aaron and his sons pleaded their hands on the head of the sin offering. Verse 15 and he slaughtered it then took the blood and he then went up unto the mount unto the ram and he put it on the protrusions that were coming out of the altar all encircled it with his finger. He walked around it and then he uh purified the altar and the rest of the blood he poured at the base of the altar. He then sanctified it which now the altar can be used as an instrument upon which it can affect atonement. What does it mean that he the word the word usually comes from the word which means a sin. So therefore Rashi says in this case it means to purify he cleaned it and purified it. Going from a strange and nonholy to making it something which is holy and he sanctified it by doing this work it became holy. What does it mean to atone for it? May from now this can now be used asap for all the future things that will be atoned because of it. Verse 16 and he took all the fat that was on the inards the diaphragm along with the part of the liver and the two kidneys and their fats burned them up on the altar. What does it mean the aseras the fat that was on the the diaphragm along with the part of the liver? So he explains besides the liver itself meaning that because there was a diaphragm a little bit of attached to it. So therefore it's calledetis as we mentioned previously the diaphragm that was on it but he took a little bit of the liver as well with it that was uh that was also brought up on the altar. Uh verse 17, the sapor and and the cow. And the bull and its hide and its flesh and its waste. She burnt in a fire outside the camp. God commanded Moshe. Verse 18. Then he continued to bring forth the scent offering, the ram of the scent offering. and iron and the sons lean their hands on the head of the ram. Verse 19. And he slaughtered it and he sprinkled in the blood around the altar encircling the altar. Verse 20. Then he took the ram and cut it into different pieces. And then Moshe then burnt up the head, the pieces and the fat of this uh of this animal of the ram as well. verse 21. However, the beforeh going up the altar, he then washed the and he washed the inards and the legs in water and then he went up on the mount. He went up on the altar and he brought the entire ram on the altar because it's an ascent offering as pleasing to God is a burnt offering to God. Mosha like God commanded Moshe.
