Flappers is an amazing organization.
Personally, I had surgery back in April
and I came home and the first night was
unbearable. I could not sleep at all. I
made one phone call. Within 1 hour, a
recliner was at my door with two amazing
guys that carried it straight to my
room, set it up, and made it feasible
for me to be able to sleep.
When the guys delivered the chair, they
were amazing. All they did was bring it
into the house, asked me exactly where I
wanted to put it, moved furniture around
for me, made everything so comfortable
with a smile. It was an amazing service
that I was just blown away. What's
amazing about Flapbush is how it began.
Just 5 years ago uh co time Flapbush
took the initiative bought 300 oxygen
concentrators that were set up in
people's homes with proper
prescriptions. They were taken care of
in their own home and from there it
morphed into an amazing gumach where
every single item that you would need in
your home to take care of your loved one
can be delivered to your doorstep. As a
hot salam member we have 75 calls a day
in Flapbush. They are lost. When they
come home, they are in pain and they
don't know where to turn. With one phone
call, they can call a Flatbush and
anything they need medically oriented
for their home to make them comfortable
in their house will be delivered to
their doorstep. The medical inventory
that they carry in their warehouse is
amazing. everything you need for your
home. Whether it's a wheelchair, a
walker, whether it's a cane, bar is for
your bed so you can not fall out. Bar in
the shower, whether it's a shower chair,
anything. They will speak to you, ask
you what your needs are, and deliver
everything to you within the hour. We
currently have over a million dollars in
inventory. We just passed 8,000
deliveries in in a little over 3 years.
When I look at the community and
everyone here tonight, I see people who
have not doubled down, who have tripled
down on Flapush between the schools, the
shs, the homes, everyone is here to
stay. Flapush has quadrupled down. We
are here to stay. We are here for the
community. We are here for anything this
community needs to make life easier for
them, we are going to do. If there's
something we don't have, we will get it.
If we get two calls about something we
don't have, the third call we will have
it already. I remember one specific
story. When my dad was not well before
Flowbush was around, I needed to get a
hospital bed from Burough Park. I had to
get an air mattress from Williamsburg. I
had to get other items from Crown
Heights. Everything came from all over
Brooklyn. I had no idea where to return
it all to. Today, we make one phone call
and everything is delivered to your
doorstep. Everything is housed in a new
facility that we moved in in May. It's
Avenue I and Coney Island Avenue.
central location with the parking in the
back so our members could just pull in
uh park their vehicles, load up and head
out. Aside for the medical equipment, we
do have a full team of nurses, nurse
practitioners and PAs that by case by
case basis will visit the home and make
sure people are set up properly. In
many, many cases, unfortunately, people
are sent home where the hospital cannot
do anything for them. Instead of them
suffering or dealing with their illness
outside of the home, we will make sure
that they're in the comfort of their
home and we will send the nurse twice a
day, morning, evening, just to make sure
everything is okay. Our phone number is
24/7. Anyone who needs our service, one
phone call, no questions asked, we will
come to the house with care. We've been
in many homes where there wasn't much to
smile about, but we do bring a smile to
their face, and that's what we're all
about. We're all about just making life
easier on the family as well as the
patient. Flapish is run by Wild Yehuda X
team. Two amazing people that took this
initiative and took it to a whole new
level. They are Flappish members. Their
dedication to our entire community goes
beyond anything that anyone can think
of. And we are so indebted to them for
everything they do cuz they really do
help take care of our families at home
where people belong. The feedback that
we get is worth this entire
organization. People call back literally
crying that there's an organization out
there that cares for their loved ones
and cares for them and made life easy.
The letters that we get when people see
our jackets and they stop us and they
say, "Oh, my family member used you.
We've been funding this by ourselves,
piecing it together in the community, um
we don't charge anyone for this
service." So, we're basically reaching
out to the community and saying, "We
have set this up. We have done all the
ground work, all the leg work. We've
proven ourselves. We just need that
financial burden taken off of our
shoulders. We need that help from all of
you. It's events like this tonight that
we rely on to continue to build the
organization uh and and make life easier
on everyone here.
