Tuesday night program with special
guests tonight we are with us Rabbi
mayor Friedman Street
great to see you welcome to the kazak
headquarters and uh we're really excited
to be speaking about the gift of Shabbat
or shout outs and uh but before we do
the topic if we could get a little bit
back in about the rabbi and the great
work you're involved with and the
Shabbos the shop is Yeshiva that the
rabbi is involved with as well yes so
I'm I'm a member of the caller of Dover
Feinstein
um
Feinstein and mtj yeah mtj and in that
capacity
um I was offered to give a share in a
college campus uh in Manhattan and as
many years ago and I gave a share over
there and then after that I started
giving Sherman other college campuses so
I was going both in the cola and of
David encouraged me to to go into give
you know every time a different share
would come up I would ask him should I
go out to give the share because I'm
going to call and said you know that's
what you're in the cold that's what
you're for you're here go go Teach as
well so that I was doing that for a
little while my father-in-law was right
Rabbi London
and I've been London and and my mother's
in London they would go to NYU to help
dominion and NYU and also they would go
to Brooklyn College to help Dominion in
Brooklyn College and they would learn
with students at night
let's say NYU had a chakra London would
go at night he would learn with students
then also he would also talk to students
in the kosher cafeteria to come in the
morning to help the minions she would go
at night then he would help the minion
in the morning
and he also would go with Brooklyn
College helping the they had a mental
minion back then and I was also teaching
at various colleges at that time so
Robin London had an idea and he said you
know what Shabbos you know say the
Shabbos was given you know for Learning
and we have enough the guys during the
week are busy the boys and the girls
during the week are busy in college
or Shabbat they're available so let's
use the Shabbat as an opportunity for
them to come to grow and so he went
ahead and he created a situation he took
he took his house and he made rooms in
his house
he made it in a way that they could
accommodate boys one shot that's a month
of boys one childish a month of girls
and this is in Brooklyn this is in
Brooklyn and uh
more Hashem people were very excited
about it because we yes you have to
learn during the week also I mean
obviously going to the campuses during
the week but it's never enough and now
also the environment in the college
campus if I was a very challenging
environment and here you have a special
environment that the focus of the Chavez
is to grow the focus is London was Torah
activism to be active in Torah make the
guys activists they should go back to
the college Inspire them encourage them
she'll go back to the college to grow
and to during the week as well so that
was the program and through that program
the guys
so many guys made best friends as a
result of that program
um I know many of the guys and they tell
me how amazing it is and how uh you know
they look forward to it and it's just an
amazing thing and uh unbelievable how
long has this been going on foreign
how it's done you know Friday night they
have a beautiful student London Cooks up
beautiful suda
um with we have special speaker Rodney
from the meaning Yeshiva comes every
Friday night that we have it we speak
every Friday night wow that we have it
and uh we have we encourage the boys to
give their Torah
and then we had and we have Friday night
we have cabusa learning afterwards the
guys come together we go to the show
nearby and the guys uh stagger way
then they enjoy each other's company but
the meal is also it's very relaxed very
enjoyable the guys are chilling in a
very positive way it's not about
drinking you know we're not that's not
that's not our focus and the guys get to
know each other they grow together and
then we have Sean this morning we go to
whether ashkenazm go to an astronaut
sure funny now we have an old combo
happening Friday night that everybody we
have a beautiful couple at that we're
gonna make our own Minion Java's day we
go different shows depending and then
depending on the time of the year
whether I'll give a share Friday night
or I'll give us we'll have our own kid
and Shabbos let's say now the shot of us
is getting longer have our own kid in
Shabbos after the happening and then
after the kiddish I'll give a sheer and
then we'll have beautiful sudo again we
have we have students coming we
encourage the students to speak again I
can see that you many times I've been a
guest speaker at the rivers in London
does commitments in London's itself felt
that a person should take away from the
Shabbos you know you're growing on the
Shabbos now you're really up to the
challenge you already have your children
you already had so much a Friday night
and and the deafening and the learning
and now let's see what you can take upon
yourself for the next month a Kabbalah
many people have made different
commitments and by the way what goes on
in the boys program goes on in their
growth program also amazing Universal
London puts together amazing top of the
line speakers to speak to speak to the
girls and she spends so much time she
advised she's become a great advisor for
the girls and he had so many weddings
thank God to go to thank God Hashem and
um so we have so we have that safe then
Chavez afternoon we have a break for the
guys we give them a little couple hour
break and then we all depending on the
time of the year is again where they'll
have a special speaker sometimes I'm a
speaker from the OU some of them I have
a different types of speakers and then
we'll have recorder every element
you know what do you say the topping on
the cake an icing on the cake whatever
it is and then they so they remember
every man saw all the years since the
other shows so we we have to go back we
took it from day one we felt you know
you want to bring the guys to the one of
the top speakers around so we go to him
and we go there and then we come back we
have Abdullah
and that's and the people grow and then
people take it with them and they bring
friends and and it's uh Hashem never
enough so uh that's a little bit about
the how the Chavez is and I've been
London London was credited the first
about souvenirship in the world really
the 1940s wow
and that's h-a-i-c and
London said look look what I've done I
want other people to follow
and other people have made other
YouTubers
this was 1940 where 1940s early 40s in
the bench in the back of Yeshiva
turvidas sorry my name is
London London was originally and he left
he went there was opened up half a time
not when I was in foreign
and his students became became a famous
Shiva and
and all the regular mainstream receivers
wanted students
and they've gone on to become great
members of the Jewish World the many
different ways so many famous students
have come from Babylon
amazing yeah you guys are very inspiring
and I I like I said I get tremendous
feedback from whenever guys that you
know people go to uh the Shabbat Yeshiva
and uh
influenced uh so many people uh via
Shabbat experiences maybe you could just
please speak a little bit about the the
greatness of Shabbat as opposed to maybe
once you have a nice meal during the
week and have some guys like this you
know Hashem says
the seventh day which is Chavez and he
made it holy and Chavez is the mechanic
the source
so when a person Chavez you're in you're
enveloped in caduce is you might not you
might not uh
see it but it's there it's a Mathias
like you know the balatorium in this
week's Parsha in vayaka
invayako he says that the parisha
connects to Lester's parashat he seesaw
it talks about the glow emotions face
current or panov and this expansion is
gathered the Jewish people together and
he talks about the Lords of Shabbos so
the balaturam says the connection to the
glow of the face of Moshe in the midst
of Shabbos because every kill has a glow
there's a special kadusha there's a
special radiator special Holiness so
when you're tapping in the Shabbos like
I think that some of this forms say the
learning of Chavez is greater and that's
what it says even learned during the
week is great but you're tapping and
you're in you're in such a level of
kadusha such a level Holiness so when
you so therefore we are we're in a great
Advantage you know Shabbos people having
a dislaves people have have the Heart is
Open much more open you know people get
distracted during the weak and their
mind is a little you know all over the
place become Chavez able to focus in and
and that could do something so we have
the extra why you have the Champions
people tap into and that Holiness in the
chamber senses and uh and we you use the
Shabbos to tap in to that Holiness and
then you'll have the Holiness of the
Torah study which is holy holy
so they have the Torah and Shabbos
coming together and really as a med
Bishop says you know that says you know
he said you're coming there with the
swell we're going to be busy they're
going to be busy working the you know
everybody's going to be busy with their
fields a lot but what's going to be
what's going to be uh must be with the
Torah
so the answer was Shabbos you'll have
the Shabbos and that will be the time
the people will will grow and uh
and and say what we're tapping into that
how does one practically utilize the
gift of Shabbat you know you know I I
unfortunately I'm saying fortunate we
know a lot of people like Shimmer and
the car bring people that are far uh
near to Torah I mean so I think for them
you know starting off
Beginnings a little bit hard it might be
difficult for them so you know not to be
on the phone or not the electronics not
to work so they sleep like
throughout a lot of the Shabbat well
what's practical tips uh to utilize your
about what's the right Shabbat right I
think the key is that it should be an
enjoyable experience and to make
something enjoyable number one you have
to first think about how you can have
great food for sure you have to get
physical you have to get you have great
food for the person
Shabbat you should try to think about
what maybe there's some good nice songs
that we could sing because really that's
something that we need to sing about
it's very important to sing uplift also
I think it's important that people
should prepare conversation before
Shabbat what things of topics that are
interesting I remember somebody you know
someone asked me Rabbi how do I protect
myself not to talk Allah
so I said the same way you prepare the
food your wife were pissed they spend so
much time
preparing the physical food what are you
doing to prepare the spiritual food even
though the physical food is also
spiritual and Shabbos but what what
what's the conversation are you going to
bring up some topics of inspiration
topics of Interest I said it doesn't
have to be only Torah subjects that you
talk at the meal but it should be
something of meaning something that's
interesting if a person's Married With
Children
they should look forward to your to you
the parents the father the mother going
to have certain type of discussions
maybe certain types of gains that you're
going to talk you know whatever type of
games you're going to think about in
marriage about table for example we
always read a story some of the kids
love stories writing stories you know
Inspire and connect with uh with people
and to add to what the rabbi is saying
it says
you have to make it you know it just
doesn't matter right to add to it right
yeah yeah but but that takes planning
and I think I think people are missing
making a big mistake that the focus is
about the food and that's great and it
needs to be focused on the food but not
enough about what else how am I who even
thought one of my thoughts with thoughts
it's a conversation how am I spending my
time who am I spending my time with do
we plan enough who will be the right
type of company to have maybe we maybe
the company that will be inspirational
for us on baby inspirational them and
when you inspire others you yourself are
getting 100 so you have to we have to
think about who's who's your company you
have to think about uh maybe you know
what the Shabbos is getting longer is
there a good class proper total class
that ice the husband should go to the
wife she goes or the children or
something and if there isn't make it
happen
every you everyone
model yeah exactly you can make it 100
there's nothing stopping anybody from
making things happen there's a way to do
it you know sometimes if you want to do
something in the show you have to be
diplomatic how you do it how do you do
it how you talk to the rabbi and the
rabbits and whatever you if you have to
the represent evolving for ladies figure
out is the rabbi want to give the class
for the represent if they're not
available let's get somebody else but
let's know how to work with the people
and make things happen on a long Friday
night there are many communities that
have connections they have different
progress whether the adults with the
children it's beautiful they have
children Friday night for kids and they
have learning and they have things the
weather for the adults it's parachute
classes in people's Apartments things
can happen we got we gotta we got a big
Playmakers I always say proactive
proactive don't I don't you know when I
wanted to play a little basketball I
don't like to sit on the bench ah be in
the game beautiful that's how you have
to be make play don't don't sit back and
that's and that's what that's what we
have to be you know you know and that's
this resource and that part of Jesus you
see us in Sean we have to be Azure
you're going to get an opportunity
anything we're going to make we're going
to be the reasons we're never
opportunity to do a good thing we should
be quick and haste to do it uh so how
does one Inspire others to enjoy the
gifts of Shabbat for example
shabbat's amazing we look forward to it
and it's the best thing like sometimes
like losing theirselves like this guy
doesn't know what he's missing out but
how do we give it over to others to uh
be part of it uh be part of the fun as
they say right so again so I would say
if they'll come to your house for
Shabbat right and they see the food is
amazing very important
Hashem gave the food coverage Advantage
honoring the Shabbat with such great
food so that's number one the meals
would be a Blow Away meal that's first
of all you have to plan it doesn't just
happen right and that takes a lot of
effort takes a lot of work costs money
won't take away I mean it doesn't mean
you're just you should buy a bottle of
wine for a thousand dollars I mean they
say what's normal and they're not in
doing something in a very nice way
that's the first thing the second thing
is like we said before
they should walk away feeling that the
conversation at the meal what's really
meaningful it came to the house and they
were they saw something they heard
something they learned something that
they didn't
know before and and there was something
and I think having that type of
conversation at the meal
and to be engaged that the people at the
Mill are engaged and they and they
really feel enriched but not just the
food but by the conversation I think
um they walk away and say you know what
I have I don't really have this
opportunity I don't have this all the
time they don't because people are not
engaged
enough in my humble opinion many times a
lot of people are not engaged in such
meaningful conversation that's that
that's really you know people could
really be hey wow that's something
enjoyable I I think I think that's the
same way sometimes there are people that
give a rabbi gives a Sherman and it
gives a speech and it really blows the
crowd as wow yeah but I think that's
every time we're at a Shopper's table
and you have guests you know the truth
of the matter is even with one person's
blessed with children
that it also should be that conversation
you know even if there's no guests at
the table
how is the conversation at the table
going to be that the children are
engaged not that the children want to
get up they eat their food and they go
on the couch and they go on the floor
and they're doing their thing and then
they should want to be tired the part of
a conversation because I think also
we're living in a time and people don't
have so much patience right you know the
ads what do you call it HD if they seek
the generation
so but I think that's that's the
planning that's the planning that we
need to plan a few things that we do in
our house fish about number one is being
that the kids are younger we go around
the room and we say thank question for
something else it shows appreciation and
it's also exciting that they have their
turn say thank you for anything and
everything the food and the light and
the family member or a friend or
whatever it is another thing that we do
on Shabbat day is very exciting they
always look forward to it and the
suggestion for everyone especially with
the the children world is uh Shabbat
parties uh you know they have some uh
some candies and some sweets and uh I
always explain Shabbat is a sweet day
that's what we have sweet uh some
candies during the week we try to limit
the sweet drinks and Shabbat will bring
it all out and it makes it exciting 100
fun and for every single person for
every single love of every single age it
can be different whether it's stories
whether it's a certain whether it's a
class whether it's a program whether
it's electric there I've always been
saying so beautifully every single
person to take something upon himself to
make this about great I should be a new
slogan we should start going around and
make Shabbat great again it's always
been great it's always going to be great
Rabbi amazing insights amazing uh we
have I mean I have a custom and Torah
talks is one final message uh from Rabbi
mayor Friedman our special guest on tour
talks so I would say that you know we're
talking about the shamishiva which is
focused on learning
we have to remember that the key for the
Jewish Community for its growth to be
inspired to be passionate is about Torah
study at the end of the day when all is
said and done we gotta figure out how we
get the adults and the children to be
involved in total study and the total
study is sweet and yes
it makes the person happy that's why
Tisha both we can't learn regulatory
study we have to make sure that everyone
like the rambam says every person a high
of colada to have a set time every day
every night because everybody or whether
poor whether single whether married even
with children the grandmother says it
has to be correlated every day and every
night and I think that is the key and
also Let's Get Back to Basics people
need to get the minion every day morning
at night
that's the basics that was and that was
the key that many years of the 50 years
ago or 40 years ago that generation that
went Dominion
they made it we have to go back to the
basics minion every day not just people
go to Sean Chavez and Shabbat not enough
they have to be in you have to be in the
game you have to be in it don't be in
the sidelines don't be a fan and you
know they used to be in it to win it
not an encouraging Lotto but you gotta
be in it Go Portugal the menu and also
make sure set up you know the easiest
time to do it is before diving after
diving in the morning or at night or
whenever you can figure it out have a
set time to learn minion you know I
think that's that's the winning combo
100 definitely everyone and anyone out
there in the world that ever wants to
learn about Hashem we're gonna get to
the rabbi's information I'll be going to
be part of Shabbat sushiva when it comes
to learning literally has throughout the
day into the nights she you're in
programs one-on-one learning Partners
kaburra's groups Kohl's during lectures
women's programs children's programs
whatever you want reach out to the
organization we'll be more than happy to
set you up and Rabbi how does it work
with so hard to understand
it's both actually uh how does one get
involved is it only for college students
is it for everyone anyone it's primarily
good for college undergraduate students
and maybe recently uh graduated students
at more like in graduate school or
that's more that's the focus that's
accommodating for uh for for housing and
things yeah every day everything is
how does one hear about it or or know
more about the Shabbos Yeshiva that you
reach out to the rabbit organization
they can reach out to me and that would
be that would be the best way okay and
how does one reach the rabbi usually a
little old-fashioned I have a cell phone
oh really but really but I'll tell you
we could do a shamishiva gmail.com
s-h-a-b-b-o-s-y-e-s-h-i-v-a gmail.com
just put it attention for Rabbi Friedman
remember there's a voice program there's
a girls program
the growth program I hear is dynamite so
I can tell you I'm not there on a
regular basis for the girls program so
but I'm there for the boys program I
know about the boys program as well it's
dynamite as well where are they uh
Freeman for being very humble but uh
amazing work that you do and again I
know a lot of the guys they're very
thankful and appreciative for the rabbit
and and the mishbach and whether it's in
London London that's all I have done and
do for qualities of the Jewish people
and that we appreciate everything Rabbi
and like we discussed today the gift of
Shabbat it's the best thing it's a
imagine it's it's part it's like the
next word to heaven in in this world and
we encourage them to be part of it get
others to be part of it don't be
satisfied at all so obviously my life is
good no bring others as well uh share
the wealth and
businesses
special shout out and thank you to
Nathan Abel for helping arrange and
encouraging and uh uh you know having
rabbit Freeman join us on tour talks uh
feel free to reach out to khazak for
future guests if you have a rabbi uh
educator a person of interest that could
share a message and talk Tara with us
we'll be more than happy to have them on
the program visitors
shout out and thank you to daily giving
a dollar day goes very far away to all
the platforms that are hosting our
podcast and especially to touring time
thank you very much we really appreciate
it until next time Tuesday night to 8 30
p.m Eastern Standard
time.org live is where you can watch it

don't know the names of it but uh the
feedback is amazing we appreciate all
