good evening everyone want to thank
everyone for joining us tonight this
very special
evening the EV is being dedicated and
loving
memory
Sona Aliyah
amen want to thank of course
congregation Bahu
um all the leadership of the Round of
Applause place of
Torah the community we want to thank of
course um Zoya Arona aronov and the
entire Arona family for dedicating this
annual shear and I think it's such a
great um role models for the community
that that that uh of course we
know the greatest MIT the greatest thing
the person could do is learn Torah
that's what we're doing here tonight I
think it's a great um it's it's a great
um all the families in the community if
you have someone who has uh if you have
a yard site someone dedicated an event
of course it's such a tremendous so I
want to thank Theona family Round of
Applause of
course the special topic tonight
connecting to the light of the Miracles
un kanaka and amist and and um of course
that uh we I think I think to set the
the the tone for the event there's a a
special message I just heard recently
that that that that a rabbi got up in
the Sho and he said he said he has three
questions and and he and um and the
three questions were does anybody on on
October 7th does anybody does anyone
have any relatives that that that were
killed in the an October 7th attack and
and no one raised their hands the second
question was the the rabbi ask was does
anybody know of of of anyone who does
anyone have a relative who was taken
hostage and no one raised their hands
the third question that the person asked
that the rabbi asked was was does
anybody um have a relative who is who is
serving in the Army and is about to
maybe go into war and only a few people
raised their hands and the rabbi got up
and he said you know what the issue is
is that every single person in this in
the room should have raised their hands
for all three of these questions and if
we would realize that that it's not just
it's not just all these that we see a
news headline or whatever it is these
are our relatives and if we and these
are our brothers our sisters and if we
would realize that then then we would
act differently we would dve him
differently we would say to Hill him
differently so of course that's the
theme of tonight we have to of course we
have to unify we should think of our
fellow brothers and sisters and of
course we should um and uh just a quick
word about the kazak organization um as
we know is on the Forefront of providing
Jewish Education for for so many public
school students our fellow brothers and
sisters who who are neighbors and
there's tens of thousands of public
school students that hak is on the for
front after school programs and Sunday
school programs at 15 different
locations for hundreds of students and
we know um that the kazak has help trans
for over 14400 children from public
school
yiva last few years so of course anyone
who has any who um someone who knows a
friend a neighbor coworker relative as
children of public school i' like to
give my Jewish Education of course we
know it's so important she Reach Out
toak organization and of course somebody
who's one of the leaders of the
community someone who spreads so much
Torah such a great Torah leader in the
community
of the the we're to call upon to say
some open

welcome
arto good evening
everyone I'm honored to be thank you for
having
me I've been here once before and I
remember
thinking how beautiful this betet is how
warm the people are and when a person
comes to
betet they want to feel wanted they want
to feel like you want them to be there
and everything about this betet reminds
me of love and warmth and kadus so thank
you ra thank you everyone who who has
made beio such a holy and special
place we can't
help but speak about
Israel and we are here to speak about
khah and one Segways into the other in
obvious ways the grand War of the
makim took place in Israel it was all
about the survival of not just the
Jewish people but
Judaism the Mak
fought and during the times of the
second beta
mikdash the only times that the Jewish
people had sovereignty over the
land was during that short time of the
makim during the first B mikash for much
of that time the Jews ran the land they
owned that they were the political
body but during the times of the second
mdash it was not like
that it was the Persians and then it was
the Syrian Greeks and then it was the
Romans and we were always a vassel state
except when the
makim the the co god with his children
said whoever would like to fight sh come
and we'll fight together and now we're
in the middle of another
fight and it's a fight sh it's not
about tanks and it's not about F35 Jets
it's not about the mosad or the shinb
bet it is about the Jewish people
fighting for Hashem for Tora and if you
don't believe this look at the videos of
the
soldiers look at the amava tank as it
goes on Friday night making
kidush inside the bowels of a tank
people
singing
Pon Beauty
love it's not
Revenge it is us screaming there is a
light in the
world and we are that nation of light
it's the reason why so
many from Shabbat when we light Shabbat
candles to Kana where we use the light
to when we light the big fire even a of
pesak we have a light when we go into
the different
Corners
light starts when we walk down the
kah light is lit a candle is lit when
we're buried it is all about light we
never give up light light is who we are
because if we're not the light then
we're the darkness Kal and when there's
a fight between the Jewish people and
Hamas it's not two Nations Waring that's
what CNN would have you believe but it
is the fight between the
maim and the Syrian Greeks
is the fight screaming the question are
we are you am
I am I part of hasem or am I just a
warrior
aamis an animal that is clothed in a
higher
intellect there was a young
lady who started coming to our house for
Shabbat
she did not grow up religious and her
first Shabbat was at our
house less than a year
ago her name is
Gabby wonderful
character she was so
inspired by what she saw the Shabbat the
children the parasa the dancing around
when we sing shal Alim she was so
inspired she said this is what I want
for myself and God willing one day for
my children and she began to come pretty
irregularly accept that her parents they
were not happy about that and they would
fight her and they would send her
YouTube videos and articles stay away
from the Orthodox stay away from the
religious you'll be you'll be
brainwashed you'll become like them and
it was a difficult
fight and she'll call me Rabbi how do I
answer this question how do I answer
that question and she's no slou she's a
doctor how do I answer these questions
and each time we have to give
kuk and so it
was around a month
ago when I got a message from Gabby she
said I can't do it Rabbi it's too hard
they're fighting me my parents are
fighting they don't want me to embrace
my Judaism I don't feel like I have the
energy to fight any
longer they're wearing me
down as said Gabby will be your
strength really your parents should give
you the right the allow you the freedom
to discover your Judaism just like they
had the freedom when they were your
age she said Rabbi I'm not even in in
New York now I'm in
Paris and I've been keeping Shabbat but
I don't think I'm going to keep Shabbat
this week There's a tour around Paris my
parents are going to this tour they want
me to come along I don't think I can do
shabat what am I going to do stay in my
hotel
room I said Gabby it's a slippery slope
once you don't do one once it's okay
once you give in what once they see that
you're willing to compromise so then
it's game
over and I didn't know what to tell
her but I said look I would I want to
speak to you more but I don't know if I
can because in about five minutes I'm
giving a class
online and this is not a typical class
these aren't adults who will be
listening these are
children it's a program I'm actually
give it a plug is called incredible
kids and each day on this program
Incredible kids they would get some kind
of personality usually it's a singer
they asked me to do it that night to
give a little talk a few minutes to the
children and then have the children say
toim for all those Jewish people the
soldiers the reservists those in AR
Israel the power of when a child
says it changes everything even have
PM changes the world how much more so if
it's not he but if it's the words of
beauty of
DAV so I said to gab you know I can't
talk but you know what can I invite you
to my kids
class I mean I'm going to speak for a
few minutes and then we'll say to hilum
together and then she said you know what
I'm lying in my bed over here she's in
the hotel in Paris she said can I call
in I said yeah you could call in but I
recommend that you go on your computer
if you have your computer I recommend
that you go I think you're going to be
inspired I was very happy because a few
minutes later I went on the
zoom and I was introduced to the
children and you know all know the way
Zoom works you fill up a page you know
25 30 people a page and then you click a
little arrow and a page two and then you
get the next page and if it's a popular
Zoom you'll have page three and Page
four it's really
exciting well Gabby comes
on I speak for a few minutes and then
the kids begin to say to hillo
and the tum was led by one of the
children I didn't lead it one of the
kids who reading was
developing didn't have an easy time but
he read through a long capital of TM a
long
paragraph and the children sat to him
together with
him and Gabby looked at these pages on
the zoom and I want to tell you there
weren't 50 kids on the zoom there were
over 500
kids today there's over a thousand every
night that come out to
say and
Gabby in her hotel
room in Paris began to scroll through
the pages of Zoom looking at the
beautiful Jewish families the faces the
boys and the girls
y a child
and right after the zoom was over Gabby
wrote and she said Rabbi that's exactly
what I
needed I will be staying in my hotel
room I will not break
Shabbat our light shines
bright
today
the chancellor of
Germany of all
places condemned
Hamas because when
the hostages for today were let out they
were LED through the streets of
Gaza and the streets of Gaza were
filled with men women and many many
children who were banging on the Red
Cross vehicle
screaming
cursing threatening to
kill older ladies in their 70s and 80s
little children clinging to dear
life to the people from the Red
Cross and you saw the children in Gaza
with anger with Fury with
vengeance animalistic Ally screaming
whipped up into a frenzy and in my mind
I
think the beautiful Jewish child who
comes on each night in the middle of his
homework or her homework and they D and
they say to hm and they pray that
everyone should be
safe and they should come back in peace
and the child in Gaza screaming lusting
for blood
Hanah when we build that light we build
the light in the
world you
know the
fight for CLA Israel is in erid Israel
and what the non-jew does not understand
is that erid Israel is not a random
piece of real
estate ISRO the AR
Tor it's all one and the
same the nation and the land have the
same
name when we look at the Torah the
entire story from until the end
of is about being thrown out of
paradise and then the journey to find
our way
back wow we're thrown out of
ghadan and we wander the Earth and we
want to find our way back to the Earthly
Gaden and that ends with entering ER
Israel that's the book end of the Torah
getting thrown out of a land and coming
into a land and our journey is to find
our way because we know when we find ER
Israel the ER Isel in us the is that
every AR every four is aah where there
are there are the that you could only do
in
is we don't have the privilege the the
theot we can't do that here we're
lost we can learn about them when the
sh our lips will speak about it maybe on
some
level but you know when the Jew cries
the Jew cries because we know that ER is
in our
veins to sh we Pine we yearn for the
land you know I'm sure you've had this
experience there are times on yum kipur
when you just feel like falling
apart and there's a peute that we say
after the aod
where we
say our eyes
cry our ears they sting that we didn't
hear that we didn't see the Marain we
miss
it our soul is an
angst it's an Agony three times the
day we say in no
benching the Greeks did not get
it America certainly does not get it the
world does not get it we are not
fighting for a piece of real
estate we are fighting for our souls and
that's why we can't
[Music]
lose that's
why says I look down and I see you're
doing hashem's eyes are looking at from
the beginning of the year till the end
of the
year we must ask a few questions and
they're important questions and let's go
a little bit
deep what is it
about the land of er
Israel that is so
beautiful I mean it's not the Swiss
alpes it doesn't have the oil of Saudi
Arabia it doesn't have the fertile
Plains of
Kansas what is so
amazing about that piece of land it's
called the Fertile Crescent it's part of
the Fertile Crescent but it's not so
fertile
what is it about ER Israel that is so
wonderful is Hashem happy with
you is Hashem happy with me no was very
happy but he could be even
happier how do we even know we're
standing here in Queens we're sitting
here in Queens I live in
Muny I come from Los Angeles how do I
know what Hashem thinks about me I mean
I hope I'm doing okay I hope I'm doing
better than okay but how do I know how
do we
know I want to tell you something very
unique about
erel erid Israel is a land with very
diverse
topography you can go to ER Israel and
see mountains that you can go skiing on
it's called
Haron you can go skiing in arel and then
you drive an hour and a half and you're
in a place where it's over 100° the
lowest place on
Earth you have mountains and you've got
Vineyards and you've got ples you've got
it all and one of the things that is
unique about ER Israel listen carefully
it has Clockwork
rain and it's Unique unique to erod
Israel what is Clockwork rain Clockwork
rain means the
following in America it could rain in
May in August in December and it does it
rains all the time all over the world it
does rain it doesn't rain ER Isel
because of its
topography it rains at a certain time
and when it when that time is over
it barely rains at
all and because it has Clockwork rain
there's a unique feature and the feature
is when it doesn't rain and it's
supposed to ER Isel is in trouble the
kerit Goes
Down The Vineyards and the olive
Groves and the
Orchards they thirst for
water and if it doesn't rain then AR
Israel and the
agriculture can
die so what happens is the
m that if it doesn't rain when it's
supposed to we wait a few weeks we areer
extra if it if a few more weeks pass and
it still doesn't rain we have fast then
we close our stores we do all of that
you know why because as the rain
does not come if there's a drought ER is
in
trouble so says Hashem you know why I
gave you that beautiful piece of land
it's not because of the oil and it's not
because of the Fertile Plains of Kansas
I gave it to you because of clockwork
rain the rain in AR
Israel will tell you if I'm happy with
you if if it rains when it's supposed to
I'm happy if it doesn't rain when it's
if it doesn't rain then I'm not happy
and you know what I think about you
based on the rain so what is that called
in Kabal it's called I'm in the
pon I'm in the Palace of the king you
know is the king happy with me I don't
know if I'm living in the Village Way
Down far away from the king I don't know
but if I live in the palace of The King
and I passed the king in the hallway I
could see oh no the king's upset today
oh the king's happy today living in ER
Israel is living in the Palace of the
king and when you live in the Palace of
the king you see the mood of the king
you see whether he's happy or not so
Hashem says if you live in LA you don't
know if I'm happy with you you live in
Queens you don't know either you try
your best but if you live in a you're
going to know and you know how you'll
know if it rains when it's supposed to
and it doesn't just rain regular you see
there's two kinds of rain that it needs
to rain one kind saturates the land the
ground you need that kind of
rain otherwise you plant the ground will
be hard the seeds won't Sprout and then
you need another kind of rain which is
not as severe because if it's severe and
you already put the seeds in the soil
what's going to happen to the seeds
they're going to go washed
away so Hashem says if I'm happy with
you it's going to rain the right kind of
rain is going to come and if I'm not
happy it's not going to and that's why
we have ER isra listen so carefully
that's why we have it because I want a
relationship with Hashem
and I could have that relationship when
I know if Hashem is happy with me where
did I know the all of this from where is
this from this is
shma word for word the second chapter of
shama if you listen to my words if you
do then I will give you the ETO the
Clockwork rain the UR the malush the
heavy and the light
rain and you're going to plant and
you're going to grow and you're going to
be
satiated that's what ER isra is it's not
real estate it's the indication that AEM
is happy with me I'll tell you a very
interesting story when I was about 18
years old I was learning in
Israel and the third period had come and
gone and it had not rained now that's
very bad cuz every few weeks is another
period so normally you would fast and
you would close the stores but ever
since
1967 when we got back the kotala maravi
we don't just fast and pray but what do
we do we stop what we're doing we close
our stores and we go to the cotel and we
ding so I was a little bit of an amateur
photographer so they said bring your
camera you're going to get awesome
pictures so I came to the plaza remember
the cotel plaza huge area and I came at
it was packed from end to end there was
every every kind of Jew represented from
the toest iron and theid to the kutnik
the religious to the non-religious the
soldiers to the civilians they were all
there and especially the
farmers and they had come to pray and it
was so packed that I could barely move
so I jumped onto a wall that used to
exist that's not there anymore but there
was a wall in the back and I jumped up
and it was great because I was able to
see the mass of Jewish Humanity and I
took out my camera and I began to take
pictures it's wonderful to see 100,000
Jews and I began to take pictures and as
I'm looking through my camera you know
what I noticed that many of the Jews had
come and they were holding
umbrellas and I'm thinking that is
incredibly optimistic because I looked
at the sky and the sky was
blue but a Jew is a Jew and oura and
our and I started to snap pictures and
an hour passed and the and people were
Ding and they were crying and there
their lands and everything that they
that they owned it was at stake and they
D to Hashem and when the first hour was
over and the filot continued all of the
sudden the skies grew darker it was
something straight out of the talud
straight out of Garra and it began to
rain on this crowd in the cotel
plaza and guess what we did that you
think everyone went running for
cover what do you think we did as Jewish
people we danced that's right it's a big
dance like
konel they stomp our feet and we say
Hashem we are your children and we need
the rain and we're doing T
sha ER is that's the second chapter
that's the second para in Shar that's
why that land is so precious not because
of the views and not the vistas and not
the Dead Sea and not the Mediterranean
it's so precious because it represents
our relationship to Hashem those early
secular zionists they had it wrong they
used to say if I'm an Israel I don't
need Torah and I'm thinking that's so
foolish the whole reason we have Israel
is to let us know how we're doing with
Torah to remind us how we have to be
connected do you see how special this
is so
now I have a different question for you
again an intellectual question
understanding the land of
Israel here's the
question we know like we said earlier
that we're supposed to be a light we are
the nation of light
and kazal tell us we're supposed to be
an
or we're supposed to be a light unto the
Nations they're supposed to see us see
how we act see how we speak to each
other and when all the anti-semites
finish their anti-Semitism on their Tik
Tok and their Twitter and the X and
their Instagram when they finally zip
their mouths and they see who we are
they're very impressed and they should
be
you know why because we're an awesome
people we're a people of we're a people
OFA we're a people of family no one's
like us believe me I'm a college Rabbi I
go from University to University I see
what the non-jewish world is like I see
Brokenness whatever issues we have in
our community it's
Kanda it's as if it doesn't exist
compared to the destruction
that exists in the secular world there's
not a healthy kid on campus it's it's
it's fascinating and scary it makes
sense when you look at our nation today
and how quickly it we we we take our
brains and we fry them on social media
because there's nothing there there's no
purpose I love it there's a big movement
in in my community in m and I'm sure
over here to get rid of smartphones
yeah you won't be there flicking and and
looking and and swiping instead you'll
be paying attention to the children we
the light but here's my question for you
if we're supposed to be the light unto
the
Nations so why do we want to be in
Israel wouldn't it make sense to scatter
us around the world I mean after all if
there are Jews in LA
then we could teach the angelinos how to
behave if there are Jews in Miami we'll
teach the people in Miami what it's like
to walk around as a Jewish
person right cleanliness of
speech to be
careful why do we want to be in one land
this is a very philosophical question it
doesn't make sense if we're all in one
land of the Middle East
how can we be an orim actually it seems
like gut is the perfect
situation we could be in Queens we'll
teach the people in Queens how to behave
well what it means to be the chosen
people they're not going to know if
we're all the way if we're all the way
in
Israel so why is our desire to be
cloistered to one land when we're
supposed to be a light to the Nations do
you hear the question it's an
interesting question question how can we
be a light if we're stuck in Israel it's
better that we're scattered
around so I'm going to tell you a
mushell that's a story to help
understand the concept there was a
person from The Little Village who went
to visit his friend in the city he had a
marvelous time and he said I want to
come back next
year he came back the following year and
again he had a great time by his friend
who lived in the big city and over
dinner he says to his friend he says you
know I noticed something I think the
king of your of your
city he must have become very powerful
this past year because last year when I
came to visit you I didn't see any of
the king's guards
anywhere but this year I came and there
was a guard at every street corner your
king must have become very powerful look
how many guards
and the friend from the big city said oh
no it's actually the
opposite last year the King was powerful
so when he issued a decree everyone
listened cuz he was so powerful this
year people stopped listening to the
king so the only way that they can he
can get them to listen is if he has a
guard in every street
[Music]
corner that's Israel you see
when we are the light unto the Nations
when we are when we are who we are
supposed to be we don't need
galut we could be in Israel and our
light will shine around the
planet when we are powerful in our we
can be in Israel and our light will will
be everywhere our influence will shine
it will affect the
world but when our light is not so shiny
when we've messed up then hasem says
okay your light is not so bright anymore
so the only way you could influence the
world is through something called galut
where I have to scatter you I have to
put a guard at every street corner
because otherwise no one's ever going to
know about
you so our dream of mashiach our dream
of
kanah is that our light should be so
bright that we should be able to live in
aod Israel and yet affect the whole
world
positively that's
light instead of tiny little flames and
queens and bonus iries and Zurich One
Flame in the great
land I want to tell you
something there was a
King who had a
daughter and she was really really
beautiful and a lot of people said wow
she's going to end up marrying someone
who appreciates her beauty and he's
going to be a prince and he'll be very
powerful and they heard about a certain
prince in a far away land who wanted to
meet this beautiful
princess but the princess had heard that
this Prince was a terrible person he was
a person of poor character he was cruel
he was mean and the princess was scared
he's going to see me he's going to want
me so you know what she did she took her
makeup and she began to scribble on her
face and she took her hair and she
messed it up and she put on her most
ugly clothing
and when the prince who had heard about
her beauty and he was excited to see her
he opens the door to see this beautiful
princess and he sees oh she's hideous
forget it what did I come all this way
for nothing and he left and then another
Prince with terrible character also came
and again she did the same thing and
each time one of these arrogant princes
would come she would make herself
unattractive and then one day she hears
about a prince who is
coming who has amazing
character he's a fine person a good son
a good friend and he'll make a great
ruler she takes her makeup she puts it
on beautifully and she gets dressed in
her nicest
dress and the prince comes and the
prince had actually heard yet everyone
says she's so beautiful but I heard
rumors that she's actually quite
hideous but he decided to come and see
for himself and he comes and he sees
this princess and she's
beautiful she is glamorous she's
stunning and right away he asks her hand
in
marriage and then he asks her the
following question he says I don't
understand all these other princes came
and they said you were ugly you're
hideous
but you're not what I don't understand
are they seeing things are they crazy
because you're
beautiful and the princess said I did
that on purpose you see those other
princesses they were not for me they
were arrogant they were Hoy they were
cruel and therefore I made myself look
ugly so they wouldn't want me they would
cast me aside but I know you have
tremendous character
I know that you're a good person and for
a person like you I let my beauty
shine in
1863 Mark
Twain famous American writer visited
Israel and he wrote about his visit and
he writes I've never seen a land so
forlorn so desolate so sad so
sorrowful there's no life there's no
love there's no happiness there's no joy
this land is deserted it's Barren it
will never grow it will never have fruit
it will never be plentiful it is a land
that is
cursed if you've been to Israel
today if you've taken an egged bus if
you've gone on a tour if you've taken a
Moni you know what you're going to see
on Orange Grove avocado you're going to
see beautiful vineyards you're going to
see olive trees Beauty as far as the eye
can see how does that make
sense says rev cook it makes sense
because the land of erid is the princess
in the
story and when the Ottomans
came and when the Muslims came and when
the British came and when when the
Crusades came the princess said you're
not my Basher you're not my
soulmate I will make myself look ugly to
you and each one came and they said
Israel Israel what do I need it for it's
it's cursed it's it's
disgusting and you know what the land
was waiting for it was waiting for its
people its soulmate it was waiting for
for you and
I when you and I came to the land the
land said ah
Fu the children have come back to its
borders and the land becomes plentiful
and it becomes beautiful and
glamorous because the land is the people
the people are the
land it's one of the same
years ago I lived in Los
Angeles I did
kiru in Southern
California UCLA
UCSB USC different
colleges and it happened once
that I had a young lady on my trip her
name was Michelle
and she came on the trip and she had
questions and she was an intellectual
and it was it was amazing to hear
her and answer her questions and see her
passion and she came on two of my trips
it's 23 years
ago and she together with another group
of students all grew close to their yish
kite she had a
father who was a reformed
Rabbi and he said I'd like to speak to
you I'd like to meet this person who's
influencing my daughter I said if you'll
treat me to lunch I'll go out with you
this way if it's a bad conversation at
the very least I ate
well sat down with
him and we spoke and he
saw I'm a good guy normal
we hit it off and he asked me his
questions about Orthodoxy and then he
said to me do you have questions
about the way that I practice I said I
have a question I want to know why in
1948 and
before the reform movement did not
support
Israel and why every time Israel's in
trouble 1967 1973
then
TI the first to pull out of the reform
they're the first
ones now we know so many of them are
left they've abandoned Israel almost
entirely and he said well I'll explain
it to you that's what it means to be
reformed it means we have the right to
change our mind that's what it means I
said yeah but where's the
allegiance where's the passion
so how wonderful was
it when Michelle decided you know I'm
going to go to study in Israel of all
places as she went to study and she
became sh
Shabbat and more than that she met a
bent
Torah and she got
married and she went on to live a
beautiful religious ttic life
a few months ago I was in Israel I was
running another trip and I get a phone
call Michelle would like to meet with
me wow it's been two
decades how are you I'm I'm doing well
barem I have 10
children my husband is still in
K learning Torah I said that's
amazing wow from Los
Angeles to now sitting in Cola learning
Kindel she said I'd love to introduce
you to my family I said I'd love to come
I'm very busy with this trip is there
any way that you can come to the old
city I'm going to be doing the tunnel
tours maybe we'll meet outside the
tunnel she said yeah I'll bring as many
kids as I can and I came to the tunnel
tours and we were waiting to to start
the tours and she
came with eight of her 10
children it was so beautiful to
see right and a few of the daughters
came over and they
said we want to thank you for being ma
of our
mother I want to thank you for helping
her find yish kite and the littlest boy
came over and gave me a big hug jumped
on jumped on me like a a grandchild so
beautiful and I said maybe you'll come
on the tunnel tours with us so the
family came and after the
tours I said to them I said Michelle
would you would you allow me to take
your kids out for ice cream and she said
sure and I took each of the kids out for
ice cream and we sat there in the Roa
right by the golden
manura as the sun was setting eating ice
cream with this amazing NAS from many
years ago to see what this family had
become and then I said where are your
other two kids she said one of my sons
is in Yeshiva now I didn't want to take
him on and she said I have a daughter
who is in farak away in the summer she's
in Camp she's a camp counselor and she
went to America to be a camp counselor I
said that's amazing I would love to to
host her for Shabbat B I'm going back to
Israel in a week I'm going back to
America in a week my Israel trip will be
over is there any way I could have her
come and she said
sure here's her number invite her we
came back to
America and we invited her we said maybe
you'll come you know we met your whole
family you know your mother was our
student maybe come for
Shabbat and she came and she was the
oldest and we had such a wonderful time
and we saw the sparkle the light the
shine of Torah and it wasn't just Torah
it was Tas
ER in this girl's
face and that's the
knas of a family that picks themselves
up from the small light of Los Angeles
and comes and makes Hashem and makes
Torah and makes Eric their
priority and actually a week from now
I'm going to be going to Eric
Israel and I'm going to see that family
again and the reason why is
because that girl is getting married to
my son in a
week they met at
Shabbat and my students oldest da is now
going to be my
daughter-in-law and that's taas
eral so with kanah upon
us I want everyone here to think about
the
light when you read about the
war whether it's the war now or the war
from a a few thousand years ago the
battle is the same it's not any
different it's all a battle of to and
connection to
hasem it's
the it's the land it's the fight of a
nation that comes back to its bride that
makes itself beautiful for the prince
which is the benim which is clel thank
you so
much thank you
much
