the way our children are growing today the Ten Commandments should have read honor your honor your son and honor your daughter we have to step back for a moment and really look at the big picture most of the time they're not heard they weren't acknowledged people decided for them a lot of that is because they didn't see a a role model they didn't see themselves in it you know you're talking from the book for the book I'm not part of it if they don't feel that connection in there they don't feel it unfortunately it becomes a subject you know did study Kash today I'm having a test tomorrow will they open up that g will they open up the tal on their free time will they actually study something did they internalize it but sometimes you bring in you make them feel like they're part of it kid has to feel that ah someone likes me someone validated me someone heard me and it changes everything [Music] and welcome to T talk program with special guests we have with us all the way from Pim and our dear friend once again rabman and we're going to be speaking about tapping into the future before we get that exciting topic backg oh wow thank you so where do we begin um background I could say that I know the rabbi for about 20 years that the the beginning of kazak days we we were looking to expand and do more like we always are to Brooklyn that's right the rabbi and your father and your brother and your family we did kazak that's a good place to start so actually um my father was learning already in the mid in Med in the Mir from before I think there 10 bharian like after he by the time he got married he got married here I was born here so you know it's it's a very different background than I think um with locals are here we have been always in Thea system started in t as commat and then when I was old enough to travel went to the Mir Elementary High School B medish my kids went to the Mir till we moved to pona uh my father learned in the mirr and uh we just continue the same footsteps with that we have uh in pona growing and uh but that's that side you know you I've been taught of the Mir and I started teaching already since 98 officially in classroom settings and you know dealing with the future already a lot of a lot of the T have they they run kilas here they have that are have a re now in that was one of my students I had him for four years in Day Camp as a rebi and English teacher in the Mir and like literally we've been we've been around yeah yeah and uh it's been growing ever since today I happen to have I guess they call it a promotion now so we're doing a director of development by Shion where we're we're tapping into more than just the future I guess here where we're doing now all three has the high school elementary and Etc every time I have the marit to come to the I see uh the growth it's always growing good things are happening so the tile title is tapping into the future AB um but before we do that what's your motivation 1998 it's about 30 years of doing uh I have to I'll answer that but I have to tell you even it's hard sometimes they motiv it's not always there but class right I can tell you one thing just start with one little thing hman when he came when he came to the Yesa the first day just I looked at him I asked him one question and I said okay this is I know this I I feel him already since I knew him as if I knew him from before and I could tell you it's not the drive I'll tell you the drive but but it's also about your your team who's around you and who's with you and and I I I can't can't imagine a day without R Hillman and others in the Yesa unbelievable I I can tell you like we did we did the um we went we had this episode when he spoke about yes we had the Torah talk with about with RAB it was I I wanted to do such a trip for ages every Yeshiva with the logistics I can't I could maybe yeah so he came that year I said we're going to do this he says we're doing it he set up everything everything everything was planned out and it was amazing went to the m every year we we went for years I have videos of him he told us he Lov give me a few he to see those videos also very he saw them okay it got it got through so unbelievable I couldn't do that you know unless I had the right right I think the was also involved yeah but but you need to have the right teilman is one of those guys I mean unbelievable so you asked about the Drive that's that's part of the drive and I think really it's I felt lucky with how I was raised and how my father gave us the opportunity to be in Yeshiva from day one to live in America since day one and um and I really as I as I get to know more and more the Community I saw my father sh and I saw my cousins and I saw all the I had already when I was re in the high school by orer milstein um the BV family all these different people were there I saw I felt like wow you know if they had the opportunity it would be such a different world and it was a fire in me I'm like I just I want to be able to to see that by others so what you saw yourself you want to give over to others that's that's what keeps it amazing I think I think I think that's really with m is I think that's really this is this is really what the concept of M is is you you're going to transfer that over you want to give that you want to give that over and I felt that you know especially if they see they see it can be done and there are people here and and it's it they have what to look up to they have what to their Drive is there I wanted to be that for them amazing amazing so so where're talking about tapping into the future what future are we tapping into H our future the survival of of our future our future the Jewish people the am yeah I I I I didn't just teach in our circles I taught in the mirror I've been been Vision I've been I've been through all the circles and I see it's a common it's a common uh uh thread amongst every one of them and I think it's very important it's that that drive that we talked about that that if if if the students if the generation sees that and they feel it then we've solved a lot of problems and and and the future is tapping into that future and that future be bright it's going to be beautiful I think I think that's really like things that come out of the heart enter the heart um you know um a lot of the episodes that we have on Torah talks uh have been on the topic of which is uh you know raising children and things along those lines and unfortunately you know the work we do at kazak we Su it many times where parents having difficulties with their children many many many times what message would you give over to to to such parent that are having a hard time raising children on the right path you know things is along those lines what do you feel Rabbi Helman the first thing is I want to acknowledge that we was going through a difficulty Shem chose him to go through that difficulty and it's hard going through it but after you know you go through it and you go through it you you're G to you're going to cherish those this you not you're going to challenges yeah you're going to you're going to really be excited with those challenges you'll embrace it and it's going to elevate you so it's hard going through it but at the end of the day that's what we're here for it's G to build you and yes build you and just knowing that alone could be a help uh sometimes just to know the fact um one of the hardest there's a beautiful quote by Rabbi w z uh that sometimes you feel like you're being buried but you don't realize that you're just being planted right so difficulty is sometimes absolutely so to go and just say that it's not hard it's absolutely not true it's one of the hardest things especially when you have struggling children a struggling child means the person is going through an inner struggle in themselves the child presents themselves and it's I would say one of the hardest that we have the hardest challenges we have in today's day and age and just to give like some advice and say oh this is the advice and that's the advice and listen to that listen to this year no it's not it's not correct it's a lifetime struggle have to work you have to dive in have to connect what do you say r so I I saw I saw in's one of his um books amazing it's amazing he's amazing a game changer and and I spoke to someone who showed me um showed me one of his far where RAB shomin wrote he's been teaching in our uh Bas medish for 20 years and that was then and he's something special well today well people know about him he he quoted the name of his mother he wrote this I forgot what par was in one of his timas and he actually in a book on his stories that he has on the para on the Torah portion and over there he quotes his mother that said you know the Ten Commandments should should if they knew about with with today's the way our children are growing today the Ten Commandments should have read honor your honor your son and honor your daughter I I'll tell you what what I understood from that and I I feel like and H attest to it chall challenges challenging children and and and difficulty I I I I think I think we have to step back for a moment and really look at the big picture imagine um someone's trying to plug a leak's he's using the wrong tools and by the time he plugged it he smashed so much of the house there's nothing more to plug I feel like you know in in in that in that question children need their space and I dealt with high school and and and Junior High kids and most of the time they're not heard they weren't acknowledged they weren't heard um people decided for them and what I mean by that is um we see by we see in in in theas in the Torah portion in the beginning Genesis K God doesn't need anyone to to help him but he says he's talking to the angel he says let's let's now let's make a person what you mean who you talking to over there asking device is he really asking who does he need the device he knows but sometimes you bring in you make them feel like they're part of it I feel like I feel I feel I feel that a lot of a lot of that is because they didn't see a a role model B they didn't see they didn't see themselves in it they they feel like it's you know you're talking from the book for the book I'm not part of it one of the reasons we have schools that for our community by our community is because you want to have a role model where the kid could look up and say wow he could do it I want to do that too it's sh it's possible you don't have that otherwise and I feel the most is you have to give you have to give you have to show you have to show you know he was by R H was by my house once for a Shabbat we have shabbatones I have tum that are that I had since early 2000 still coming those aren't married those are married comeing with their families a connection if they don't feel that connection in there if they don't feel it it's all it's all just you know it's unfortunately it becomes a subject you know did I study Kash today I'm having a test tomorrow um did I did I do the 30 minutes for gar because it's only a test will they open up that gam will they open up the talud on their free time will they actually study something did they internalize it they didn't find the connection yet to it that I think is more important it is probably the most pivotal thing you need to do you have to have that all the skill sets everything later M automatically fits in because now he wants to he wants to right I I you know I I'll just go a little further with this I had I had uh someone once wanted to make fun we had a student years ago his father is part of the Kabal Center all okay I heard all of it and I told this person back I said but do you realize that most of these places when they write Kabal they're not teaching you Kabal just it's a it's a clickbait it's a catch to get the guy to come and look at the whole entire family became sh you know as long as they're in the right in the right places with the right people but that sometimes what what they have to feel the kid the kid has to feel that ah someone likes me someone someone validated me someone heard me and it changes everything I was dealing with um one of the local Rabon here in the summer for kids that were not in Camp right I don't know if you I don't know if I reached out to you but we had a few kids and there was things going on in certain places and and all all behind the scenes we we were able to to work with the parents and with others and and get they reached out nobody knows about this why they why they reach out to certain people and not to others because they feel that there is that and I think that's really what's missing today I think it's it's even even in not in this circles all circles all circles Reby what you want to add just want to say that what you're hearing from Reby is like um rebby Mir said it's actually and I was I had the opportunity to be in re's classroom many many times and I got to witness it firsthand and you know sitting behind the desk you actually get that feeling when you're by RAB shim of you feel part of his family and you feel like there's a father with with a family a father that cares for his children it's not like a teacher teaching it's you actually feel part of part of him part of his family part of his life that's how he teaches and demonstrates and that's how he models the more we give in that way in that like family in that unity in that caring loving way the more the children will be able to connect and that's actually just by hanging around the rebi and when I say rebi it's he's a actually a model for other re him had to be as well the love the kindness the smile he's just waiting to give that good word to everyone to put his hand around everyone's shoulder it's a tremendous that I had to be with rabie we one time we had teach toot to okay if I tell the class we're doing toys SP today what do you mean we're only yeah it's hard remember we just I just gave a case and then the most surprising hands would get up raise their hand they would say but what about I said oh it's that's exactly what says on the top of on the first of the first tra the first page on the tractate and they're like what we just did toys I'm like yeah yeah yeah yeah we did that let's look inside now okay we have to do words we have there's a lot of skills that we could learn there but but they didn't even they didn't even feel it it's about the approach it's about theug of yourself how to connect and you seen when I came to to your SCH and to speak and the connection and the people that came what was going on I feel I feel that that that uh gave me the call for that relationship is very very important connecting with one another we have P coming up also if there's a way to connect p the holiday Passover and so I I thought about this and the four Sons can and it's not I don't think even it's my my fa I probably heard of in Bame everybody you know from any rep from the pap all the way to some some snag some some some or something the truth is our our community and then the whole the whole the whole and I would even go by that token out would say the entire world at this point yeah we have the the the the smart one the one who's intelligent who can understand and you could teach him in the inside and he'll take it his book Smarties this Smarties all that then does the rash obviously you know in our circles those were the uh those who lived in the Communist World they were introduced to aish that by bar Baron this was like you know this is they're anti everything then you had the Tom who who kind of saw his grandfather kind of saw the father he remembers there was a kidish at home there was something my grandfather had a Torah every grandfather is a rabbi they remember something I remember the miror English principal Mr Rook came and he saw r on the wall picture he's like that was my grandfather everyone's grandfather he's like no that really was taka was they changed the names they lost family everyone's grandfather is a rabbi yeah but then there's the that's I think I think gave us such that we have and we have places for everyone today otherwise they would have been they wouldn't even know what to ask because they never saw anything we were lucky we got out you know my my family happened to have been out already late 60s early 70s and I followed him in ER then he came here like there was a sniff in panovich over there and he won some raffle came to learn of the mirror was very lucky whole story you know he he he inspired my cousin Kiko also to to go to the Mir because of that you know we inspired them it it was we were lucky we were lucky and then the entire uh you know the influx of everyone coming in from whether it's from Iran 20 years prior or from our countries and and and the Russian Jews and so on and Ukrainian Jews we're very lucky very lucky but the all is still around and especially in today's world is so confusing the whole world you know the whole world they got stuck with such nonsense they're worrying about such nonsense policy making such nonsense the whole world to take a turn pause throw it out new government even in the United States government they changed it it this any a DA show The Melting Pot that we have here is is very very very big problem even till today you know shows us that you got to open for him that's what like kak organization and and and so many other organizations that are out here and and the truth is I think I think I my belief is that these organizations should really be all under one umbrella and work together and I think I think there's so much more that we could do it's like a person that's uh a person that's Torn Between Two shs and he's not sure which one to go to he likes both he's not sure which kidish to go to he likes them both and he's Stu you don't have to have that it doesn't have to be that way we're all one we could we could we could put it all together it could it could work it doesn't have to and I think I think that's that's really something I've been talking about for a while is that bring everything have 100% Rabbi saying beautiful words we have final message for our Torah talks from the rabbis you can say your final message I'll say m next so like as we said before my brother RAB shimu treats everyone like a brother and he treats everyone like an equal and like he said so beautifully um from the PK and bous nasam it's not so much you know is does it mean that God is actually asking he's not but it's the his approach he's treating everyone like an equal he's including everyone into the conversations and that's so important and that we see from reab actual way how he gives a class he doesn't just throw the information he when he asks a question he includes every single student when he answers he makes sure he reaches every single student like he said so well the he opens them up not just on P but every single day is p p get get the P to talk and um it's a to be around the Reby it's a to be a part of yesion that's actually the first time we met rebi and he was actually the first one to give me his beautiful sh and that hug I'm sure you remember that that first day that hug and [Music] umon that's where rby got to actually gain hundreds of students and he he sends them to the mirror he sends them to Yesa YT the high school over here in Queens dark and we see a lot of you know special students that come out and they grow up to be real mature men and together with the help of kazak you know the way they help out every single student to grow and to be a true um son of Hashem yeah one everything compliments each other I feel like um thank you so so like for example I was giving a she in the kahil in the we gave Z she and he writes over there he says oh by the way Zohar compliments the talmud which compliments the midash and if you get the if you know all three then you have the whole picture clar you have it all clear and I think I think I think that's really what we're saying here I feel like you know it's the world wants to talk about inclusivity we we have that it's in the Torah it's it's not their thing it's our thing and we've always included everybody and and that's the way that's the way every I think every Tama should feel and every tamid should feel and every person every child every every child every person that's the way they should feel you want to have a successful business business if your if your employees if if your employees feel that way it's going to happen as well it really depends get everybody involved and I think I think that's really that's really that's really one of the the drives like you said earlier the drive I feel like you know if we could if we could instill this into everybody it'll just make the world better place and and we could achieve so much more and get get to Great Heights um with kazak as well like when we when we started in Shmo youth in B in B Park of all places I can tell you the first the first lesson the first class we wanted to have it wasn't it wasn't your brother it was someone else that wanted to come speak and I was told we should get we should get the Sham room there because there's going to be protests a certain speaker was going to come and I did call I called I called a sh but we didn't need him at the and we used tankle the that's the tank tankov and we had an over SP of people hundreds of people came in and you know what I saw something on that day I I said to myself I have I would never imagine what kind of people came in wasn't just the regular what we would expect as a crowd every walk from every walk all backgrounds I remember those it's it's and I've worked in these schools with these backgrounds and I can tell you they're all the this approach is is needed is needed everywhere I I feel like that's get everyone involved make every feel make everyone feel like they're welcome and they're part of it it and when they feel that way they will they too will grow and I think all the you as about the children with difficulties and all that it all dissipates it all falls away once they feel it I I think I think just that term itself is already the problem once we've categorized this this child that way you know my my motto by the way was never to look at the uh sometimes they want to give you a little bit of a profile I'm like listen to me I'll figure it all out is there any any concerns in health that's the only thing need I don't want this guy CH choking in class in the epip pan or whatever it is everything else will come I want to look at everybody like that and and and I think I think that's the right approach I feel that's amazing the Ence of P that's the essence of of beautiful amazing RAB Gabriel shim yeah one more thing sure as a final message I just wanted to share an idea that I was part of actually for over 15 years in Brooklyn there's a program it's called laav program which is a program that we learn with boys by night and that program actually helped out hundreds and thousands of boys who had maybe a struggle or you know they didn't have the parents there by night and we did this for over 15 years and I was part of the program for 15 years and it was tremendous success so that's something also to keep in mind to have programs in the neighborhoods um by night and I know rabby shim of does it kazak does it like we have programs Yesa we did mishar I came back from Mony came back got them Chinese food from my my brother-in-law store at that time he had the sushi Fusion and the Other M so we we had him he he he sponsored I had the board of lamb kept the yes he was there till I got there and was today the all right now one's getting been getting married he's he's in he's in London these guys they were they came they came some came for food but the ma they they 100% I agree with RAB Helman programming in every single community and kak's on a Miss we're going glob communities around the world are asking for kak to come we can say noon's asking too okay we're ready are we not we're ready we're ready we're always ready want to thank every for joining us once again T talks 8:30 p.m Eastern Standard Time k.org cjz q.org
