I was sitting in the in the in the listening to questions in the Bas h b h in in Lakewood of course and somebody calls in he ask the question to the rabbi he says I want to be like you what what do I need to learn in order to be a POC like you he told them I'm I'm not sure uh I'm not finished learning I still have a lot to do I I don't know what to tell you this this there's a lot to do why don't you go find a K in your neighborhood he asked him where he lives and they told him to go there the point is he's trying to tell him is that you really have to have a consistent small nuggets you have to learn everything consistent small nuggets and over time it'll add up it'll add up to a [Music] lot and welcome to Torah talks kazak Tuesday night program with special guests we have with us all the way from L welcome so good to see you okay having me we're going to be speaking about the greatest investment and before we get to the greatest investment if we get a little bit of background about the rabbi thank you sure I feel uh the warmth and the the hospitality here my name is Sim I have two passions or Hobbies when it comes to one is and then the other is I learned in KY Ben by Ritz for uh for many years dear friend you know course okay very nice and from Baltimore um I'm not a but I'm a I'm a talid you know I I enjoy very much uh learning and I want to speak about how important Hal is you know as as investment of time um you know in a person's uh daily learning amazing so so you're saying the the Great investment in a sense is is is is uh is is the time in learning so so uh what primarily okay amazing so so so why is learning Al so important there's D yomi there's a yomi for this yomi for that why is it important why would you say is so important to include in a person's daily learning gra so it's really the premier way to spend one's time in learning I'm going to read to you what the the says in his own words if a person learns just a little bit it's proper that his main learning should be should know how to do how to ACTA that's what he say he says in a few places and it sounds sounds like a uh a stark statement that this this person has 20 minutes a day he should spend it are learning so obviously he needs a source he needs a he needs a proof to that so his proof is from the gar brings a simply this meansem loves y he loves a place the gates ofion from all other places the says a sh could also mean not only a gate it could also mean uses the word sh as a in the in the rules of D you could change the sound of the V from o to U so that's how the explains means a mark So when a person learned Su and at the end he has he came out with a with a final with a final understanding of it that's soem loves the that come out with a from All the Other M and whatever they learn that's what the gar says and uh and um and thear adds to that that if a person learn earns he has the how does he have the because when the bdash was around there was a where all the Sanhedrin sat and there was there obviously talking about the great SED there was there so when the when the when the B was destroyed where did all that go the mar explains that's that's the that's what the gor means when the gorah says that um from the day that the was destroyed doesn't have in his world only the four cubits of because that in the sanedrin was mis it was displaced where was it going to go so it finds itself in a place where a person um learns now there's so many from when we wake up in the morning um the we say as we wake up and the way we wash our hands and what we say before we go to DAV and the way we put on and and and and all different and then when we leave the sh and then when we go to work and then how to do business and then uh and then we we have we have of that and then all way till we get home and then when we eat and we have and then uh and then when we go to sleep and then how we go to sleep and how we use the bathroom everything the whole entire day wherever we walk wherever we live the whole day is all every single move every single yeah it's it's surrounding us the entire day so um if a person is not is not uh doesn't have a strong understanding of then how is he going to know what to do and one out of every seven days is and writes in his introduction he brings the words from the it's impossible it's impossible impractical in any any any rules of nature if a person doesn't learn all the rules of shabas Al in Clarity hative hative really really well it says impossible to to not by mistake make a mistake and and and so the brings in the introduction from there is exactly 248 limbs that a person has and there is exactly 248 positive Commandments writes that every single limb of a person gets um sustenance gets life from from from a Mitzvah from from a specific Mitzvah and when a person uses his hands when a person uses his feet when a person walks around every everything that a person does with his body that gives the Mitzvah gives sustenance to that limb and he says that there are different types of Limbs there are different types of mitzvot certain limbs a person could live with certain per certain limbs a person can't live with a hand and arm sometimes unfortunately you know know people could live without it but a heart a brain you can't live without it so he says that there are certain mitv that come to the core come to the essence of Y that a person cannot spiritually eternally he can't live without it so amuna belief in Hashem that's that's the mind that's the that's the that's the LA that's that's the that's the heart can't live without that he says sh shabat shabas is shabas is uh is that we we're we're keeping shabas because we believe that hasem created the world anything that's related to the core of of Y that that gives a person life and he says that's what it means that's what it means and the P always talks about like life uses the word life like person will do it and he'll live with them so what says is is that in the future a person is going to his his his body his his future his his uh future body is going to be a sustained by the mitv that he did when he was when he was on this world and he was alive so that's what it means a person does the then it will [Music] be all these that discuss um life and says that's what it means at the end of it says at the end at the end of at the end of life everything is going to be heard that means every will know how careful everyone is with their mitzvot you'll be able to see the handicap if it's a physical handicap it's a mental handicap it's an emotional handicap be able to see what the person was careful in that's why it says continues the person needs to fear will keep the this is the whole person The Whole Person Needs all the mitv very nice every single part of the day it's the whole entire day 100% s wi one might say you know all these it's so vast so many volumes so many books so many topics so many details let's leave it to the rabbis I have a question I go to the rabbi why is it that the average individual the regular person no one's regular but uh why is it that he should jump into the vanwagon with regards to learning these so someone who doesn't have so many questions when it comes to so he either he knows a lot he knows everything that could be or he doesn't know enough to ask sometimes a person has to have a background in order to be able to ask so if he does know enough to ask and he has a rabbi that he could always call is a rabbi always available there really is there really is so much to know there really is so many details to know unless person has a personal bodyguard that he could turn around to every second and he could say tap him on the shoulder and ask him you know what do I do now so how do I do this what do I do it's not really practical it's not really practical and it's not it's not only that it's you know when it comes to math some people they freeze up you know they have like say they hear somebody making a calculation they start Mak and you think to yourself okay this is not for me let me know when you're done I and I I trust you I trust you okay what is that that's that's that's like you that's like giving up that's like it's too much it's too big I I it's it's not for me but a person when the same it's really the same thing with Hala you know there's um there's a there's a there's a place in Lakewood called Mike's Chicken if you heard of it okay they sell uh they sell um uh you know good chicken and uh and people buy it and they have on one of their boxes says that uh if you want to warm this chicken up for shabas what you do is there's a way it's a method that on chabas you can take it out of the refrigerator and you can warm it up on chabas this dry chicken cooked dyed chicken what do you do you have to you need a ble you take a uh a 9x13 or you take a pan you flip it turn it over and then you put the chicken on top of it if somebody doesn't understand what that's about it's like it's like you're lost like okay okay how do I do it okay I have to take it out okay oh it has to be dry okay put it over here it has to be on a ble okay to flip over the pan okay I can't put it in a pan right side but it has to be upside down okay now I have to put it on top of it okay it's good now it's fine the rabbi's okay with it if a person understands what this is about it's it's it's a from usually we don't allow on shabas to put on top of a fire this is really considered on top of a fire so we usually don't allow it but since it's on top of a it might be considered SM like you're putting it on the side of the fire instead of the top of the fire but your person can be an educated an educated Jew and when he sees something when he sees instructions he could feel impa say I understand what this is the person goes to to buy a dad minim and he sees people looking at the the the esog he's looking at it you know I don't know it looks nice to me I don't know he doesn't know what he's supposed to be looking for and he has a long uh he's a long uh Lula he doesn't know he sees the rabbi is coming he takes out his Loop his magnifying glass and he's looking at it like this and he's looking at like that he doesn't know what anybody's looking at he says I'll bring it to the rabbi like what you said I'll bring it to the rabbi and he'll he'll figure it out for me but that's but but you you really could know it you really could understand it's really not that hard to know the basic framework of all theas to be able to feel empowered to be able to 100% a person feels also when he knows knowledge is power in a sense empowerment he feels that that that good feeling 100% I see it all the time when an individual knows his he knows his he knows the you know what to do when to do and how to do it's it's it's a game Cher 100% so so so one might ask there's so many different when it comes to uh we could go on and on about the different names but uh what really sticks out a lot in the is uh the Mish by the why is that and uh and maybe you can Enlighten us right so the truth is is that if you're looking for a a Simplicity there's so many ways a person can can dedicate 20 minutes day you know to and over over time he'll really see how much how much much he knows um there really is a lot of simple way I have a friend who learns yakut ysf he says it's very clear super clear uh we do in the after is guaranteed place in the world to come so I do every single day a few you know and uh it adds up you know it uh it gives a lot of the people a lot of inspiration you just cover ground and cover ground and yeah there's there's uh there's all different there's uh there's all different types of swarm there's English yeah but ribat has beautiful on uh on onab there's even an English M breu now coming out a cousin of mine is is there's a lot there's a lot of ways to do shout out to my friend Rabbi ban from he has the in English as well very very popular a lot of people are using it but I still think that if a person's able to it takes a little it's a little more difficult person's able to the the the Mishu is the way to go now I was I was sitting in the in the in the listening to questions in the base h B in in Lakewood of course and uh somebody calls in and he this he asked the question to the rabbi he says I want to be like you what what do I need to learn in order to be a POC like you so so he so he told he told him I'm I'm not sure uh I'm not finished learning I still have a lot to do you know I don't know uh you know I I don't know what to tell you this this there's a lot to do why don't you go find a K in your neighborhood he asked him where he lives and they told him to go there the truth is you really could have told him you know there's some Basics that that that every R needs to learn you know and there and and um the point is the point is he's trying to tell him is that you really have to have a consistent consistent small nuggets you have to learn everything consistent small nuggets and over time it'll add up it'll add up to a lot so so the Misha is is really is really a little bit complicated it is but the truth is this problem is really a old problem it's really more than 800 years old the rambam writes an introduction of of his saer he says there's a there's a whole gamarra there's or there's is and people don't know how to people don't he says two problems people don't have enough time people don't have enough skill figure out how do you how do you pasin how do you make aak from from from the whole you so he said that's why I'm writing my safer and he and he wrote his safer for the purpose that a person could literally just read what he wrote and could know what to do that's what it was but then uh the tour had a problem with that because it didn't have some of the ash so he put out the tour and then the B went and wrote a long indepth uh uh you know a commentary on the tour and then he realized hey now I defeated the whole purpose we have the tour with the B now now people don't have time and people don't have the skill what's going to happen so he wrote the right and then the then the raist came around ra he said well it doesn't incorporate the he says you know what I'm not going to write my own thing I'll incorporate it together we put it together but then you have a few hundred years you have the M AR and you have the Taz and you have the the Shah and some places the and then you have the the chuvas and um so then so then there was already too much in order to know what you have to learn it all so then the sh cha and the they wrote a but then another 100 years passed and there were many things M writes that the reason why he wrote his safer is because the and the sh Chua is missing a lot of very very very important um important PO he says theud the later the is all missing so that's why he wrote the mission so but we have another problem that was that was 100 years ago also because when the talks about that you can't put the uh uh you can't put the pot on the on the on the fire on in the oven and the Rama says our ovens and Mish says yeah it also is referring to our ovens these days because because our ovens are are fueled by by by coal and it's open and uh and there's enough space so it's not considered like a tanor it's considered like a Kira our ovens our ovens our ovens are uh you know plugged in they're they're gas ovens so we don't have we don't have halalam Masa from the Mish yet either so the deu did a wonderful job and they put on the side a lot of different notes that adapt the mission rura to to uh you know to our to what to our life and they have also tieras for uhak also my friend yeah also I I hear that's really it's really very success amazing it people are learning it on and we just brought the deer shoe set into the Sho as well at the end beautiful it's unbelievable just to yeah yeah okay go ahead I was saying how important it is what the rabbi is saying how basically the importance to learning the biggest Mitzvah that we have is learning Torah the question is why is that there's so many other mitv and the answer is how are you supposed to do all the other MIT the RAB touched upon this without learning Tor that's why learning T is equal to all the other when you're learning in you're doing everything as well right so it's unbelievable right but I say back to what I was was saying before is that really we're we're have the same problem a little bit now right that the 100 still a similar problem because even with a de that's why there's with a you coming out yeah you have to now learn the you have to learn the M then you have to learn the de notes and there's a lot to there's a lot to learn by the time you're done you know you already learned through a lot of a lot of things but I still think that it's really worth effort if a person has 20 minutes a day to learn the Mish even with the notes maybe he needs maybe he should listen to a Shear that's going to guide him through or maybe get a Kusa or you know to guide him through What notes to learn and what to focus on but but um let's say let's say when it comes to uh uh somebody wants to learn about medicine so he reads a medical book so it says you know what do you do if if if you're sick I can take penicillin so he can't use that that remedy you know for the next ailment for the next issue he can't do that so what do the do how come the do doctor has has a a vast knowledge he has a he has you know a lot he knows a lot about medicine he's able to make the right un choices decisions for that situation same thing like a a lawyer he passes he passes the bar and all of a sudden now he can stand up in court and defend uh defend uh ex criminal no it means he has enough knowledge that he could use his knowledge base and he could apply it to the specific situation an accountant he gets a CPA so now uh you know they could take care of your taxes your tax issue all no you have to research it you have to you know you could specialize in something specific so a person he if he wants to be able to have enough knowledge to be able to really do everything right he has to be able to make uh make comparisons from one thing to the other cuz not everything not every situation is you're going to actually read in the in the in in the and like we said unless you have a rabbi as a bodyguard how you going to know every single moment how to do it so in order to really build this database this this knowledge of of of rules and how they apply to each other because a lot of apply to each other a person can ask a to do a for for a a is is like a is like Aon so even if a kon's not young child is not a there's a lot of rules that apply one to the other so in order for a person to do that he really needs to you know the Miss has in it more than a thousand years of History you start from the the is really words from the from most of it is from the gamar it's really words from the gamar and if it's not from the it's from the or from the and then you have the and then you have the Mish is also dealing with more than 500 years of of of of of and then if you take the correct you know the proper notes in the which whichever D whichever other you use then you have you pulled it all together but besides for knowing you know you're allowed to this you're not allowed to do this but you really built for yourself that database that vast database with 20 minutes 20 minutes a person could learn one side of a page of mission buo in the right way with the right guidance and after a year or two it adds up 100 adds it adds up similar to the famous Reby K story he saw a rock and it was a hole through the water the water was you know another drop and another drop another drop every single jab it it accumulated to what it became same thing with learning you're going to learn and learn a little bit more and more and more and more then you're going to see the mass effect that it has on an individual the record was very very big into it would always tell people you have a few minutes to learn you got to learn how to because it tells you what to do it's as opposed to uh you know again everything is amazing phenomenal great but it has to have his priori St beautiful amazing words gems we love every single moment it we have a mhag accustom of a final message on our Torah talks my final message is don't give up don't think that it's not for me it's too much it's too vast it's too big you know I have a rabbi I'm going to ask him you know everything is is gets so complicated it's not true it's not true every single Jew has the same the same yusha the same inheritance of the Torah as everyone else 100% And the most simple in his mind he's not simple but the most simple person could could spend 20 minutes a day 20 minutes a day the deers cycle is only five days a week and two days of kar but what however you pick whatever whatever the way however you you do it with a small amount a day and you plug away at it even after a year or two guarantee you'll start feeling successful guarantee give it a year or two and then you'll start enjoying sucess breed success and that enjoyment is just to continue humiliated you're going to be learning more you're going to have much more than 20 minutes yeah right you'll find more time 100% so this is the greatest investment of your time where ladies and gentlemen learning getting into it every single day doing a little bit and a little bit more through the Tor we allete [Music] Redemption all the way from Lakewood New Jersey for the beautiful words of kuk we want to
