and he said if you only have 5 minutes study muser study ethics and his teachings and you'll find really have more than 5 minutes a day and just like our time in this world is measured our words are also measured we're told we are given a certain number of words to speak through our lifetime we ought not waste them unless as are speaking people of other people it said that theis asked for a birthday party on his 90th birthday and people felt that was somewhat out of character for him being so modest and when I asked for an explanation he said that his entire life he trying to explain to people the value of Shir guarding your tongue and speaking good only about other people and that it promises a long life and now he wanted to show that it was really true he tried to teach us the art of Silence hello Shalom my dear friend I've come to talk with you again we haven't spoken since 1903 around the turn of the century but the message that you planted in my brain still remain it was the sound of Simon you talk then what words could do how they could twist their m true words can build and words can devastate words can establish love or senseless hate and like daggers they can Pierce a person's heart split upon the the very Sound of Silence and in [Applause] 1931 I married off my son when he asked me for some sound advice I told him sound would be more precise you must measure every word that leaves your lips relationship sh flourish on the sound of silence and in [Applause] 1953 with my grandon on my knee he has the secret of lity I said the trick is sensitivity you must judge every person favor [Applause] [Music] master theond of silence and in [Applause] 1999 we're still around and doing fine as your 107th birthday years I wish you many more joyful years myar sh such the of CLA is comprehensive as the name of hasem indicates he was is and always will be and this idea is beautifully expressed in one of the 13 ons of the ram and we've tried to capture the message in a song recorded back in 1990 on the fourth vist album [Music] [Applause] [Music] GL [Music] is is [Music] oh is for [Applause] [Music] ohy let all [Music] [Applause] the know on the all [Applause] oh the Nina Orchestra and our conductor this evening really needs no introduction I've had the pleasure of working with him on numerous occasions numerous projects over the years and I must say that he as much as any vocalist or songwriter has helped to shape and establish Jewish music as we know it today ladies and gentlemen the very talented musician and Ranger [Applause] well another one of the round's principles of Faith details our belief in the world to come in the sa for G there's a beautiful Parable that compares the difference between the womb in this world to this world on the next the next song conversation in the womb is based on that Marshall and was recorded back in 1984 on the first Journey's album I should mention that a short time before that someone had given me a copy of an album produced by ncsy called the TOA connection there was one voice on the recording that I had never heard before thought was particularly beautiful I called the ncsy office they gave me the person's number in fact we did that duet together on the Journey's album that person ladies and gentlemen was and is the [Applause] [Music] my dear brother look around and tell your eyes don't deny that you see it's only you and me without a Rhyme or Reason to our without a RH or Reason to our Liv but dear brother you must have faith that we are not the only on CU in the distance there's a place where we stand up T and straight oh I believe that there there is a world to come yes I believe that there is a world to come my dear brother don't be blind don't be stubborn don't be set imagination it's all right but it won't light up the night what you see is exactly what you get what you see is exactly what you get but dear brother you will surely find when all is said and done that the future it will show there is so much we don't know oh I believe that there is a world to come [Applause] yes I believe that there is a world to [Music] come my dear brother where have you gone is this the moment I have known I can faintly hear a cry my dear brother must have died it's all over now forever I'm alone it's all over now forever all alone but dear brother please don't mourn me when my life has just begun just what you hear are sounds of Joy congratulations it's a Bo oh I believe that there is a world to come yes I believe that there is a world to come cuz what you hear our sounds of Joy congratulations it's a Bo soon you be here with me in this world to come soon we'll be together in this world [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] among those most responsible for spreading and promoting auna to our youth perpetuating it from generation to generation is of course the rabim and moros the devoted teachers and educators of our [Music] children when I first moved to Toronto in 1984 I wrote a song that expresses what I feel to be as one of the most important ingredients being a good teacher but I had a problem the melody for the song was a country tune and who in Jewish music could sing fortunately just a few days after arriving in Toronto I learned that a very talented songwriter singer and guitarist moved into town just a few blocks away boy can he sing country ladies and Gentlemen please [Applause] [Music] [Applause] welcomeing the a could not have picked a better week for me to come here and sing this song for you [Music] guitar and gentlemen bit louder please when we she boys way back in 65 we were on throughout the city as the bombs from the East side in school we never study all we did was laugh and play and don't ready lasted long they all just R away re triy to teach us Torah each and every day you just close our eyes and ears say all we like to do was sit watch our TV sets we talked about the [Applause] I've been waiting for that all day and the Dodgers and the me well the principal brought the new Reby in first video of the tour and he said to him show discipline be strong com don't let these youngsters run the school s a big brown and out the way for the next few weeks I'm going out of town well this year re he was strange never lost his cool he kept right on teaching while we broke all the rules even though we hadn't learned a single thing all year it was pce off time already and that Rey was still here let he tried to teach us po teach every day he just closed our eyes and he everything say all we like can do was sit and watch our TV sets we talk about the Yankees and the Dodgers and the well when V momer came around it was time for the big game against those boys from Brooklyn he pray and shouldn't R all nine of us got on the bus with our gloves and back Ry also came along with his jacket tired right from the Star we all could see things weren't going right some big Straw from Ben and H one say just as things were looking I bet the tide about to turn our catcher W broke his leg while sliding in third it's some forit cried the other te you only got eight guys no we don't deep voice said much to our surprise since I am there Reby the fair thing it would see let me be the ninth man n man of the team well Reby went picked up the bat and faced the picture with a smile I knock the cover off that wall went about half a mile he flew around the bases he scored the winning run and we danced and cheered until he said now boys you owe me one well the next day in the classroom no one moved and no one stirred let he started teacher and his voice it could be heard we all say hey it's interesting the Manny is no Bor the legendary East Side bones were gone forever more ready toach eyes and ears no more can we sit all day watch our TV set ah we talk about Rashi and the tophus so uh we have a sequel to the ninth man we're working on it we're working on it we got we got one verse and one chorus yeah so I'm going to just give it to AB a little bit tell one people always ask you know whatever happened to those guys back in 1965 it's about 35 years ago I'm sure you all remember us the moment from the East side well now we live in Lakewood but we're pushing 45 we have lots of children loads of bills to pay no one's into baseball what we do is learn [Music] all each and every day we open up our eyes and ears every we thanks to him well learned virtuous and wise but one thing is for certain we don't get no [Applause] exercise we open up our eyes and one thing is for we don't get [Applause] [Music] [Applause] much this past week was the fifth yard site the greatest Jewish composer of our [Applause] [Music] time he revived the spirit of the Jewish people after World War II with a musical style that was new yet it was rooted in the Liturgy and Melodies ofic Europe his music was never just entertainment it was a means to elevate to bring even closer to the maker for this alone we miss him so very much thankfully we have his music more popular today than ever he left us countless Melodies to remember the treas ladies and gentlemen with the help of Dove and schy this is our tribute to SCH [Applause] people think people [Applause] say that the saddest thing in life is when someone passes on and leaves this world let me tell you let me tell you that the saddest thing in life is when someone leaves this world and leaves nothing behind that [Music] you you left us us all of Cl Israel with a legacy a small piece of your precious Soul you left us with the gift of your song not for I've had the privilege of collaborating and connecting with AB through nigan for over 25 years and of all of his beautiful nunam to me this one song transcends them all I think it's okay to say that maybe at SII when am was receiving the Torah the ab n was not only receiving the Torah like receiving the Torah song the place where I belong I did not know he was going to say [Music] that I was made way back in ag 1842 by a humble man a real God fearing [Music] Jew who did his work with honesty with feeling and with pride he was known in K as young The [Music] Scribe with love and care his hands
