[Music] welcome to the J world book club my name is haigha Maxine and we are continuing with the 21 principles of the book eat that track with Brian Tracy and we are now principle number seven for success focus on your key result areas identified those results that you absolutely positively have to get in order for you to do your job well and work on them all day long until you become the best on that it is one of the greatest questions you will ever ask an answer what one skill if I develop and did it in an excellent fashion would have the greatest positive impact on my career you should use this question to guide your career for the rest of your life look into yourself for the answer you probably don't know what it is anyway one of the fastest and best ways to stop procrastinating can get more things done faster is for you to become absolutely excellent and your key results area and of course now you know what your homework is take a piece of paper and write down all the skills you need to have in order to become great at what you do and then identify what is the number one thing that if you can do that you're gonna become the greatest and the best and your area of work is it sales is it time management is it communication skills whatever it is you can't help it if you do that you're gonna become so much better and we are now covering principle number eight apply the law of free [Music] identify the three things you do in your work that account for 90% of your contribution and focus on getting them done before anything else you will then have more time for your family and personal life write down a list of everything that you do in your career over the course of a week or the course of a month then ask this question if you could do only one thing on this list all day long only one thing which one task would you contribute the greatest value to your company if you could do only one more thing one more thing on your list of key tests which would be the second activity that contributes the most value to your company and again if you can do only one more thing on the list of key tasks which would be the third activity that contributes the most value of your company ninety percent of the value that you contribute to your company is contained in these three tasks wherever they are everything else you do is either a support desk or a complimentary test that could probably be delegated downsized outsourced or eliminated perhaps the most important word and the world of work is contribution you rewards both financial and emotional will always be in direct proportion to your results to the value of your contribution if you want to increase your rewards you must focus on increasing the value of what you do you must dedicate yourself to contribute more results to your company and the law of three are usually the three most important things that will contribute the most and here you go at your homework make a list of the tests you have to do in your company today or tomorrow this week next month to advertise them by the three most important things that will contribute the biggest contribution and the biggest result to your company and make a commitment to focus on them before focusing on anything else and we are of the principle number nine prepare thoroughly before you begin have everything you need at hand before you start assemble all the papers information tools and work materials and numbers you might require so that you can get started and keep going you know how much time is wasted when you have to go start looking for stinks in the middle of a project if you have everything prepared beforehand you're going to be able to zoom in and focus very very sharply on whatever you have to do and that will be a game-changer it's going to save you so much time we're gonna help you not to have aggravation because you're missing certain things this principle is a very important principle that you should do before you start any project that will help you immensely and everything you do thanks for being with us this is hi I'm Eckstein in the jaywalk book club stay tuned as we're covering the next segment of the 21 principles for success with Brian Tracy [Music]
