for me to do a podcast in English for now out of my comfort zone I'm ready to step out of my comfort zone also each and every one of us has what to share what we're going to be discussing over the next several weeks are fundamentals they're not just the nice ideas or you know considerations which if you do it you can't help it but succeed for me to underwrite this deal I'm going to get out of my mind you know if I can give anybody a gift it's enabling them or I should say facilitating the process to allow people to get to know themselves you're there it's not like you're finding a new Rolex watch that never belonged to you who you are has always been with you you don't just enjoy the outcome you enjoy the process be being afraid is not going to pay your rent being yourself will good morning it is so exciting to be here even though I'm in New York and you're in Israel but distance has not affected our relationship and I'm very proud and happy to say that we've known each other for many years and I'm just so excited and honored to be to be asked to be part of this show with you uh as I mentioned to you before spending time with you is valuable and I appreciate that yeah it's so nice to be with you and uh you know the feeling is mutual we have been friends for many many years and when I reached out to you with the idea I have a podcast for the last I don't know six seven years in Yiddish and I reach shot with to you with the idea that I have a lot of people English-speaking people or non- Yiddish speaking people that ask me why you know lur why should why shouldn't we also get the benefit of all the teachings that you do in Yiddish and I thought a lot about it and one I tell you what one of the reasons why I only did it in idish until now is because I had a co-host for those who you know those who listen to the podcast P glabber know that I have a co-host in yish and uh and and we speak all the time and I it's let's put it this way it's my comfort zone for me to do a podcast in English for now uh maybe not for now but for a few years back was out of my comfort zone now maybe it's more in my comfort zone you know I'll speak to you we'll figure it out over time but uh I'm ready to step out of my comfort zone also oh my mic is keep keeps coming up but anyway I'm ready to to step out of my comfort zone and uh and and I have no doubt that you know together with speaking speaking with you on the on the podcast will make my life so much better and I'm gonna have fun doing it so let's dive in and do it so I want to pick up on something you said just already on that you know we have a m when when we look at at and we particularly now in these parus and we're coming into eventually say for emerges as the greatest leader of the history of the world not just of K and you have to remember he was very hesitant to take a lead he didn't speak well it wasn't like you said it wasn't his normal comfortable comfort zone and it was being asked a lot of him and just told him at you side and that is you've got something to share you know and and and how it's going to get out to everybody how it's how it's gonna work that's not your business you have something to share and it's your responsibility to share that and you know it's it's a as as with everything in the Tyra everything that happens in the teror is a message to each and every one of us so the teror is speaking to us as well each and every one of us has what to share we all have unique value and you know I know you in particular have a very unique kind of direction that that and a lot of insight and you know as much as it's may not be in your comfort zone it is so important and I'm so happy that you've decided to do this because if not then every all that value the Ben has invested in you is not going to be sh and and how do we gain from that yeah you know and if it doesn't come through you it'll come through somebody else maybe but this is your this is your opportunity and and you're you're the right Kaye so it's just very exciting and I'm glad that you made that decision to jump out of your comfort zone yeah and thank thank you for saying that and I'll tell you more than that that you know my job and and the funny thing schulam is that I speak about that in my books and I speak about that in my programs but I need somebody like you to tell it to me and and and it's it's like I if the person thinks that it's him then it's Gava but if he understands that Theon is giving it to people through him so you are the CLE you are the vessel to bring the whatever has to be brought to the listener to whichever whichever listener is going to listen to this you just make yourself available and never dare to tell to tell to USM no I don't want because he may say you know if you don't do it then I'll choose somebody else the same as he told beautiful example with MOA No I gave you the mouth I gave you the you just go do your thing and I'm going to be with you let's do it if you're not the one who's gonna take the advantage of it but you have the opportunity I'm and excited let's go for it let's do it let's do it okay I was thinking because this is the new the first episode and and uh in this program we're going to dive into a lot of other subjects and Hope hopefully over time over the next few weeks we're going to start getting questions from people and and comments from people that going to give us for for thought and uh and give us some guidance on different things hot items that that that people are looking for and we're looking to do this once a week so for now because it's the first one and there's a book coming out I'm gonna uh I'm going to publish a book very soon it's already done in Yiddish and now I'm middle of translating it to English and it's going to become coming out very soon so I want to start talking about for the first three episodes about the three pillars that I call that you need for exceptional success for exceptional people and um and let's try let's try to focus for the next three episodes on each of the episodes another pillar okay and interesting go ahead you're using the term pillars why specifically are you I know you're going to elaborate on this but before we even go that direction what what is a pillar why is it a pillar as opposed to a a foundation or a different word like why a pillar yeah what does a pillar mean a pillar means it's like you know in Hebrew they say amut you know pillar is a a uh a I don't know you have any other English word for pillar no but a pillar just means it's it's something very foundational it's it's it holds everything else up so I just wanted to understand if that's when you're talking about these three pillars what we're going to be discussing over the next several weeks are fundamentals they're not just the nice ideas or you know considerations these are essential fundamental ideas that you're going to absolutely and and I and I've chosen the W pillar very very carefully because in my over 20 years of experience working with people with their finances I have identified three things that if you master these three things you can't help it but but be successful but if any of the three are missing very very small chance of success and and and again I want I want you to understand schulam my experience is mostly with uh Orthodox juice and when most of the things that will create an exceptional successful Orthodox Jew is the same uh strategies the same ingredients that you need to create an exceptional success for any other human being but what I will tell you is that in my experience working with Orthodox Jews the Orthodox Jew has no other option but being successful when I say successful I mean financially successful because the whole lifestyle it has so much more value than just finance and if you want to be able to fund the values that you have you need a lot of money and if you're not going to have a lot of money to finance the value system that you have then you know maybe you you can still collect charity you can still go out of your mind and and and and and try to battle and pay blah blah blah but when you talk to a secular American guy he'll tell you okay you know what I don't have the money I'll sacrifice on my values but the Orthodox Jew will not say that so when I say the three pillars for exceptional success for the exceptional person I don't D mean the Orthodox Jew but I mean the person that has the the same mindset and I talk about the Orthodox Jew because in case you don't know I'm an orthodox Jew G as much and that's most of my clientele but I see the same thing happening with any other person even a nju that wants to have that has the same value system and the only option is to have exceptional success and I call them exceptional people and if anybody who listens to this even an njo if he considers himself an exceptional person and when I say exceptional person I mean that his value system is number one in his life that's the foundation for his for his life then I have no doubt that in order for him or her to be successful they need to have the three pillars and to have it in order so it's it just again I want to just touch on something you said because I think it's crucial you're not just offering Financial advice you are actually advising on how to develop a financial mindset this isn't about different ways to to earn money or make money it's about developing a mindset that that really is like you said the underlying uh ingredient here behind these pillars and behind everything you're going to discuss but it's important to make that clarification I think for the listeners is that mindset plays a big role in everything we do you know mindset is a big buzzword today having a positive mindset having a committed mind mindsets all over the place but a financial mindset is is kind of new you know to put finances in that way it's not just a matter of learning how to keep a budget but it's it's it's having a mindset and that's what you're introducing and I think I just wanted to pick up on that that you know this is more than just Financial advice absolutely and it's also more than the mindset it's mindset it starts with mindset and you're 100% right that that's the starting point but if you have this the proper mindset it will automatically uh it will make you do certain things a certain way right which if you do it you can't help it but succeed fascinating okay well let's go you got me really excited so so let's start with the first pillar and that's what we're gonna Focus today fantastic and the f I call the first pillar find and find and do what you love doing so when I say find and do what I mean with that is the first step is to find because a lot of people don't even know what they love doing and when I say what you love doing it's not like just uh you know you like to do something it's it's it's part of you it's part of your personality and the the foundation for that is what says that created every living creature with whatever they need in order to have parosa in order to have their their livelihood so uh for example let's take a lion for example what is the Liv for a lion how does a lion havea he basically eats other animals he kills and eats other animals in order to do that what does he need he needs a certain type of nail he needs a certain type of feet of tooth to be able to to uh to to kill and and and eat whatever animal he wants so that's why AEM that the same the same creator that created his way of nourishing himself created the means that he needs in order to be able to do that the lion doesn't feel like working when he captures an animal and kills him he feels like it's just another day in his life and he loves to do it it's part of his personality it's part of his being that's what he does right now in the same you know he goes on with mulam I think it's in in the fifth chapter in chapter five he goes on chapter 5 I think he goes on with a lot of examples now when you talk about a human being the the the the the person the the the how do you say in English the the top the the the the mo the most refined example the the the the best right so when you talk about a human being the every human being has a different way that Hashem wants him to get his perosa that Hashem wants him to get his livelihood so in order for him to be able to do it in an easy way in a proper way in a way that makes sense he should succeed doing it Hashem created in that person a certain personality that if he us uses that personal personality that Hashem gave to this person which is unique to him he should be able to work and have perusa and and have no issues whatsoever with his livelihood and love how he does it and get up every morning excited about what he does it should it should be just like another day and can't wait for to go out to work can't wait to to to do to do what I'm what I'm supposed to do and that is unique to every human being every human being has his own unique his or her own unique personality that they need in order for them to Ed in the marketplace right and you you you call it find and love what you do find suggests that it doesn't come naturally to a person to know what they love to do they have to be intentional about about discovering that about themselves is that is that what you're saying that's what I'm saying because most people and I tell you there's a few reasons for that why a lot of people I don't know I think I can say most people yeah I'm thinking now working with so many people most people when they get into work in the morning they can't wait for the day to end and somebody who really loves what they do and they you know they the they should continue you know if somebody found such a occupation they're lucky they're the exception it's amazing when you get to that point and one of the reasons that I see and maybe you can identify more reasons but one of the reasons that I see that most people don't know what they love doing and it's it's very it's very uh it's very interesting that they shouldn't know such a thing I mean they live with themselves for the you know since they're born how how come they don't know such a thing and one of the reasons they don't know it is because for them it's such a pusher to thing it's such a simple thing and it's such an amazing uh it's something that they don't even understand why somebody in the world should pay them for it I'll give you an example um I had a conversation with one of my children a few weeks ago this specific child is very very good in technology he loves technology he loves figuring out how to automate uh certain processes with technology and there's a lot of things in my business that I need to get done with technology that I can do I'm a very technical person but it's not my talent it's not something that I'm looking forward to do and it's not something that I'm interested in doing I do it when I have no choice so I come to my son and I had a conversation with him about doing uh doing uh certain things for me in my business that he is capable of doing if he wants to do it for me and he said sure why why not I'll do it for you and and uh I told him I'm going to pay him to do it whatever and then he says no why you know why should you pay me it's so easy it doesn't take too much effort from me and then you know why you don't have to pay me so anyway so I explained to my son that the reason that it's so easy for you is because Hashem gave you this gift in order for you to have parosa with something that you love doing and that why it's easy for you but don't assume that because it's easy for you it's easy for me or it's easy for somebody else of course it's not easy for somebody who was not even technical you know so don't assume that it's easy for everybody and then I have a coners I had a conversation with my son about uh a certain project a Le estate project that I want to get involved and I told them that I want him to help me with it that he's going to do the underwriting and he's going to get the facts done and know have the whole picture all the details all the nuances and then I will go and speak to to some people that uh you know some of my contacts to bring money to fund the deal and he looks at me and he says TTI I don't understand why should you work so hard to speak to people to bring funding for the deal um you know I'm going to just do the easy part of underwriting the deal and and do all the you know review all the details and then you going to have to go out and do the hard part of bringing in money and and we we were talking about you know we're going to end up splitting the profit so I explained them try to understand what's going on here for me to underwrite this deal I'm going to get out of my mind I don't have the the the the zit flash sit and review the details and I'm going to want to rush I'm not going to do a to job it's going to be so hard for me from the other side if I know what you did and I can understand everything you did and I see the results I see the big picture I just have to go out and speak to people and explain them the deal and have them invest in the deal that's easy for me and then and then for him for him it's just the opposite if he's going to have to go out and speak to people about raising funds raising capital for the deal he's going to go out of his mind he he doesn't want to speak to people about deals and blah blah blah but s and do the underwriting that's his talent that's what he's made to do so so so just a second let me just finish that's why a lot of people don't that they have a unique talent because when they think about the unique T they don't even understand why somebody in the world should pay me for something that's so easy right I I mean I think what you're saying is so profound and it is so so it's just I you I can't even limit it with words how crucial it is what you're saying my background how did I end up even getting to this situation where I'm sitting across from you you know you you came to me because I I have you know experience as an executive coach and I I am involved in in helping people identify career paths and and and particularly and specifically in what you're describing I I specialize in helping people identify their unique value and and really capitalizing on it but how did I even get there because it's funny my background and my education and my credentials is really in Holocaust Education you know I SP over a decade building what turned out to be a fantastically successful International Holocaust Museum here in Brooklyn um so how do I end up what I'm doing now but it's exactly what you're describing is what brought me into this work and that is because through the time that I was working on Holocaust Education I came to the conclusion that what I have to offer is not focusing on the persecution or what these terrible Yak sham Nazis did to the Jews but really focusing on how did cluso manage to experience the hell of a holocaust and yet people still managed to attempt to survive and people did survive and you look at the greater Jewish history and you see this is a theme throughout the history of kille and it that's really my you all the years I spent on Holocaust Education was really researching and educating about that and what I concluded was what is that like what you're saying that everybody has a uniqueness and we all have something special about us and we tap into that nothing can stop us from from attempting to you know just carry on and fight whatever challenge we face because when we tap into who we really are the amount of strength and courage that we develop is is Unstoppable and that's what you see throughout Jewish history and particularly in the Holocaust we have so much testimony and eyewitness reports and people like vict Franco who wrote a book focusing just on this and I could go on and on about how this has kind of developed today into a study in of itself but when I was faced with a challenge by covid that I had to switch I didn't want to give that up so how could I continue educating helping people with this type of work outside of the museum and that's when it occurred to me you know helping people as an executive coach would give me the opportunity that to help my to to help people really identif Y and Implement their unique value and help them you know if I can give anybody a gift it's enabling them or I should say facilitating the process to allow people to get to know themselves because that is the biggest value and commodity that anybody any of us have is is our value because my value is not yours and that's what makes me special and um so through the course of my work you know what what you're saying resonates so strongly because that's exact L what I spend time doing my experience with clients is exactly as you're describing but you asked the question why isn't it a dou pent why isn't it simple to people but I think the answer is because we as human beings over complicate things not necessarily our own fault but the just living in the environment that we live in we have so many things going on as we develop as human beings we have so much that that that just gets thrown at us in so many experiences and so much uh just different stimuli that that really create a levels and levels of distractions and those distractions it create this distance between the way I am looking at things now because I'm just functioning as a human but really getting to know myself and those distractions stop us from really focusing and being able to identify who am I so I I believe if I'm not mistaken what you're describing is really the process of removing those distractions and and person if if successfully is able to remove those distractions they will indeed become much more familiar and develop that self knowledge of who I am what do I really enjoy doing so when you say find and love what you do that finding process is really a moving of removing these distractions because you're there it's not like you're finding a new Rolex watch that never belonged to you who you are has always been with you so it's not finding something new it's finding yourself that's always been there but removing the distractions that got in the way so you can actually tap into that and release that unlimited power that each and every one of us has once we take ownership over that value absolutely sham you and I love it I love it I see that I ignited something in you and you became so passionate about it that's amazing I love it and just for the to remind you I don't know you probably remember but just to bring the listener into our lives a little bit I met you through the education on a trip to Poland if you remember and I'll tell you something interesting schul also that I always was fascinated when I was a little child I started thinking about you know they keep talking about how many Jews the Nazis y killed six million Jews and and then what I what I couldn't understand is I don't understand I I see everybody that I know who lived through that time survived so why do you tell me they killed so many Jews all the Jews I know from that age survived right but I I I I got older I started happing oh you know why you that's the case because that's the only people you know because all the Imagine how many people you would have known without that exactly most people did not survive most people did not have the teachings from Victor Frankl and and and I'm not saying you know that if everybody would have had the teachings from Victor Franklin they would have survived but maybe more people would survive I don't know but the point is the point is that so many people are walking around and not enjoying what they do and we can have this conversation from a mindset perspective and from a from a for from from from a from a point of view that it is important and it is important that you feel good but when I talk about the three pillars of exceptional success for exceptional people I talk about a monary value attached to it right it's not only the idea and the the the good feeling of it it's actual money not only is it actual money it's when when when you know by my conversations with people when somebody found that I consider it like they found the treasure right so when you tell me you know so hard inflation and prices going up and cost of living and this and that and the other no that's nothing compared to the problem is nothing compared to the benefit of finding what you love and then you do what you love because once you do that your the ceiling is the the sky is the limit you know you don't have any ceiling where you can grow because when you tune then if you hate what you're doing then you're not going to look out to grow and you're not not going to get too much man and it's either you're going to want to retire or you're going to want the day to to end but when you love what you're doing you're going to you're going to be looking to improve you're going to be looking to raise up in the letter in the company that you're working on and or improve your business and have more services impact more people and it's good the more work you have the better it is for you wow and and the more and the more enjoyable and and and energizing it is you don't just enjoy the outcome you enjoy the process the process that's what and that's where real real enjoyment and and happiness comes from I mean that that's something that's been studied and and and acknowledged that happiness for most people for most people the the work that they do their occupation let's call it is the is the means to an end right but the focus is the end but when you work in your within your unique personality with with what what you love doing the the means is part of the end right and that's that's the growth mindset for sure so now you understand children why this is pillar number one yes very clear I would love to go into pillar number two but I think we'll leave that for a different uh for a different conversation anything else you want to add before we end no I I I just think like like you said said I mean if if I had anything to say I would I would say this that this is not a hard process it's not don't people listeners shouldn't get scared while they're talking about something so lofty and so you know so big I mean how can I even think about spending time on them I'm just so busy or or or or it sounds so overwhelming but the truth is it that it's not this is this is something that we internally have and and the process of getting in touch with that is really not as overwhelming or as scary as it may sound as as a matter of fact it's on the contrary the the once a person begins that process of kind of scaling back the distractions the the amount of pleasure and satisfaction that's gained will quickly overcome any anxiety or hesitations because it's just natural it's what we want to do absolutely and I tell you the other thing is you know in the book I go into details how a person can find what they love doing because you know people are listening or listening to this conversation are from every you know stage in life you have young people who are starting out you have older people um I wanted to say like me and you but you know we're not the older we're younger we're still younger but you know you have people from all stages in life and and and sometimes when we talk about it people ask yeah I understand yeah it's important how how I have no idea what I what I love I have no idea what I made to do and and most of the time it's between you between you and me they do know it's just that they didn't Discover it yet they didn't um for example for myself um when I found that I was so scared to say what is my personality because then I'm good in everything you know you know the people who are good in everything I'm good in cooking I'm good in baking I'm good in learning I'm good in speaking I'm good in uh writing I'm good in and and and figuring out new technology I'm good in I and a lot of people especially the people that we relate to have this problem that they're good in everything and they sometimes they think it's a br you know and it reminds me of you know few few weeks ago I I was very hungry I didn't eat breakfast and I was right near Evergreen and I went into Evergreen and I was looking for breakfast took me half an hour and I came out with nothing so not because they don't have they had everything but because they had everything I couldn't find anything and and and sometimes this is the problem because you think you're good in everything and not not you think you might really be good in everything and sometimes that could be the biggest curse for you and you have to find what you really really love doing if you have to narrow it down and all the rest should be delegated as much as possible and there are interesting tests for that indexes you you can do some tools very simple tools now talk in the book about that what people can do to test themselves to see what they're good at but I can tell you one thing if when I say you I mean the listener because I know you you nail that down for yourself but if the person didn't figure that out yet you should make it his number one priority and don't be afraid because a lot of people a lot of times I see people are afraid to say that they're good in something and that's their thing because they think that be by saying that they automatically say exclude all the others don't be afraid don't be afraid and in case it turns out you're going to be focusing on on on your your nature what you really think you're good at for for a year or so and it's it's going to turn out that it's not that okay you tried and you know but at least now you know what you have to change but don't be afraid to attack it because once you find that it's like I don't think I'm making a I'm I'm exaggerating when I say that I feel like I gave you at least $ million in monetary value right be being afraid is not going to pay your rent right being yourself will and if not day one then day two and if not day two three ultimately it will it will you will get to where you want to be if you focus on that fantastic valik okay let me just say before we finish um if anybody has any questions any comments things that you want us to focus or if you think we should bring on somebody on the podcast you can always leave a comment wherever you see the message wherever you see the the the recording and um and let us know and we Willem look at it it's been fantastic thank you so much first episode thank you for the opportunity very good looking forward to much more
