thank you Dr Al Scher I cannot tell you
how excited and happy I am uh to be here
today for the official ribon cutting of
the kosher Pantry we conceived of this
space many years ago and it owes its
existence uh to a number of people who
saw this need and help make it a reality
I need to acknowledge and thank uh
senior vice president Michelle Lloyd for
her
tireless tireless and well Relentless uh
advocacy for this project without her it
could not have come to completion I
would also like to thank Sandy Klein and
Barry G orano and nutrition services who
help diligently to make this uh to help
complete this
space but this kosher pantry is not
about us it is about the huge number of
families who come to our Hospital who
need to eat while they spend many hours
and sometimes many days in our
institution and who only eat kosher
foods because of the importance of this
religious tradition to their fam
it is for these families that this at
least 5year labor of love uh is
dedicated while this space was a long
time in coming it's opening today is yet
another example of Chop's commitment to
patient and family centered care this
project has taught me more than I ever
thought I would know about our Orthodox
Jewish Community uh we set up a shabas
system so that families could get into
and out of the south tower on the
Sabbath and we now know how to check to
make sure that the are Ro is up on
Friday
afternoon and the fire retardant Suka on
the third floor of the seashore house
what an amazing thing I think for us to
have uh done but I still have so much
more to learn and so much more to
discover and share with my
colleagues while we have accomplished
much with our cultural Effectiveness
initiative we still have so much more to
do and it it is with great pride then uh
that I here today to help with this
ribbon company this R ribbon cutting

pleasure now to uh introduce Rabbi Fred
