But soon after we welcome the angels in our house we say to them “Tzeischem LeShalom” “go out in Peace”. The obvious question is why? Why do we tell the Angels to leave? Don’t we want the angels to stay with us in our house? There are many different answers to this question but the one that I like the most is as follows. The “Sefas Emes”, (the Gerer Rebbe) says something very beautiful and enlightening. We don’t say goodbye to the angels that just came to our house on Friday Night. We say goodbye to the angels that were with us the whole week. There are angels with us the whole week. But when Friday Night comes the angels that were with us the whole week leave and the new angels come and they don’t leave. They stay with us the whole Shabbos and the whole week until the next Friday Night when we welcome the new angels and say goodbye to the angels that were with us the whole week. That teaches us that Hashem sends His angels to our house every Shabbos, to be with us the whole week at all times, to help us and to protect us.
