the 12th step without real humility can
turn an addict into a real codependent
because then all of a sudden you become
the one who has to rescue everybody else
you can't rescue people their journey is
their Journey their timeline is their
timeline all you can do is when God puts
you in somebody's life at that moment
then be there at that moment the best
you can be and let go of outcomes that's
very very tricky it's sort of a paradox
because to completely let go and to say
well I can't control anybody so
therefore I'll never talk to anybody
again that's easy right that's how I'm
recovering from codependence I'm going
to become a Hermit I'll never talk to
anyone again then I won't control them
or the other extreme which is oh you
want me to go talk to people sure and
I'll go control them yeah that's the
Other Extreme but the balance is that I
do involve myself in other people's
lives I do show up and I do offer a
message that I think is helpful but at
the exact same time I'm totally
accepting of the fact that they don't
have to listen
