Someone had to say it…

I'm gonna call out something that is happening in our community that has gone on for way too long that I'm witnessing with my own eyes getting worse and worse and worse every single day and needs to be called out right here right now it has become socially acceptable in our community to publicly shame and to publicly embarrass people on the internet and on social media platforms it's happening in high schools it's happening in professional settings and it's happening rampantly all over our community how gross is it to take a person and to blast that person all over a WhatsApp status WhatsApp groups Twitter Tick Tock LinkedIn podcasts how gross people's lives are being destroyed people's families are being destroyed people's children's Children's children's Children's reputations are being affected it's so not a Jewish trait to be able to do that maybe people think that because they're not seeing the face of the person that they're attacking on the internet that it's not so bad let me tell you publicly attacking a person and Judaism is the equivalent of murdering another person what's the proof is that when you embarrass a person they turn white why because the blood leaves their face it's as if you're killing them our sages tell us that you're better off jumping into a burning furnace than to embarrass another person that's how bad that's how big of a sin it is to embarrass a person you know it used to be that when you embarrass a person who's in front of a few people today with a flick of a wrist on a social media website you can embarrass somebody in front of a hundred a thousand or tens of thousands of people and the worst part is it's become socially acceptable even leaving a comment a nasty comment degrading somebody's character in front of hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people to see where does that come from it comes from the influence of the world we're being influenced by the world it's socially acceptable on Twitter to to do that let them do that it's not a Jewish trait we go out of our way to protect each other we go out of our way to not speak Russian Hara to speak to not speak evenly about another person to not embarrass a person publicly we have to get better at building each other up and not destroying each other and tearing each other down we as a community have to do better we have to be a light into the Nations and to act like a mensch I hope this message finds you well
