Recently, the rehabilitation center was inaugurated in Jerusalem
to treat Multiple Sclerosis and Cerebral Palsy.
Welcome, Kobi Wiesel,
Director of Beis Finger
Tell us about the place
and its uniqueness.
"Beis Finger" is one of two rehabilitation centers
that we have.
Grabski Rehabilitation Center opened 14 years ago in Migdal HaEmek
and our specialization is
MS and CP patients.
The center is for people who are severely disabled physically, but have normal cognition.
We started in Migdal Ha'Emek
with a new concept, to dedicate ourselves
to daily improvements and the quality of life of the residents.
It comes from a place that ...
- Do you call them residents? – Tenants,
not patients? residents
- wonderful …"They're not sick."
This is our belief, precisely to the point, we do not focus on their limitations, we focus on their strengths.
We try to cater to them individually – and it is also unique here in Israel.
We don’t fit the person to the place, but the place to the person.
This is the basis of the music room.
We wanted to invest everything, the most advanced technology,
to enable anyone with any limitation or disability to do what they want.
This music room was initially set up four years ago we began to develop it,
today it is the only one in the world.
Can you tell us what you're doing there?
I'll tell you: There is a something for every person,
no matter what he can do, including if he can only blink his eyes
or if he can just think - he can still make music.
Meaning, everything is built on sensors, electronic sensors. - and a computer program.
A sensor covering all the extremities, each extremity individually,
and each is capable of producing music.
You do not need to be a musician,
just by doing physiotherapy,
occupational therapy,
then, there are no limitations. There are infinite opportunities.
You sit with a music teacher, together with
the social worker and physiotherapist,
together, you all have a blast.
It's great emotionally and you manage to progress to a place
where he would never have been.
- It's just so exciting
Amazing! This is amazing!
They record it? Release records? Advertise it? Can you hear it?
We had an official opening three days ago,
We had a performance of four residents, each with a different ability,
one does not speak, one who can’t move, each on a different instrument
not a physical instrument, a virtual instrument, with motion,
even one finger, or ones mouth,
you are able to produce music.
Thanks so much Kobi, It's just very impressive.
Thank you! An outstanding project.
