Behind The Scenes At DPW Massive Storm Cleanup

[Music] one side want to come back through we will eventually we will get there like I said like with all that amount of snow as we go around the turn the truck starts to slide to one side then we have to work work with how the snow's pushing trucks also if not we'll get stuck and we'll never get done you know but unfortunately it went to one side you know we'll work on going back through there and pushing around we've been working day and night since the first snowflake hit the ground tell you the truth so yeah I hope so you want to conversation who are we talking to from thank what's your name uh Phil real no problem thank you have a nice day bye one second ladies and gentlemen this is Phil Ru Phil has been here for many hours since um since the storm storm started he coordinated trucks out on the road pH I want to thank him behalf of of myself mayor lickstein who's a little camera shy but who spent a lot of hours here as you know I want to thank you on on behalf of the committee uh the residents of Lakewood for going above and beyond for being here uh you can see he's blood his eyes are a little blood chot and um you know for just U for just doing what he did thank you good morning I'm here with Al bur superintendent of uh public work no you're not the superintendent you're the director of the public works department what am I doing used to be the superintendent for so long that I uh I get confused this is a personal thank you to Al Al is a personal thank you to you and the whole crew here I've been here with committee man lonstein who I wanted him to be here I asked him to be here but he's a little camera shy today right uh this is a thank you a personal thank you from me and you know what from all the residents of all the residents of Lakewood to you the whole DPW crew uh you guys went above and beyond to make sure that everyone had I should say everyone 95% of Lakewood had at least one pass by this morning I know that we're working feverishly outside to get the other 5% um cleared I think we're down to about 12 or 13 streets that need one at least one pass we've got over 25 pieces of equipment out on the field right now going over what has already been done eventually we hope to have the whole town clean by the end of the week we should have some rain that will help yeah it will something Al just mentioned to me is that tonight uh today it should be above the freezing Mark which will melt some of the snow tonight it will fall below the freezing Mark which means it will freeze people need to be take Extreme Caution to be very careful because the roads will be S slippery is that correct that's correct Al you you all all I got to say is I know that this storm's made a lot of people interven a lot of people we tried the best we could with equipment we had some breakdowns uh the committee's been working with us trying to get equipment up and running and my mechanics has been breaking her back we had trucks stuck uh the snow was an unusual snowstorm it was awful heavy and we're trying the best we can and I'm sorry if we inconvenience anybody but we're doing our best we can and we'll continue on in next couple days just so you should know friends of mine from Bricktown and Jackson and Tom rer have asked me to send trucks there to get them out well I know they have for the great job we're doing thank you Martin do we do we somebody there back that was a load Steve Hill went out up getting stuck in the back hold right he got but he got stuck by stuck yes there was some just just it's not going to make you feel better just so you know that at 5:00 in the morning someone was out on East N Street your East N Street and it was supposed to La just so you know I know it doesn't make you feel better I know it doesn't make you feel better but if you go look at the old night you'll see that that was done a little bit she was looking for plowing she's a dispatcher husband looking to do for the morning I would like everyone to meet Doras in addition to being a world class athlete a run will be in North Carolina will you mind to do a 100 mile race is that true right 24hour 24hour 100 mile race I wish you a lot of luck I and I personally owe car a dedic gratitude to dor he sat with me in the in the truck for 5 hours last night right we we understand that uh a little of embarrassment we record on video not being
