how do we become more generous people more giving people how do we do it sometimes we trick ourselves and we tell ourselves i can't be such a giving person it's not for me who are the giving people those are the people on the kaiser committees those are the people that are spearheading the new initiatives those are the people that look for heset at every single opportunity but me now it's not for me the rambam on his commentary to the michelin alvos tells us this is a grave error a terrible mistake and the rambam tells us let's say we have two options option number one is give a thousand dollars to one person wow what if i said give one person make his day a thousand dollars what's the second option take one dollar and give it to a thousand different people over the course of time one dollar here one dollar there what's greater what's more desirable the rambam tells us so beautifully one to a thousand give one here one there one here one there because what happens to us what is the impact if we give one to a thousand we change we become givers we become more generous more altruistic we become to evolve everything about us changes we become giving individuals so the next time we tell ourselves i can't do it it's not for me that's a terrible mistake it's for all of us we have to just seek out opportunities and give our time give our resources give our heart to every opportunity that awaits us and barak hashem there are many opportunities every single day we should work on ourselves to give and to give and to give and then bizrat hashem people will look at us as the role models of caring giving and altruistic individuals [Music]
