Every week over here
there's a habura preparing like you said
the booklets preparing for Shabbos.
Rabbi Korn recently started a time now
video.
Every Shabbos there's so much to work on
to be able to connect to the matana
toyva of Shabbos.
I recently started doing inspirational
video for Shabbos. Every Shabbos the
more person prepares the more person
could connect to Shabbos.
But I want to focus tonight on the
importance
of this coming Shabbos, the last Shabbos
of the year.
The Sfas Emes says, I'm going to read
the loshon inside. The Sfas Emes says
when speaking about this Shabbos
it's shvichem l'his'chazek b'chol
ha'koach ha'Shabbos to be m'chazek on
the every Shabbos u'm'kushkin b'Shabbos
zeh she'hu Shabbos acharon shel
ha'Shanah
to be m'chazek this this this week, the
last Shabbos of the year to be m'chazek.
V'al ko panim b'Shabbos she'b'sof
ha'Shanah tzerichim l'davek bo to
connect to Shabbos, every Shabbos but
for sure this Shabbos.
B'Shabbos ha'yotzei b'sof ha'Shanah
mashiah brocha b'knisa v'yetziah.
Says the Sfas Emes specifically this
Shabbos there's a reason to connect. A
person should work on
connecting to the Shabbos.
The Yismach Yisrael on the same note of
being m'chazek on the last Shabbos of
the year he says
the loshon is v'al y'dei shmirasa
b'kedusha u'vtahara by being shomer the
Shabbos b'kedusha u'vtahara nuchal
l'saken kol ma she'bigamlu b'chol
Shabbasos ha'Shanah. Meaning to say
like the Sfas Emes says to be m'chazek
but says the Yismach Yisrael that if a
person is m'chazek
this last Shabbos he could be masaken
all the Shabbos of the year. So what do
you think is up?
Even if the other Shabbos weren't the
way they were supposed to, this last
Shabbos a person could be masaken. He
brings
that the tone of the Beis Halevi, what
do you think of the tone of the Beis
Halevi? It says, "Yomim yutzarvo lo
yachad bahem."
The Ribono Shel Olam created many days,
but lo yachad, one day. What's that one
day? It's a Yom HaShabbos. So what does
it mean, yom echad and it's Shabbos? If
it's Yom Kippur,
it's yom echad bashana, but if it's
Shabbos, what's yom echad? These 52 or
so Shabbos in a year, what's yom echad?
Says the Alexander Rebbe, "Yom echad
means this Shabbos. This last Shabbos of
the year, if a person if a person
could
keeps the Shabbos properly, then he's
he's mechazek, he's masaken all the
Shabbos of the year. What do you think
is up? Be'ofen
that this Shabbos is a time to try to
put an effort
to be better.
Leil ui le yo, Reb Elimelech of Lyzhansk
yahrzeit was today.
In three different places, he gives a
schmooze to the bachurim to be mechazek
themselves the last Shabbos. And he says
a moshol. A moshol, a person has a
guest. So if you have a guest that comes
for a Shabbos, you set up beautifully,
you make delicious food.
What happens if the guest comes to you
for a year?
So at the beginning when he comes, you
hang up a sign, you make it beautiful.
Eventually, I mean, he's here for a
while, you serve him supper the way
whatever your supper is, normal. But
what happens at the end, lo the soif lo
maiseh the the
when he's leaving that last Shabbos or
that last supper, that last day, you
make it beautiful.
These Shabbos in the whole year. But
this is we're kind of saying goodbye to
the Shabbos Kodesh of Tof Shin Pey Vov.
Person has to put in effort to see to
make it that it should be beautiful.
He gives a couple of examples in what to
be miskhazek. Different things he says.
Eating lekavod Shabbos, it's beautiful
to eat lekavod Shabbos, but it doesn't
mean to eat that you you have to go to
sleep afterwards and then you can't
learn. But to bring out how could a
person enhance Shabbos? So first the
person has to know that whatever you do
on Shabbos is way more than during the
week. It's known the Ben Ish Hai brings
some of Kabbalah that if a person learns
on Shabbos, it's worth a thousand times
more. This is every Shabbos, but the
Shabbos a person should think any
Shabbos for Kodesh Kodeshim Shabbos that
he can make up all the Shabbos that he
was didn't learn properly. This Shabbos
if he puts in the effort to learn,
learning on Shabbos is a thousand times
more. Reb Elo Pyon brings from Svarim.
He says he doesn't remember where he saw
it. I saw in Reb Elo Pyon, but he says
that just like Shabbos Kodesh school of
Shabbos keneged kol hamitzvos, which
literally means if a person keeps
Shabbos, it's equivalent to keeping kol
haTorah kulah cuz it's shakul. It's like
you mekayem the kol haTorah kulah. So
too,
any mitzvah that you do on Shabbos is
shakul keneged kol hamitzvos. Not just
the mitzvah of of of Shabbos Kodesh. A
person Friday night after the meal, it's
normal to be tired. But if a person
benches properly, the mitzvah is shakul
keneged kol hamitzvos. And a person can
be misaken
what he what he wasn't so good
throughout the year. This last Shabbos,
like we saw before, could be messacking
all the Shabboson.
The Gemara in Zvachim clears the
shailah. The Gemara clears
this one concept of toder kodem.
If you have something that's toder and
something that's not toder, toder is
kodem. What's more frequent comes first.
Then there's a halacha called kodshei
chaveira. It's something that's more
kodish. Korbonos
comes before something that's less
mekudash. So, the Gemara wants to know
what happens if you have both. You have
a toder and on the other end you have
something that's mekudash. What comes
first? The toder, what's daily, or
what's mekudash even though it's not
daily? The Gemara clears the shailah.
Zagt the Gemara, "Tashma aveira.
Shabbos,
yeah, Shabbos, you have the korban tamid
and the korban mussaf. What comes first?
The korban tamid. Even though the mussaf
is a mussaf that's more mekudash because
of Shabbos,
and the tamid is the daily, is the
toder. So, you see, toder comes before
mekudash."
Says the Gemara,
"Otu, you say for the whole everything
on Shabbos, otu,
did Are you going to tell me that the
the Shabbos kedusha, Shabbos helps only
for the mussaf and not for the tamid? It
helps for the tamid also. Which means
even a benching that you'll do every
single day, a benching of Shabbos
is a mekudash digger benching.
A davening, it's it's a davening of
Shabbos. But, whatever a person does on
Shabbos has the kedushas a Shabbos."
On this note of kedushas a
which again is the gift of every
Shabbos, but if we're seeing how to be
maschic really for every Shabbos, but at
least the last Shabbos
in the concept of mikdash
the Beis Hamikdash
we will mikdash the Beis Hamikdash
and the Kedusha helps that if a person
at least once the Beis Hamikdash can be
even now kishalashaita if a person is
going to go to the Har Habayis in
certain places he's chaimisa.
A person that was mikdash the Har
Habayis it's mikdash.
Kol sh'Kein Shabbos
that the Eibishter is mikdash the
Eibishter is the one to make Kedusha
Shabbos
halacha is kama of a kama a person has
to be noig the Kedusha to be elevated.
So we see over here
that this Shabbos
has importance to see
like every Shabbos, but to see the put a
koach in this Shabbos to make up for all
the Shabbos that maybe weren't perfect.
But there is something more also besides
this Shabbos
telling us to look back on the previous
Shabbos and
it's also saying on lahaba
that what?
The Pritzadik of Sadik HaKohen says
the Shabbos Kodesh Hashana which is
already tochel shana kileisa last week
we read the tochecha
Parshas Ki Savo and the Gemara says the
reason why we read the tochecha at the
end of the year
tichle shana v'kileisa
question is there's a week in between,
but tichle shana v'kileisa
and then could start the brochos
says the Pritzadik
the brochos start already with this
Shabbos. And this Shabbos after mitzvah
my yoim, it's already Shabbos. It's
already been warming since this week.
The brochas of Rosh Hashanah start
already now Shabbos.
So, besides with what we said that the
Shabbos is supposed to be mashpia to
make up on the past, it's also mashpia
on the coming, but with more
explanation,
the Be'er Mayim Chaim says the
following.
Shabbos Hagadol before Pesach. Why is it
called Shabbos Hagadol?
So, there's many reasons. The simple
reason is the prei haness, the ness that
happened klal Yisrael took a set
and the the Mitzrim, the Etzem
should have gone crazy and hurt the
Yidden. They didn't do anything. Prei
haness.
The question is, it's true maybe it
happened Shabbos,
but the din was mechuyav ossur to take
the Yid Nissan. So, why is it that it's
Shabbos Hagadol?
Says the Be'er Mayim Chaim, a piyut
mevuar in the Zohar,
that what happens during the week is all
a hashpa'ah from what happened from
Shabbos. The kedushas haShabbos is
mashpia for whatever happens during the
week. Says the Be'er Mayim Chaim,
that the whole, can you imagine, the
whole yetzias Mitzrayim
only came about because of the koach of
Shabbos before yetzias Mitzrayim.
Only because of the koach of yetzias
Mitzrayim of the Shabbos before.
So, it's Shabbos Hagadol.
Boy, was it a big Shabbos. It was a
Shabbos to be mashpia yetzias Mitzrayim.
The me'orer this, says the Be'er Mayim
Chaim, the Shabbos before Rosh Hashanah
is the Shabbos that's me'orer rachamim,
that we should be Yate say Zaka Badin.
So, besides what we said before, that
the Shabbos is a Shabbos to make up all
the previous Shabbos in we see now also
that the Shabbos is something of
importance besides the Shabbos Kodesh
Atzmoi. It's also important to make sure
because this Shabbos above all in the
Shabbos Parshas Tetzaveh Vayakhel is
going to determine our Rosh Hashanah.
One more pointer on this note, which we
said that these the Shabbos,
this last Shabbos that's Masakan the
previous Shabbos, and also this Shabbos
that's Mashpia on the upcoming Rosh
Hashanah.
And just one more pointer before this
final pointer,
Reb Yonasan Eibeschutz, whose Yahrzeit
is tonight,
says, "What's the reason why we start
Slichos
Motzei Shabbos?"
We say,
"Sefardim start Rosh Chodesh Elul.
We start but at some four days before
Rosh Hashanah."
In the sense of technically,
we really could have started, let's say
a week like this week, we could have
started Monday. Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
>> [clears throat]
>> Why do we have to start from Shabbos,
Motzei Shabbos? So, he says, "Because we
want to start Slichos B'Simcha. You're
supposed to do Teshuvah B'Simcha.
And where do you have the Simcha?" He
says, "You have the Simcha of a person
that's Mekayem Shabbos properly. He
learns Shabbos. He has Oneg Shabbos.
With that, you go into Slichos."
His loshon is ki ha'am samechim machmas
mitzvos ha'Torah she'layhem de'Shabbos.
They're happy with Torah that they
learn.
also makes a person happy.
Therefore, we start Motzei Shabbos.
that this Shabbos is an important
Shabbos
for back and for Rosh Hashanah and to
get a good start with Slichos.
That's the importance of this last
Shabbos Kodesh.
But to conclude
with what brings both together, both in
one side the Shabbos that improve the
Shabbos that passed and side also to
improve to have a good Rosh Hashanah, to
have a good start with Slichos.
The Orech L'Ner
in his sefer Torah Minchas Ani
wonders the following.
Why is it
that sometimes
Rosh Hashanah sh'chali's b'Shabbos is an
amazing It turns out to be an amazing
year.
And he gives some examples. The year
that Klal Yisrael was choyteh of the
ego, then was the machil, that's the 40
days we have now, that Rosh Hashanah was
chali's b'Shabbos.
The chomas Hamishkan was in a year Rosh
Hashanah sh'chali's b'Shabbos. Klal
Yisrael went into Eretz Yisrael on a
Rosh Hashanah sh'chali's b'Shabbos.
They were great years of Rosh Hashanah
sh'chali's b'Shabbos. May idach
they were terrible years on on Rosh
Hashanah sh'chali's b'Shabbos where we
couldn't blow the shofar.
Among those years, both Churban Bayis
Hamikdash happened on a year the Tisha
B'Av was a year that that year was Rosh
Hashanah sh'chali's b'Shabbos.
So how do you determine
is it
because of the no shofar sometimes you
see it's a great year and sometimes it's
not a good year.
Tosefta actually on the Gemara of Mary
and Tosefta says that it's only if you
don't blow shofar because of the oness,
then it was not going to be a good year.
But if Rosh Hashanah shali is for
shabbos,
then
it's not a oness. We have shabbos.
Explains the oral linear with a martial.
How do you understand sometimes you do
have sometimes you do have a good year
we have a good year sometimes
unfortunately not. So he says with a
martial.
There was once a servant of a king
that was hated and sent to the king.
The king was furious and he told
the judges to deal with it.
Figure it out. Well, you know, take care
of it.
He tried getting a defender, a lawyer
and nobody dared to defend the case.
Because if you're sticking up for the
case,
means you don't care about the king. And
he couldn't he couldn't get anybody to
help him out.
His wife says,
"Listen, you're a servant here at the
king. The king knows me. I'll come I'll
represent you."
They had the case.
He she came.
She represented.
And Al Amissa, he was let off the hook.
Taka, she pulled it off.
Not too long after, there was another
servant
that did the exact same thing.
He tried getting
lawyers to defend him, somebody to help
him. Of course nobody was interested.
But he said, "Wait a second. The same
story happened. The guy's wife helped
him. Let me bring my wife on board
also."
This guy
didn't have major shalom bayis with his
wife.
But Al Amissa, he was married. His wife
figured, "Listen, my husband's going to
get killed. She'll represent them.
He pulls up, she pulls pulls up.
And the judge asks the guy's wife, "What
are those bruises on your face?"
And she didn't have She couldn't know
what She didn't have what to answer.
The people said it's because
he used to beat her.
So, the judge says, "Listen here.
The previous case,
the guy's wife came to represent them. I
hear you can't use your wife
to represent you. You beat her. You
can't She can't represent you."
Says the Aral Haner, "The nimshal is
Rosh Hashanah.
Who's our defendant? The shofar.
Rosh Hashanah shachalis b'Shabbos, we
don't have that.
So, we may look
who's going to watch us? Who's going to
come save us? Like the Medrash says that
Shabbos is the ben zuga of Klal Yisrael.
However, it's only if Klal Yisrael keeps
Shabbos, if Klal Yisrael keeps Shabbos,
then Shabbos can come and protect Klal
Yisrael. Says the Aral Haner, "The years
that it was gevaldige years Klal Yisrael
went into Eretz Yisrael, those were
years that even though there was no
shofar, b'l'maiseh, we were able to rely
on the shmira on Shabbos cuz we kept
Shabbos. The years that unfortunately it
wasn't is cuz we didn't have the shmira
of Shabbos." B'oifen,
we began speaking about this last
Shabbos that it's m'sake in the previous
shabbos, and we said that it's mashpia
on Rosh Hashanah. It helps us, it gives
us a good start with slichos.
But here we see that we need this
Shabbos Kodesh for this week to be a
good week because next week Shabbos, the
first Shabbos of the year, when it's the
Yom Hadin, we need to come with
ammunition. We need to come with with a
representative of Shabbos.
So, we should take zocheh to utilize
[clears throat]
particularly this Shabbos Kodesh,
whether it's learning,
mitzvahs,
better kiddish, davening, and with that
will be
to see the Torah.
>> Amen.
>> Very nice.
