So, um it's an interesting thing that happened. This is a true story and I'm going to uh which will be a kind of a introduction to the next song. But um I had a friend I'm a balcha and um I had a friend of mine who like who kind of introduced me another friend and we both became shabas and he learns in pol and spot and I'm here at my >> and he sadly kind of wound up following a band called the grateful dead and he was like a kingpin. He supplied them with um supplies that they used on the road and I lost touch with him for about 40 years. But when I first came to Bayside Queens, um I was a little bit hesitant of being in a new neighborhood and uh I went to go do my laundry in the laundry room and there was this guy walked in. His hair was standing up [clears throat] and he had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth and a ripped concert t-shirt and he said, "Hey, how you doing? What's your name?" And I was really kind of standoffish. And I said, "You know, my name's Rob." And he said, "Great. How you doing? You just doing the neighborhood?" and I said, "Yeah, I'm into the neighborhood." And um uh we became friends. He introduced me to a lot of people. And when he got into doing drugs, we kind of obviously I was becoming showabs and uh he was following the grateful dead. And for about 40 years, we lost touch with each other and I haven't seen him since then. And what happened was after Rash Mosi Rashashana I go on Facebook and uh I saw that his brother posted that my friend Larry was naive and um obviously felt very sad and I tracked down his brother who I also haven't seen in 40 years and I and I called him up and I said well where's the Levia going to be? Where's the funeral going to be? And um he said that Larry's wishes were to get cremated if you have his dashes, you know, spread over his mother's ever. And um I uh I closed my eyes and I said, "God, please help me." So I gave him my best sales pitch about why it's a bad thing to do. And I said, you know, the burning of the soul, the burning of the body, you know, everything that you guys know. And um what happened was I said, "I'll take care of it. He goes, "Okay." And then I hung up the phone. I'm like, "What did I just do? I haven't I don't know who like what do I do?" My god, he just gave me this thing. And his, you know, his body was in in the Queen's Hospital in the Moors and I had I don't know what to do. So I have a friend through music. I met a guy named Raaran Cutler and he's a friend of mine. So I said, "Well, let me call Raarin up." And I called Raarin. And within 2 minutes of hanging up the phone with Ravarin, the head, the big shot of Mask, the hot guy, >> Sask, did I say it wrong? >> Okay. Anyway, it's possible that I could say these things wrong. So he called me up and I told him the situation and he said, "We got your back. We'll we'll do this." And um what happened was [clears throat] it [snorts] was the craziest thing. So he uh we had the Levia and his his mace was sitting in the in Queen's Hospital which is a terrible place and I was the one I was the only one out of Levia that knew him. There was a bunch of guys volunteers that came these guys. >> Yeah. These the Lakewood guys there was a guy from Staten Island [clears throat] who lived in Brooklyn guy. there's a [snorts] place in the is in the in the cemetery where they bury people who are don't have meanings. >> Right. Right. >> So, you know, so then I the open body I identified him and you know it's kind of uh whatever and that was pretty humbling and I thought to myself I said you know wow the amazing thing is you don't know when a mitzvah pays off. This guy who I haven't seen in 40 years and really didn't even know his number nothing. He didn't he was never he wasn't on social media media and because he came up to me and said hello that time in the laundry room in uh Bayside Queens 40 years ago he was off at Havos Kora. >> Wow. [clears throat] >> And uh great story >> you know it really is and and I really owe like a big thanks to Rabbi Cutler and the guys that costume and uh so uh the story happened. This was this pet Rashana is and I say Kadesh and not only that but they were so nice the brother who who let me bury Larry they gave him also they gave him a a spot so when he goes he go he's also kind of um he would also have a photo where I told him let me know I'm not going to let him know let me know when you die [laughter] please call me or just set your phone something that your stops, I get a call. So, no, it didn't get that far, but Versace, but I got two for the price of, you know, just acid was just astounding. So, this song uh was I recorded a long time ago when I was actually making records or CDs or whatever they were at the time. It was like mindful cuz the you come in and you wonder whether you have self-esteem when you stand up and dab and you have to realize Hashem wants us to d him in and mit you see the amazing things that we couldn't even verbalize we were so the I've seen the som talks about it how the Jewish people were really they were just swallowed up by the tum of mit like and then you know goes in the whole planting process but we couldn't speak you don't see any verbal to feel until they say that's the first time you see we're able to say something. We can only grow. But Hashem loves us so much that we could even just grow. Sometimes you don't think you have uh you come out and you're looking at your cell phone or whatever.
