PARSHAS KI SAVO - CLOSING THE DOOR ON SHABBOS FROM WITHIN - Shiur by Rabbi Nachum Scheiner

In this week's parsha, the Torah begins parshas Ki Savo with the mitzvah of bikurim. And the possuk says, when you come to Eretz Yisrael, you should know there's a mitzvah of bikurim. Va'anisa va'amarta, the psukim go through the mitzvah of bikurim. Da'amira, when you bring the bikurim, the Sifrei says, v'haya ki savo el ha'aretz, says the Sifrei, bishchos mitzvas bikurim d'kaneis l'aretz. If you're going to be m'kayem the mitzvah of bikurim, you're going to be zoycha to come to Eretz Yisrael. The obvious question is, bikurim is one of the mitzvos hatluyos ba'aretz, which means you could only be m'kayem the mitzvah of bikurim in Eretz Yisrael. Here in chutz la'aretz, we're not m'kayem the mitzvah of bikurim. It's a mitzvah that's only in Eretz Yisrael. So, what does it mean? The Sifrei says that bishchos, if you'll be m'kayem the mitzvah of bikurim, you'll be zoycha to go into Eretz Yisrael. You could only be m'kayem the mitzvah of bikurim once you're in Eretz Yisrael. So, what does it mean bishchos mitzvas bikurim d'kaneis l'aretz? My grandfather, Rebbe Mordechai Yehudah Leibart, in his sefer Milchemes Yehudah La'Torah, says the following. Al pi yesod that the Tiferes says, the Tiferes is al ha'Torah, and he brings a Mishnah in Ma'aser Sheini. The Mishnah says, lishkos habnuyos ba'kodesh, if you have a room in the Beis Hamikdash, that's built on koydish, however, the door to get into the room, into the lishka is choyil, has a din of choyil. Says the Mishnah, "Uvsuach is choyil, toychan choyil." What's the p'shat? Why does that room that's open to the choyil, why is it have a din of choyil? The choyil it's built on koydish. He explains that the p'shat is that if a person is sitting in a room and the door, there's a door, and he the door goes out the choyil, he is actually not in koydish. He's not present in the koydish, he's in choyil. Ad kein de kach that it's mashpia that that room has a din of choyil. Says my grandfather, the same thing is Eretz Yisrael. A person could be in Eretz Yisrael but not be in Eretz Yisrael. These kedushas Eretz Yisrael, these avira, the aroma when you learn Torah in Eretz Yisrael, these makoymes hakdoshim like Zoz Sh'chinah makoyis El Hamaravi, there's a lot of different ways how to be able to be present, to be present in Eretz Yisrael, not just be in Eretz Yisrael. Each in their own way, that's not the discussion now. Says the Safri, "Of course you're in Eretz Yisrael cuz the only way to be mekayem the mitzvah of bikurim is in Eretz Yisrael." But if you're mekayem the mitzvah of bikurim, you'll be zoycheh not just to be practically to be in Eretz Yisrael, but you'll be zoycheh connotes to go in to the essence to the Kadosha Sarah to Israel to tap into Israel. Shabbos Kodesh The Aibishter gives us Shabbos not like Yom Tov that's because Israel has money on Cloud Israel has money on the Yom Tov. Shabbos is here. But the Rebbe always said even more. Reb Gedaliah Shorr in his safer says Al Pi Das Shamayim. This that Chazal tell us that the Ribono shel Olam says Matana tovah yesh b'veit ginzai. I have a gift for you in my treasure house that's Shabbos. The shaila is where is it nigaya where the gift is coming from? You buy a bar mitzvah bochur a matana gift, it's true when it's wrapped and there's a card, a lot of times it says the Swartz store. Is it nigaya where the gift come from? It could be over here it actually is nigaya if you want to return it. But where is it nigaya? You give somebody a gift, it makes a difference where the gift came from? Where is it Why is it nigaya that the Aibishter saying that you want to know where Shabbos is coming from? It's coming from Beit Ginzei. And if it's coming from somewhere else? And maybe even you can add a bit more. It's interesting, it sounds like the matana is from Beit Ginzei. I have a gift for you, you can go pick it up at the store. Kilu lahavdil I have a matana for you, Shabbos Kodesh from Knesses Yisrael. The matana is we go to the Beis Knesses Yisrael to pick it up. Sefer Gedalyahu answers both of these questions. The matana of Shabbos is that we go into the Beis Knesses Yisrael. And over there is Shabbos. So, Raboisai, the Eibishter gives us the matana of Shabbos. But not only does he give us Shabbos, he puts us into the Shabbos. By Eretz Yisrael, says the Sifrei Bikkurim, we'll be zocheh l'konis. By Shabbos, it could be it's even more. Like Rav Gedalyahu says al pi the Sfas Emes, that the Eibishter puts us Beis Knesses Yisrael, puts us kol kula into the Shabbos. We just have to make sure and not open the door, not go out of the door. We have to make sure to be present, to take a stay there. Kol echod k'fi madregosav, whether if it's a hachana before Shabbos, whether it's on Shabbos, trying to daven better, to learn better, to do other mitzvos, zmiros by Shabbos Kodesh. All that is poshut being present while we are in the Beis Knesses Yisrael of the Ribbono shel Olam, while we are in the Shabbos Kodesh. We have the matana tova. And we have it to the fullest extent. Let us make sure to utilize the opportunity of Shabbos Kodesh. Be present, be there. Tap into the Shabbos Kodesh. Again, call me my dreidel go say everybody on their level, everybody what they can do. But to do something to make sure to tap in to be present and of course not to look out the door of the base gan Israel when already is a Motzei Shabbos.
