This is one of the reasons we create new settings of familiar texts: It enables us to hear the prayer in a new way, to consider different aspects of it. The psalm goes on to command not just the people of Israel, but kol ha’aretz – the whole world and all its creations – to join in singing. I feel blessed to work with talented musicians to create and sing new songs. Ofer Bashan, the composer of this setting is an Israeli with cosmopolitan background including several years in Nigeria.
