it is a little bit dark in here why
don't we get the lights off before we
start
beautiful did someone just tell me what
just happened with these light switches
over here
and then when we turned on this way
it's your parents that now get an extra
bill an electric bill that they have to
be paying for
but it's no problem
how do you pay it but the bottom line is
this waste is circumvent that this
shouldn't cost so much money
it's making its way back to countries
that are producing oil and this is all
something that we really
if we want to be part of a independent
all independent on our own and not being
dependent on other countries our correct
way is to try to figure out a way that
when we do flip the light switch there
was no extra there was no electricity
use that we have to pay for that we have
to pay other people for how do we go
about doing that hashem created by a
glorious world part of the glorious
world that he created was the sun
everyone knows every single morning the
sun goes up every single night the sun
goes down has that ever stopped in
history yes yes how many times
that's right
twice it's tough on it twice and but
since then as we all know it's something
that happens every single day and is
expected now we can take a solar panel
like this this solar panel is made in
such a way that
when the sun hits it it produces energy
it produces electricity
i'm going to have to give a very special
welcome to my very good old friend of
mine
we used to produce a different type of
energy together yes
so anyways as the song comes down and
it's the it hits
very hard to describe the exact answer
of how exactly it produces it it's a
very very
uh highly technical method of what it
does but it definitely produces regular
electricity just like you would use at
all
now just to prove that everyone got a
picture over here of some
funny type of plane floating around
that's not really a plane that is the
the
solar
that is the space station the
the national and that the international
space station that everyone knows about
now how does the international space
station where do they get their
electricity from if you look closely at
the picture on both sides you will see
that there are solar panels coming all
over the place there wherever there's an
extra place they're stuck in solar
panels so when that solar and then when
that
space station is orbiting around the
earth it's picking up all its
electricity from
the sun the sun is always bright out
there it's always picking up we have
another solar panel going around you can
feel what it is what a solar panel that
is a real solar panel you would put that
into the sun and plug it in it would
produce electricity
as you can see over here here the panel
looks so extra large over here however
in real life if you'll take a look at
this picture it's a small little thing
sitting up on the roof it doesn't bother
anybody and it's producing what's known
as clean energy when we using oil oil is
something that burns up it creates a
certain smell it creates a madness in
the air a certain
pollution in the air correct same thing
when you're burning coal coal produce it
produces terrible pollution in the air
this is what's known as clean energy and
that's the main reason why it's being
pushed along so hard by the governments
by the state government by the
by the federal government only because
it's producing clean energy now where do
you put this panel everyone over here
knows where does the sun come up from
everyone else
very good where is the sun set
very good which side of from east to
west does it pass on the southern side
or on the northern side
very good these guys know their stuff so
if we have the sun coming up on the east
side over here sun is standing on the
west side over here the sun is passing
throughout the southern side all along
what we always want to do is make sure
that these panels are having a southern
orientation that are tilted towards the
south to pick up as much of the sun as
possible throughout the day every so
often we if you'll take a look at nina's
dinette the picture his building is
facing perfectly south when we put those
panels up
when we put those panels up as soon as
as soon as the sun started coming up it
hits that those panels right away and
it's basically there for most of the day
unless
certain parts of the summer now does
everyone know that the sun goes up and
down different ways in the winter and in
the summer
i mean how many of you are for watching
in the winter the sun is always going to
be much lower than what it's going to be
in the summer the sun is always going to
be much higher up and therefore going to
give a much stronger impact on the
panels therefore producing much more
electricity
just for another short little thing just
to know that the state of new jersey and
the federal government of the united
states is really really interested in
solar energy therefore they provide a
lot of incentives and a lot of rebates
for people to go out there and buy
themselves
any system you put up typically 55 about
55 of the system is already paid for
before you finish putting it up between
the state of new jersey and the federal
government so really today it's not even
such an expensive thing to go in there
and put that solar energy and in the
long run it ends up saving people a lot
a lot of money
any questions about anybody some of my
students actually had a few questions
first of all let's say i'm doing snowing
if it would snow on the panel then it
would not work for those few hours of
days that the pan was thrown up
what's important to know is that
whenever it's snowing whenever you put
in solar let's forget about snow what
happens if it's raining
or what happens it turns night every
night so polar energy actually only
produces one of the substrates
there are certain systems where you can
take the sun and you where you take the
solar energy that's produced and store
it in batteries and then use it
throughout the night most systems that
are produced do not work that way most
systems work only when the sun is
shining and the rest of the time you
have to be lying on the regular
adjacency and now whatever your
uh
another question they have is so let's
say we have a very hot with a very sunny
week how long will that score
uh for the clarity this one well again
most systems do not work with scoring
what happens is if you're producing
energy and you're producing more energy
than what you really happen to need in
such a case the
the extra the excess energy will be sent
back to jcptnl and they will
buy that energy off you and therefore
you'll have a credit on your electrical
bill which you will use up at night
times unless they're doing real hot
summer days the air conditioning is
blasting away and you're using too much
energy and you can't provide it
anything else
now how do we know how much shading is
going to be producing how much shading
there isn't is it really a problem maybe
only in the summer and maybe only in the
winter and after the summer we have this
camera over here if you pull the camera
we can actually try to take some type of
picture with it and just to give you an
idea
this is called a solomatic for the video
uh
you can pick up which area you are in so
we're going to pick more branches
in jersey as the area that we're in
um it looks like a gps
yes guys
there's really not much you can see from
over here but this is what i'll show you
something very interesting in a moment
oh it may take about 20 minutes
now very important when you take this
picture is the camera has to be longed
on towards sound all right everyone
with the compass on it
just stand right
okay this just took a picture he was on
the side of the picture as everybody saw
and if you take a look at the picture
see myself there you go this camera
i'm going to take it around the choke
very quickly
if okay yeah yeah
the point is that this is a camera that
takes pictures not just of what street
in front of it or what's right on top of
it it really goes around to all the
sides of the thing and therefore you
could really
is
um
oh
